    His exact quote is:

"There are games out there, now, that utilize more than 8GBs of RAM, but if you're not playing the latest AAA titles, it may not be worth the upgrade for you, yet"

Which is just crazy, 8GBs is not enough for using Chrome. Ask any kid with a Chromebook about how laggy their laptops are.

The most basic gamer is going to have Steam, Discord and a browser, likely Chrome, open. That alone is 8GBs of memory used.

I think it's wild that Linus went through all the testing and came up with the conclusion that it's not worth upgrading from 8GB yet. People will complain on the comments for sure, because 8GB nowadays is not enough to use Chrome, let alone game properly.

Even though AMD sponsored the video, would be cool to see the same method of setup but for Intel, then comparing with Linux.

They built a ecosystem that hooked corporations and creators and then switched to a subscription model. The industry can't really switch away since nothing is as integrated as Adobe Products are, that is, unless you create your content on a Mac....

That lubing was just for the camera, in actuality I took my time doing it right for the build. Theres a cutoff sentence in the video where I mention "3 hours" - thats how long I spent getting all the switches and stabs prepped. It was quite the learning curve. The stabs were lubed as well, admittedly I'm not a pro, but it WAS done. Thanks!

A fellow manufacturing company owner, nice! I'm a manufacturing engineer by trade and have my own little machine shop as well. This wasn't an "overkill" build in the sense that we got parts that were available commercially, with the exception of the set of brass keys that @salvun made for us. Not saying that an Overkill build isn't possible in the future however!

The brass is actually cerokoted clear, so it wont oxidize. If you want to go nuts with a sinker or glorified bandsaw (wire edm #machinistjokes) I would be super interested to see what you could come up with.

In the future I would like to make a chassis in house, either on the router here at LTT or in my own shop - for a future video perhaps

    Great video!

I wish you guys did a proper typing test at the end though, spend like 1-2 minutes with Linus and the other guys checking out how it sounds without background noise.

Also, I think you applied WAY too much lube, especially for linears, and the Stabs weren't lubed.

How about just using NVIDIA's Fast V-Sync? Zero tearing, no special latency for input, works with ANY display. I've been using this on my 144Hz monitor and has been great for years. It never even crosses my mind to go and buy FreeSync or G-Sync monitor, it's THAT good. I only heard it's an issue on 60Hz displays since it's dropping frames after 60fps, but on 120Hz it really shouldn't be a problem. At least I don't see any on my 144Hz and some games don't always hit 144fps at all times (like recent NFS Heat which floats in 80+ fps region in worst conditions and rock solid 144fps in less demanding). Zero tearing, butter smooth experience.

Adaptive V-Sync also works, but I do spot occasional image tearing in some games. Minimal, but is present sometimes in rare conditions.

    Great video.

The monitor is, like people said, very well priced for what you get. The stand will probably be the least purchased thing since very few people use it.

But now the Mac Pro itself, THAT is a lot of money. The below 16-core version should NOT exist and it should've come with Epyc CPUs, it shouldn't be more than $30k for a full spec.

I guess Apple is indeed just not caring about pricing the Mac Pro at all.

This is why I love LMG's current direction. More host diversity means a wider knowledge stack to pull from and an easier time picking a writer who actually has a reason to talk about the topic at hand!

It is amazingly obvious in LTT videos when the writer who worked on the project was passionate and knowledgeable about the topic before it came to their desk/pay check. If I remember correctly this is the first Apple product review that Linus didn't host, yeah? Clearly Apple will continue to get shat on if the host doesn't like their products to begin with.

And I really, really must say @GabenJr deserves a "greatest improvement" and "best host" award, if LMG ever decides to issue community-voted awards. It is quantifiable in not only the quality of the end result in editing, but also in host confidence how much better Anthony has become since the beginning of the year. Your confidence in front of the camera is immeasurably better, and your "stage" presence truly makes you come across as the knowledgeable and intelligent individual you are. Also you seem to have lost a little weight, props for that!

Also, whoever shot the B-Roll for this video needs a raise. Truly stunning, and the absolute best I have ever seen from any LMG content.

I think the only underrated host now is Terran, bring back keyboard reviews and make that his thing! The king sits idle on this throne ?

TL;DR: LTT improves every day diversity grows. The recent influx of other faces in front of the camera is nothing short of a blessing.

Kibelok reacted to Emily Young in Macs are SLOWER than PCs. Here’s why.
I feel like the point was kind of missed here... The point isn't "lol apple sux", it's "Apple has made deliberate decisions to prioritise certain things over the performance of their computers, to the detriment of the people who might actually want to use them for what they're typically advertised for." It was an investigation into the what, and speculation as to the why. We even said up front that Apple's not the only company guilty of this, but even ignoring the form factor vs performance debate, little things like their fan curves aren't helping, and it's been a major issue in the past where chips just got too hot on the board and the BGAs just let go.

I own one of those affected 2011 Macbook Pros, and I happen to really like macOS - The problem I have is that when I bought my Macbook, there wasn't anyone out there who had the combination of battery life, form factor, and performance Apple offered, and that's since changed dramatically (if you ignore the GPU overheating issue). Apple is quite obviously attempting to hang on to that "magical" middle-ground, and as a result they're sacrificing their actual performance levels to achieve that, but not in a way that laypeople would typically notice. As we said in the video, part of this is Intel's fault - Apple had this design on the books with the expectation that we'd be on 10nm by now, but that's been delayed and delayed and delayed. But they could at least make an attempt to not run the machines at the redline at all times...

The point being, Apple could have largely defanged this critique quite easily with a more aggressive fan curve... But the fans take about a minute to hit maximum speed while the die temperature is hot enough to boil water, and the Core i9 Macbook Pro's launch fiasco proved that they don't have the overhead to ramp the fans up that slowly. That kind of thermal performance is straight-up unacceptable, especially for a professional machine.

So TL;DR, what I hope to accomplish with this is to get Apple to rethink their thermal solution, even if it's ramping the fans up sooner. The cooler on the Macbook Pro in particular is tiny, and the only way I can see them expect the machine to survive long-term is if it's rarely hit with a sustained load. Apple has been and in many ways still is better than that (see: iPhone), and unless they want to lose that image, this needs to change. Maybe it'll take a move to the A-series ARM processors. If you recall, there were similar issues with thermal performance and processing performance with the later PowerPC processors, and IBM couldn't hit the targets Apple wanted... Kinda feels the same this time around with Intel, don't you think?

No, if you just keep adding to systems without any real plan you end up with patchwork garbage. I don't have any photos on my phone of any big clean networking installs that I have done but heres a photo of a job I just finalized today. When good networking guys terminate they don't even let any wires cross in their bundles. I feel they would be better served just having someone full time who isn't in a rush trying to get onto the next job. Having an electrician on site would definitely come in handy if you were running a media production studio. Think of all the lighting, power and networking in their building.

I know very little about programming, game creation and etc, I'm mainly a 3D artist, but can't the abundance of power be solved by simply raising the ceiling?

By that I mean, can't just game studios make games that require more cores to make it run better, thus making a prettier game than before?

Or should we stick to 144 fps as a cap, at let studios optimize their graphics and core count to always reach that level?

Honestly I'm just glad Intel is in this position right now, we should forever be thankful for AMD for advancing the tecnology.

Mainstream happened when Corsair launched their first AIO, the Corsair H50 in 2009, then the H70 in 2010. The popularity grew when the H60, H80 and H100 launched in 2011. The AIOs helped Corsair grow really big as a company.

well, stacking memory modules onto GPU is the least of the problems, still, this is handled by the GPU. CPU takes care of other things, like audio, game mechanics, internet connection/lobby and all other jazz around the game except for graphics, and 4 cores are well enough. If you want a CPU bounded game you are looking into games that are either simulation-like, i.e. City Skyline (many NPCs over whole city), or something where AI plays a big role, like Civ VI where is required multi-agent AI that you play against.

I don't think your motherboard can drive it. I personally have a Maximus 7 Hero and use a FiiO E10K DAC to drive it.

FiiO has some great DACs for entry-level. There's also the famous Schiit Stack, though it can be expensive. Aune has some good ones like X1S and X7S. It all depends on how much you wanna spend on it.
