I'd also add a quick section on IPv4 subnets, and what the difference is between a Class A, Class B, and Class C subnet.

    Class A example: 10.0.0.0/12 - Supports up to 16,777,616 IP addresses - 2^24 - Subnet Mask: 255.0.0.0
    Class B example: 172.10.0.1/16 - Supports up to 65,534 IP addresses - 2^16 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
    Class C example: 192.168.0.1/24 - Supports up to 254 IP addresses - 2^8 - Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

To calculate the amount of IP's in a  subnet, use the power of 2^bits in an octet. There are 8 bits in an octet (X.X.X.X).

.0 is your netmask, .1 is usually your gateway, and .255 is usually your broadcast.

The only other twitch-shooter that I know of is Blacklight Retribution. It uses Unreal Engine 3 technology, and doesn't require a high end system in order to play it.

Helios79 got a reaction from FuzzyYellow in What ISP
A lot of WISP's have this problem. They either can't manage their networks with QoS, or can't increase the bandwidth to the fiber PoP site. My boss wants to throw 100+ people on a 30 Mbps synchronous connection, and be able to offer them speeds that Netflix will work with. That isn't going to happen.

You must have lost brain cells when AMD took higher-binned Athon 64 X2 processors and re-badged them as Opterons. Yes, people did game with those Opteron processors as well.

Other than a Xeon E3 being identical to an i5 or i7 (Xeon supporting ECC memory), there is little difference between the two. As @elexonica put it, you can at times find them online for a cheaper price than a non-K part.

Gigabit NIC's are cheap and in abundance. Buy one of those, install it, and disable the onboard 10/100 if you have no use for it.

I had an older GXS 600W powering my file server for the past four years. Before that, it was in a gaming system for three years. Due to its age, it was retired for a new unit. I never had an issue with an FSP unit, and their OEM power supplies are rock solid.

When do threads like this never turn into a troll thread? It just becomes a pissing match with various reviewer links thrown at each other. Either buy the card and be merry, or stick to what you have.

Helios79 got a reaction from Lazmarr in How do I get the drivers for this GPU?
You will need to use the drivers from your manufacturers' website. Reference drivers may not include the necessary PCI vendor ID's that are required to recognize your graphics card. If you had an a laptop with Nvidia graphics, there is a site that takes reference drivers and dumps the PCI vendor ID's into the driver INF file. This makes the installer recognize Nvidia laptop GPU's. It's a lot of jargon to understand, but that is how drivers work. If the vendor ID isn't in the driver file, it won't be recognized.

You really don't need a 1200W power supply for that build. 750-800W would suffice. Maxwell consumes less power than Kepler, so it's another reason to decrease the power supply to a lower wattage. Do you have any plans to move into an SLI configuration later on down the road?

Another move I would make is to change the H100i to the H105. The rad is a bit thicker, so it will allow for better heat dissipation. You also won't have to worry about the software not working correctly, as the H105 is completely driven by PWM (minus the water block pump).

I generally choose XpressPost from Canada Post. I can have my items from NCIX in 2 business days.

I will never use UPS as they tried to scam an additional $80 out of me when I had an HAM antenna shipped up from the U.S.. The reseller claimed to have in-house brokerage. They called three times and then sent a collection letter. I still haven't paid and they haven't pursued.

DHL is an option, but I don't trust the contractor to deliver the packages on time. It's actually Loomis Express here, handled by TDS.

Make sure that the USB 3.0 port is a native Intel USB port. There could be some issues using either the ASMedia or VIA USB 3.0 ports during installation. If you are unaware of what controller is which, use the USB 2.0 ports to do your install.

I didn't actually provide a valid reason for the H110, did I? My bad. I recommended the H105 due to it's lack of software interference. Corsair Link is quite buggy and I don't recommend using it.
