  1. Thank you for your replies. As it turns out it was a dodgy SATA cable. I didn't even consider changing the cable out earlier, but I did a test with the drive on the outside of the case and it worked as expected straight away.
  2. That is a good point. Someone else did mention maybe is the SATA cable being defective so I will try that one first. If it turns out that isn't the case I will just go through warranty. Cause it might not even be a faulty drive at all.
  3. Actually I will try in another PC and see if that helps and if it does I can just reach out to Lian Li and see if they sell replacement HDD cages for it. It came with 2 but I lost the other one. It isn't in the box, which was stupid of me. Thank you for letting me know though!
  4. I'm not sure if I can do that. The case I am using is the 011 Dynamic XL and the HDD cage has a hard wired SATA cable that has to be used.
  5. I have only had them maybe 3 months. So well within the warranty period. I was just hoping there would be something I could do to avoid having to send it back is all.
  6. Hi everyone, SOLVED: Turns out it was a dodgy SATAT cable. Strange that it only seemed to be one drive and not both, and only in one specific directory but nevertheless I am happy the problem has been found. I am having a very weird issue that I just can't seem to find a fix for. So I bought a couple of 6 TB Seagate Barracuda hard drives (brand new), and one of them seems to be possibly dying, but no software seems to show any indicator of it dying. I do have all the data backed up so data recovery isn't an issue. I went to clip a video on my PC and it was saved to my main SSD boot drive, and the file can be opened and viewed just fine. I then moved it to the drive in question in a specific folder. From then on whenever I even tried to open the folder, it would take FOREVER to load all the files in, and all the thumbnails and the file I just created would not open. It didn't error out or anything, it would just open in VLC media player and be a black screen. I thought that the file was broken, but I then moved the exact file to an external hard drive and that file works perfectly and the directory doesn't take long at all to load. It did however freeze the Windows explorer everytime I tried to open any file within that directory, so I deleted the folder and copy pasted it from my backup to the drive that does work back onto that drive and same thing. It would freeze Windows Explorer and then my screen would go black for a second and then come back and Windows Explorer would crash. I tried unplugging and replugging in the drive, and doing a quick format but I can't even format it as it just won't complete the format at all, and I checked the Task Manager for activity (see attached picture) and it constantly like this whether it is idle or being 'formatted'. So now I have a drive that has no partition on it as the format has failed. I also used Crystal Disk Info to see if it can detect anything bad (see screenshot) and as far as I can tell it seems ok? I don't really know how to interpret all the numbers and such but it says it is 'Good'. Please let me know if there is something within CDI I am missing. I have not dropped or caused any physical damage to the drive in any way and as you can tell from the CDI screenshot it is quite new. I am not too concerned about data loss as I have back ups but I would love to find out if there is something I can do to fix it. I did have a question about the drives making a clicking sound which they still do every now and then which has happened since I got them which I made a forum post about. See below for more details. Sorry for the very long post but I wanted to include as much detail as possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated )
  7. Thanks for your input! I assume this is the setting you are referring to? It was set to 20 mins by default. I will try this and see how it goes for the next few days! Thank you!
  8. Hmm... I will try and catch it again on a better device.
  9. Hi all! I am having this weird issue, well what I think is an issue with some brand new hard drives. I recently bought 2x Seagate Barracuda 6TB hard drives (https://www.pccasegear.com/products/47556/seagate-barracuda-6tb-st6000dm003-3-5in-hard-drive) They seem to make this weird sound I have tried to catch in the video. It seems to happen every 5 seconds or so, even at idle, then it will stop for a bit and then happen again. It might be hard to hear in the video so you will need to turn it way up but in person it is definitely quite loud. I am not sure if this is cause for concern in terms of them actually being faulty or just me being paranoid. I recently had 2x 4TB Seagate Barracuda's, one of which died and I sold the other to my friend, and they didn't seem to have this weird sound. These 4TB drives lasted a few years. Even if this isn't cause for concern, is there a reason for the noise? And can I somehow stop it? Because it's not like its happening when it is being accessed. Even completely idle it does it. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you Vid 20220819 193739.m4v
  10. Yea I think I will just go with the tape option. Thank you for your input. Isn't electrical tape the solid black tape though? https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-18mm-x-20m-black-pvc-insulation-tape-5-pack_p0251987 This is something I would consider using.
  11. Ah right. I don't think it is software related because even fully stripping any RGB software and even swapping motherboards, as well as a fresh install of Windows shows the same symptoms. I also did try updating the RGB software too because there was an update. I fully uninstalled it and reinstalled the new version and same thing. Is my best bet to just put a bit of electrical tape over it (like a really small piece) assuming it doesn't interfere with any cooling pads?
  12. Haha it isn't quite that funky. It cycles in a set order, as shown in the video. It is the same pattern just continuous. As long as there is power running to the card, it will be on.
  13. Hi all, I am coming to you all with quite possibly the most first world problem there is. I have had this issue for about 6 months now and always just ignored it but I thought I might as well get some opinions and see what you all think it could be. Anyhow, I have a MSI RTX 3090 with an EKWB on it, and about 6 months ago when the power went out while gaming, ever since then a random RGB light on the actual card itself can't be controlled. Currently the RGB connector isn't even plugged into the motherboard for the waterblock RGB so I know it isn't the block lighting, because the rest of the block lighting isn't even on but that is fine. Anyway I wasn't sure at the time if it was software related or not. I have tried reinstalling the motherboard RGB software, and fully reinstalling Windows, and no matter what light colour I set it always plays the colour cycling as shown in the video. Is it possible that when the power went out it killed a controller or something? Now this doesn't effect performance at all so it isn't the end of the world but I thought I would see if there is anyone out there who might know. Thank you GPU RGB.mp4
  14. EDIT: I think I fixed the problem. FULLY disabling Gsync in the control panel somehow worked. Rather than choosing fullscreen only.
