Mac Address is definitely my favourite of the LMG channels, it's the only one I feel I really get any 'value' out of.
Channel Super Fun is absolutely horrendous, since the relaunch of it there's been barely any 'super fun' content, it's all just cringey TikTok style content that is genuinely hard to watch.

After the recent backpack warranty controversy Gamers Nexus re-evaluated where LTT stands as a company and decided to not treat them as a friend anymore, but as a company like MSI, EVGA, etc. As a result he called out Linus' behavior during the whole warrany controversy. I personally found it rather funny that he put in clips of Luke's expressions when Linus talks about it, showing that Luke had a much better understanding of the whole situation while Linus only cared about the T-shirts he sold because of it.

GN has again earned my respect for setting a friendship aside for a moment to report objectively.
I wonder if Linus can do the same thing and take this criticism to heart or if he'll dig himself a hole 🤔

Here is the video: (The LTT segment goes on until 15:35)

So what's your take on this?
Do you respect GN for going this route or do you think they only did it to cause more controversy for clicks?

For me LTT has lost an incredible amount of credibility purely because of their CEO's public behavior during the last year.

It was a couple of WAN shows ago that Linus talked about how companies are not your friend, not even LTT. Now he's shown that it's not just LTT who doesn't care about their community, but also their CEO who prefers T-shirt sales over a good relationship with his own community.

i think you need to chill...

Linus nuked his pop installation because he got a wall of text and didnt read what it said in its entirety. are you saying you read the entire terms and conditions when you sign up for something? Probably not. you just click next/accept. thats the same thing linus did. there was no indication for a normal person that this command would nuke his computer. thats the point of the video. to show what its like for the normal person. This situation was Pop_os's fault, not linus. they had some problems with the dependancies which have now been fixed.

you need to see this from the perspective of a NORMAL person who does not know how to use a computer and 99% of the time just uses their computer as a web browser. Linus uses windows, so I dont expect him to fully understand how linux works. sure, he uses it daily for all of the networking stuff etc, but still. his main system is windows.

im going to go out on a limb and say YOU are the reason people dont use linux.

Disclaimer: Please note: As I am as Anti-apple as it can get. My opinion might be Biased.
    ---------------
Does Tim Cook not know why ANTI-TRUST regulators exist. they exist to prevent this kind of monopolistic behavior.
That he addresses it specifically, i.e. that Anti-trust regulators, should stop this behavior, proofs that Apple is willingly violating said rules of anti-trust regulators.

From what i can see what he is trying to do is nothing other than DAMAGE CONTROL, hoping the Apple sheeps do not realize they should get better consumer protection, but their tech overlord does not allow them to get said protection.

KWelz reacted to Ena in MacStudio Storage Upgrade video Misinformation and Inaccuracies
I'm writing this because for once I've seen this LTT video and it did not sit right with me.

Seems like only surface level research was done on the topic, which resulted in poor execution of the process, many bits of misinformation, which overall resulted in a video with a wrong apple anti-repair biased conclusion.

Before I get into to the actual NAND upgrade part, at 9:30, Alex said that the Recovery environment was removed, which is wrong, the recovery environment still exists, however, you cannot reach it if the machine doesn't "POST", and because of  how the hardware is setup, the machine won't start if there is a hardware problem. you can still access it to reinstall/recover your os.

If Alex were to say that "unfortunately apple didn't made a way for the machine to recover the firmware by itself" it would be otherwise ok. since that is the truth.

Regarding the Upgrade process, in the video they acknowledge that the NAND modules are not full SSDs, which is correct. However the way they tackled the upgrade still was very "PC Centric", Research done by
Hector on twitter implies that the NAND upgrade is possible as long as you use a supported configuration.
The way they did the upgrade would be akin to upgrade a RAM Stick where half of the chips were from one vendor and half were from another.
I have not seen a single YouTuber show a proper upgrade where they for example, get a 1TB m1 Ultra and upgrade it with 2TB using the same configuration as a second m1 Ultra with a 2TB NAND.

I've seen the argument that, "the controller is programable so apple is blocking these SSDs from working", that is an absolute insane thing to say. because despite not being modular, what lives inside the macStudio (or all other modern macs) is an SSD, and an SSD is expected to be assembled the way it was engineered to work, it is not designed to accommodate random combinations of NAND setups, its the exact same way other manufacturers do it, like samsung for example, they would design a Firmware for their 970 nVMEs ssd for example. The board is designed in a way that many storage tiers can be accommodated, however the firmware only accepts the ones samsung designed them to work with.

I expected a better video from LTT, that went into these details and gave up a proper conclusion. They could make the argument that apple could've made their SSD's controller to support more random NAND configuration, which is fine.

But they concluded by saying that apple is Anti-consumer and anti repair, which, in many fronts, I agree with there are countless entries on their backlog to back this up.

However on this instance when they actually made something that is at least repairable, considering NAND is degradable part of the computer, and possibly upgradable despite what they say on their site about it not being upgradable. And even making the tool for it available to the public. Its absolutely crazy for me.

KWelz reacted to Kisai in How do you stop the computer case from giving electrocution
You likely appear to have a ground fault in your wiring. You'll need an actual electrician to fix it if it's the outlet.

If you're getting zapped, only one of these are true:
    1) The power supply is at fault
    2) The wall socket is at fault

Small zaps, like static, also need a path to ground. So if you're getting large zaps, that's not normal. Small static zaps can sometimes happen if the humidity has changed in the air, but it takes quite a bit of static build up to produce a zap. Where as a ground fault will generally keep zapping you, painfully, because you're completing a circuit by touching the metal of the case, and electricity wants to find the shortest path to ground of least resistance.

But nope it means exactly what I think it means. It's such a vulgar thing to mention in videos watched by so many children.

I'm ok with AMD cashing in a little bit no different than Intel if/when their gpu comes out, for the amount of work they actually had to put in to catch up, I'm actually more willing to support them at higher prices because they want to actually be better. whereas the big green daddy of cards really doesn't care and the 3080 Ti just proves that, if they wanted to compete with the 6900 XT they should have kept it equal price.

The Strix is the best non LN2 card on the market once you properly thermal pad it.  It has the highest internal power rail limits once you shunt mod the card (avoids MSVDD throttling in Timespy Extreme, unlike all other reference / FE cards that are shunt modded).

Coil whine isn't really an issue with .... well anything. It's highly subjective.

Coil whine noise , much like road noise with offroad tires , is pretty normal. I actually had to really turn up my audio and to be honest I can barely hear it in your video.

Coil whine could be perceived as loud by someone who only ever hears silence in their home. While it can be almost non existent to someone who's home has a loud furnace. The card isn't really made to be a card that you use in a library computer. It's made to move a ton of data. If the noise bothers you I'd highly recommend headphones as coil whine itself , can be caused by dozens of different things , none of which are an actual problem.

While this has been an interesting discussion about Userbenchmark, a benchmarking contest it is not.
No trolling or flame-bait. This includes topics such as AMD vs NVIDIA, "company X sucks", and religious debates Having a competition encouraging AMD and Intel users compete against each other isn't really a good idea, and will only end in flame wars between fanboys of either brand - especially when you are basing the competition on a benchmarking tool that is perceived as being heavily biased towards one brand.

Telling people to stop replying to a thread because you don't like what they're saying won't work. If people feel that the rules of the competition are unfair then they are welcome to discuss that, and trying to silence people from talking about it won't make those concerns go away.
Considering how this thread and your previous benchmarking thread went, it should be obvious that the community here isn't interested in participating in your benchmarking contests. Perhaps you will have more success with this in another community.
