MSI_PC_GAMER reacted to CrazyMike in New To the Linus Forums
Hey all,
Name is Mike. I'm brand new to these forums. I'm actually a member over at a different forum as well, but thought seeing as I watch LinusTechTips all the time, figured I'd hop on over here and offer any knowledge I have. Linus is a great guy and I support him all the way (even if he is from BC  ). So it's going to take me a bit to get familiarized with this forum. The one I am usually on is quite different for set up and navigation. Any help from you ladies and gents for any rules or regulations would be greatly appreciated.
As for me and my knowledge:
I am not the type of person you would see on the streets and expect to have knowledge about computers. I mainly am into the hardware side of things, but quite experienced in the software side as well (not specifically coding). I still classify myself as a "newbie" and still learning many other attributes with computing.
As for my setup:
My laptop is a Dell XPS specs are as follows:
17" 1920 x 1080 3D capable
Intel i7 - 2720QM
NVIDIA GeForce 555M Graphics 3D Vision
16GB RAM
x2 500GB HDD
JBL Audio
Razer Orchi Mouse
My Desktop specs are as follows:
Corsair 600T White Edition
Asus P8Z77-V-Pro Motherboard
16GB G-Skill Sniper series RAM
Asus GTX 660Ti 2GB Graphics Card
Intel i7-3770K (original clock right now)
Corsair TX850 Power Supply
120GB OCZ Agillity SSD; 500GB WD HDD; 1TB WD Black HDD; 500GB WD HDD (external)
Swiftech H220 CPU Cooler
24" Asus VW266H Monitor
51" Samsung Smart TV
SteelSeries Merc Keyboard
Razer Deathadder Mouse
Some Pictures of my Desktop and workspace:
So I would like to thank you guys for welcoming me to the forum. I hope to serve some help with any questions that I find on here :D
P.s If Linus reads any of this: "Keep up the good work bro!"

MSI_PC_GAMER reacted to ericlee30 in Why would you build a media pc?
If your a person like me and you have over 6TB of hardrive space full of movies then a Media PC is for you :) plus XBMC and PLEX are the boom, and you can buy a 4 channel DVR recorder mcard pci-e card and pay $2 for a Mcard with you local t.v. provider and get every channel that you would usually pay $120 for a month and only pay $10 a month :) o lots of savings and good investments oh yeah :P, That's why you would build a Media pc.

MSI_PC_GAMER reacted to ericlee30 in A "partial" proxy?
It hides your proxy all together, Basically it overlaps your existing IP address, So no matter what website you go to, you will be unknown.
I personally like this method better then using hide IP. You have to go through a few more loops with this method but it's more secure this way. It secures your privacy so much better then a program can do, manly because you have to set it your self.
Here are two of many websites you can get anonymous proxy's from
http://www.proxynova.com/proxy-server-list/port-8080/
http://www.freeproxylists.net/
I hope this helps you.

MSI_PC_GAMER reacted to ericlee30 in what is you prefer ¿the best 7970 in the word, or the best Titan?
I have 3 7950's in my rig :) but I'm not a Fanboy, I like both Nvidia and AMD. AMD just has the upper hand this go around :)

I couldn't agree with you more, AMD drivers are just so much more mature at this moment -
MSI_PC_GAMER reacted to ericlee30 in Why do people insist on comparing cards like this
True, I guess it all comes down to whether you feel that the extra money is worth it or not.

They are equal in the sence of saving money and only money, Hey if your mister bling bling then by all means blow every cent you have and go balls to the wall, but let me tell you I make a butt load of money and I still find ways to get around stuff, I would rather spend $2500 dollars on a custom loop and $400 dollars on a sweet case then buy a 7970 and waste the extra $200 bucks that I could be saving for other cool stuff, the 7950 can max out all games on the market anyways so if you want be my guest and waste that money lol :)
