even if that was the case, he is not compleatley against SLI either, THEY DO SLI BUILDS ALL THE TIME......i think.....maybe not

Yes this is a correct assumption, but in reality, can you really get a decent amount of money back from a lightly used GPU?

I understand that a single more powerful GPU is highly recommended, but in my current position wouldn't SLI be the best option?
