The Autore is my favorite product from their lineup and also one of my favorite mechanical keyboards on the market today. It's good to see manufacturers that stay away from flashy nonsense.

need a bit of advice, chrome is too cray
Alec Harpers replied to oThatsEric's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The problem is not with your CPU, it's with Chrome. It has turned into a massive resource hog lately. It's gluttony is a well documented issue, Google says it's looking into it but I wouldn't hold my breath. - First thing you can do is switch to Firefox and use Chrome as your secondary browser. Right now, Firefox is much faster and you can export all your bookmarks from Chrome to it. - Second thing you can do, If you really don't want to switch to Firefox, is close some of your Chrome extensions. That's gonna help a bit but it will still run slowly. - Whatever you do, don't push your OC for a web browser. That's like taking meth because your coffee grinder is slow. -
Bang for the Buck Z97 Motherboard Showdown Part 3
Alec Harpers replied to nicklmg's topic in LTT Releases
Thanx, I taught so as well, I just couldn't really verify it. Asus doesn't list the UEFI version for their mobos, they just list the functions included. I've compared the two, since my OP and the H97M-Plus has all of the functions of the Z97M-Plus.- 70 replies

Bang for the Buck Z97 Motherboard Showdown Part 3
Alec Harpers replied to nicklmg's topic in LTT Releases
Great video, but you could have gone longer with it. I know you don't want to bore casual viewers with long videos but casual viewers don't usually watch videos about UEFI's. Still, It was a great series and I hope you guys will consider doing similar overviews for the future generations of mobos (emphasis on UEFI's). Also, I have a question. Do H97 boards have the same UEFI ? (excluding the chipset limitations of course)- 70 replies

Be serious here guys, I've had a bad experience once when the Johnny Storm tried to steal my PC.

Connect them directly to the PSU. If they start, then you know that the fans are OK and the problem is with the mobo. Probably need to configure them from the BIOS like Godlygamer23 said. If they don't start then the problem is with the fans.

Any tips on enjoying different game categories?
Alec Harpers replied to caim1231's topic in General Discussion
If you don't like certain games, don't play them. There's tons of other things to do with your free time. -
Has anyone made a Doctor Who reference yet?

Mechanized Dragon-Spider.

There's a reason they are categorized. Studio monitors and hi-fi speakers have different sound signatures. Doesn't mean one is inherently better than the other, it means they are each intended for different uses.
-
Studio monitors are meant to give a very precise sound and are used for music production while hi-fi speakers are meant for home listening and have a more pleasant sound although not as analytical.
-
Don't buy a DAC just yet. If your mobo sounds OK, you can keep using it for a while and buy a DAC after you save up some money. As ZetZet suggested, Edifier makes decent speakers for the money. Harman/Kardon soundsticks 3, although they look cool, have horrible build quality and mediocre sound. I've read many different reviews about them since I wanted to buy them myself. Bookshelf speakers usually refer to passive speakers (not amplified, you'l need a dedicated amp for them). Amplified 2.0 speakers (both studio monitors and hi-fi) cost a bit more than 150$, at least the decent ones. Sorry I can't give you any concrete recommendations, I'm not familiar enough with the current budget speaker offerings.

That's not what rendering is, it's just buffering slower. Could be your internet, could be the YouTube servers.

What's so bad about the Cherry MX Reds for typing?
Alec Harpers replied to Zombater's topic in Peripherals
Because they are linear, it's very easy to accidentally press keys when typing. You can get used to them tough, in time. -
Come on Linus, if you want to review gaming chairs, you need to touch on the things that really matter. Dose it offer enough lateral support when cornering? Dose it have proper clearance for the 5 point harness? How much g force can it support? Gamers need to know these things.

Great video, great idea, can't wait to see the rest of the series. I've actually suggested a board overview a while back (I'm sure plenty of other members have as well). Big thumbs up to you guys for making it a reality. Suggestions (EDITED): Differences between the different BIOS'es (msi, Asus, Gigabyte, ASRock). Ease of use, amount of control, ease of update. I'm particularly interested in temporarily disabling/enabling one or more drives (including boot drives). How the different BIOS'es manage it (2-3 clicks or unnecessarily complicated)? Disabling/enabling GPU's. Switching between integrated graphics and dedicated GPU.

Review what ive made so far? PELEASE
Alec Harpers replied to FLAMMABLEGAS17481's topic in New Builds and Planning
The mobo is ATX but the case is MicroATX. You need to change one of them. EDIT: Sorry, didn't read that right. They're both MicroATX. If you stick with that case, check if the CPU cooler will fit in it. The air 240, although it's wide as a whole, has a narrow main chamber. 500 W may not cut it for a R9 290 + overclock. Don't quote me on that one tough, I might be wrong.
