Is the monthly clothing thing still a sponsor? -
Whenever I work on a roof, I recommend wearing socks and sandals. Definitely the safest footwear for the job.

PC suddenly crashed on me... (NEED ANSWER FAST)

If external display does nothing either, the cause of failure is most likely the graphics card. Try hitting fn+F5 with that display plugged in - most laptops will use that command to toggle the external display. -
How to clean Matte Finish on Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013
natecook replied to connorpiper's topic in Troubleshooting
Using isopropyl alcohol, Pledge Multi-Surface, and Magic Erasers, I can clean almost anything. -
What are the CrystalDiskInfo stats on the drive? I'd guess a software issue, but it can be a number of things, including bad or partially plugged SATA cables.
-
Beeping hard drive = failed hard drive. OP, if there's important info on the drive, don't freeze it. Attempt a software-based data recovery or send it to a data recovery specialist. If the data is not important, the freezing thing sometimes works. It works extremely rarely and always kills the drive soon afterwards as condensation builds up. Also, if it's a 2TB, I'm guessing that it's still in warranty. If I were you, I'd buy a new drive and an external enclosure. Use the new drive in your PC. When you get a refurbished 2TB drive back from warranty, pop it in the enclosure. I wouldn't keep important data on a refurb drive, but it's fine as a backup.

Rampage V Extreme USB port not working- help!
natecook replied to asim1999's topic in Troubleshooting
Sounds like you've answered your own question by testing on other ports. It's probably time for an RMA. The only two other possibilities: update BIOS, install USB drivers. -

Certainly sounds like GPU problems. Can you plug into an external display? Have you tried safe mode? -
Wait 1-4 weeks til the 780Ti owners are upgrading, then buy used. You saw the performance charts. Assume 60-90% SLI scaling in most AAA games.
-
This is always the case, like 580 ~ 670 ~ 760. My R9 290s can sit through this upgrade cycle. If your Titans need a new home, let me know.

DDR2 transition to DDR3 was the same thing - looser timings and near-equal clock speeds in the beginning. Depending on how retail edge winter sale shakes out, my upgrade may be waiting for longer than I initially planned.

That's a tough question. At 4k, you're not going to run at ultra settings, but AA also isn't as necessary at 4k on 28". Since they're around the same price for you, I'd wait to see about the panel in the Acer.

I really want to end tearing forever, but I'm going to wait for Freesync to mature. If I had the cash or knew I wanted only Nvidia cards, I'd upgrade now. I'll stick with my Dell U2711 for now.
-
OP didn't give a desired resolution. 1080p - Single 670 is fine with any game I've tried. 1440p - Even 670 SLI in my experience gets screen tearing and framerate dips at ultra settings. Could be something else in my setup, but that was my experience. Judging by post 21 here, I'm guessing something was wrong in my setup.

There are arguments for "positive" pressure, where you have more intake than exhaust. If all of your incoming ports are filtered, and the case is pushing air out of the cracks and crevices, there will be less dust. An example of this would be using 2x 140mm and 1x 120mm as intake and only 1x 120mm exhaust. The result of this is that there isn't a steady "wind tunnel" effect. In testing, the ideal is to be close to equal intake and exhaust. This gives you that wind tunnel effect, and your airflow will have fewer stagnant zones. In your Define R4, I would have 2x 140mm front intake, 2x 140mm top exhaust, 1x 140mm bottom intake, and 1x 140mm rear exhaust. That Sapphire GPU (like all other non-blower style GPUs) will circulate hot air around the case if you don't have a good path for airflow. I have a similar case with the optional top 120/140 fans or sound dampening. The sound dampening material is nice, but losing that exhaust kills the cooling ability.
