Best was amazon. Tried to buy ATH m50x's at $129. Well my order didn't go through and in the time it took me to get back over to the product it when up to $149. Then went on support, when I was waiting for a rep they went up to $179. So a $50 price boost in short time. Told him my order didn't process, and I ended up buying them at $169, but he said he would refund $40 back to my card, and I asked him if it could be $45 because I payed more in tax at the price point of 170 than 130, so he said yes and I got them for $124. GG amazon.Their support along with newegg's is just outstanding.

I made a post a while back about the worst support you've ever dealt with and with that gaining some popularity, time to change it up to success stories! So, whats the best support you've ever dealt with?

Mine would definitely be Amazon support. I've never had any big issues with them, but they were great with how they deal with the customers rather then arguing with them or asking for useless information, they get to the piont and usually always fix the problem. Best story would probably be a pair of headphones I bought from 2 years ago, they broke from wear and tear and were far out of warranty. For fun I just talked to amazon support, not expecting much. But to my surprise they gave me a full refund for it, pretty great stuff.

As the computer people we are, we have pretty much all at some point and time in our lives had to deal with customer support. Whats the worst support you've experienced with any tech company?

mine was best-buy with my old iPod 4, broken screen. they said they would "take it in" to see if they would charge me to fix it, to which they kept in the back for a grand total of about a months time. later, i get a call saying they would charge me $140 CAD to fix it. To that generous offer, I completely said they were crazy and declined (A brand new one would have been only $200 dollars mind you). I get a call back a week later saying that they fixed my iPod and they would like me to come in and pay for it, so i came and i told them that i had specifically said NOT to fix it, where they decided I was lying so I should simply pay up now. calls are recorded fro quality and training purposes right? well check the recordings. No-can-do they said, call the repair depot and ask them. after hours on the phone and another week of waiting with no response, i went back and re-explained the problem, where they said that they would take half-off the price. ridiculous still, but being tired as i was and just wanting my iPod back to get back to listening, i ponied up and paid. when i take the ipod out of the clearly super protective zip-loc bag they gave it to me in, i had come to relized that the screen they provided on the new iPod was defective and had very noticeable off-colors on the screen. so i went back into the store, yelled at the manager througha ll the hardship i went through, and with that, i got myselfa refund. happy ending? maybe. worth my time? absolutely not.

What are your craziest support stories?

Best support I've ever had was Tsukumo. They're a small chain of stores in the Akihabara district of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. I had to take my motherboard, RAM and CPU in for validation after getting post errors. They deduced for me that it was indeed the CPU, wrote a note to the store for me that it was confirmed to be a dead memory controller in order to address my concern that the store I bought it from would try to weasel their way out of refunding me for the dead processor. The whole process took 10 minutes, and I was sent on my way only having to pay, like, $4 for the consultation. I got the dead 2600K refunded, bought one from a more reputable store and went back home.

If you're in Japan and you're in need of electronics, go to the backstreets of Akihabara. DO NOT go to Sofmap. The smaller store chains have far superior customer service.

I own so little stuff that actually came from its own particular brand. Pretty much everything I have is used or built by me. Or both of those things. Except for my keyboard and mouse, which are a Quickfire TK and a G502, so those don't count - they're nigh indestructible, and have companies with legendary customer support backing them.

Ah, here's a good one. Apple. Because any chance to throw Apple and their poxy customer support under the bus is really great.

My parents had an iMac until about a few months ago. It had a Nehalem Core i5-750 running at 2.66GHz. Yeah. A 95W CPU with no/broken active cooling. That thing died multiple times and my parents would not throw it away. They refused for years. Then finally, it kicked the bucket entirely, and that was it. Apple went over it and [basically] said "yep, it's toast.". I was told to bring the computer and a hard drive into a store to back up all the stuff on the machine. Now, me being me, I have lots of hard drives lying around. So I went "ok", grabbed a 2TB HDD and headed straight over to the Apple store. The techie (who was super old and super grumpy - I've since noticed that people who work at apple stores are either the misfit hipsters of society, miserable or both) asked me if I'd brought the hard drive. I pulled out the hard drive from its antistatic bag, he looks at it, sighs and goes "uhhh, we're not supposed to use those"
I go "I don't have anything else big enough, and damned if I'm going to go down the mall and buy an overpriced external drive for one lousy backup."
he says "well, it's not static safe" and I go "My hobby is building computers, and I have nowhere to build except for carpet. It's fine."
He finally gives up trying to explain to me why it's unsafe to use one - because there was literally no risk of that ever happening in a mall with a hard floor and no balloons - goes into the back, pulls out a hard drive cage, grumbling about techies ruining their lives, or these damn kids or whatever. He brings back the hard drive caddy and goes "You know, we're really not supposed to do this --"
"I don't care, if you're too scared to plug the damn thing in, I'll do it."
I end up plugging in the drive, he starts the utility to pull the stuff off of the machine.

640GB of my dad's old stuff.
    Over a USB 2.0 interface.
I wasn't allowed to leave the mall. In retrospect, I really should have just left.

I spent 8 hours there before the guys comes back and says they're closing. So I just packed up and leave with what I could grab off of the old machine. That was the most horrible experience I've ever had, and I never want to go into another Apple store ever again. They couldn't just bring it into the back and do it over the next day or so, no, that would have made too much sense. 8 hours of being surrounded by hipsters, gullible people and gullible hipsters.

    I hate Apple so much...

My worst support is also my second best...

1 year and 3 days after I purchased my Samsung 60 inch (cheap) led television (low end orig price ~$500) it went out...
After contacting customer support I got the total run around. After 5 days straight of calling and bugging the heck out of managers I finally got them to service it. (Each call for 5 days was over 1 hour each). Once they agreed to service it it was 2 weeks before a tech could come out to look at it. On a side tangent each of the 5 days I told them on the phone the issue was the power supply board as I had looked up the specs and checked the output voltages but one of the 12v outputs was outputting 3v.
After the tech arrived he came with the controller board replacement (not the power board). With this he replaced the board and of course the TV did not work. For the next 2 weeks the same tech came out 7 times replacing EVERY PART except the power board (including the panel, besel, mount, back light, and even the buttons board (with an ir sensor)). After all of this I finally had it and called the company demanding better service. To be fair I used my pull as the person who buys all my companies tech and quoting the number of Samsung devices we have. Once I spoke to them they immediately apologized and offered to replace the unit... one problem, they stopped making this one. So after about an hour they called back and offered me the "next model" for an additional $300. At first I was pissed that they wanted me to pay more, but after I looked into the unit I happily accepted. I am now very happy with my beautiful 60" 240hz plasma, smart, 3d television!!! At the time that they gave it to me this model was $1,399.99 at BestBuy!!!
Thanks Samsung!!!! I really appreciate how you treat your valued customers... Even if it was hell to get you to do it.

    Heyyo,
Well, with an Intel G3258 you HAVE to overclock it to get performance tbh...
BUT... to Max out graphics at 1920x1080 and have an average fps over 60? You'd need this as a minimum:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($286.50 @ shopRBC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($33.98 @ DirectCanada)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($104.99 @ Canada Computers)
    Memory: Patriot Signature 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($49.99 @ NCIX)
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($59.75 @ Vuugo)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 390X 8GB SOC Video Card ($529.99 @ NCIX)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ Memory Express)
    Total: $1155.19
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Otherwise? You can step down the CPU to an i3 and yeah, still get decent performance... but for GPU for near max at 1920x1080 and maintain 60fps? You'd want an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD R9 390 which are both around the same price and performance too.
Oh, and pick out your own case and stuff... NZXT S340 is smexy... but I freaking love the Fractal Design Define S.

Don't buy any AMD products, no AMD GPUs or CPUs. They overheat and the software is bad. Nvidia is better
Corsair products are cheapo and suck so don't buy those.
Coolermaster is bad too, they have cheap plastic cases.
Gigabyte has rip off motherboards that break in a month.

Razer is about the only good brand.

I do exhibit fanboy-behavior relatively often, but I have to agree that Xbox is a way better media center. In the end I think I'll just get an Nvidia Shield (the android box) and install Kodi on that.
