  1. Are there measurements for the VHB plates? I'd like to know how large dimensionally each of the plate sizes are.
  2. What happened to this video idea where you spill coke onto a bunch of laptops and test their repairability?
  3. I wanna carry around a GPD Win 4, or a handheld console like a 3DS/Vita with me but my pockets are too awkward. I wanna see an extremely minimal sling bag that goes in front of my chest and it holds just the console/PC. Virtually nothing else. It should be so comfortable I will not need to take it off for any reason.
  4. You can do what Linus does at home and just move the entire computer into another room. Then just use an optical thunderbolt cable and a thunderbolt dock to move video, KB, mouse, and other IO to and from the two rooms.
  5. I was hoping to fix this card up and flip it, so I don't need a replacement. Do you think it's the GPU die itself that's dead?
  6. I have an EVGA 2GB GTX 770 that won't display video out. Booting off of the iGPU and installing its drivers will give me a code 43 in device manager. I've tried measuring the resistances and voltages in the attached picture and nothing seems wrong there. So my last option is to run MATS for memory testing. I followed Tech Cementery's guide for creating the MATS USB stick and it works properly booting off the iGPU with no 770 installed. When I try to run MATS off of the 770, the whole computer will just shut off after about 30 seconds and there's no report on the USB stick.
  7. At 8:17 in the video, was that "deeper dive with numerous rtx 30 series laptops" ever published?
  8. I am so so glad steam input was mentioned, although I wish it went just a little bit more in depth or at least mentioned the old video about flick stick and gyro and how it can be implemented via steam input
  9. I love how GN's modmat has pinouts and to size RAM silhouettes. The problem I have with it is that there isn't one that spans from DDR1 to DDR5. I also work with laptops regularly so in ADDITION to desktop DDR1 to DDR5, I would also like silhouettes for LAPTOP DDR1 to DDR5.
  10. I wish the holster had molle on it so I could slip it onto an airsoft belt and make my own tool belt
  11. I'm rewatching the old video about mechanical keyboard switches. Given the explosion of DIY enthusiasts for keyboards in the past 10 years, I would love to see a whole SERIES about the ins and outs of the keyboard hobby
  12. At 3:19, Linus was talking about how to use AIDA64's memory tests to identify system bottlenecks. Does anyone have a guide or insight on how to start the tests and interpret the data?
  13. I just switched from my Galaxy S7 to a OnePlus 5T. And to address your biggest concern, no, none of my SMS messages transferred over to my new phone. I set up my phone by using Tap and Go, which was introduced back in Lollipop. When I setup my new phone, pretty much everything transferred over. Photos were previously backed up by Google Photos (however, they are not stored locally on my device), for music, I already have a subscription to Play Music, so music could redownload quite quickly. Apps were all downloaded and reinstalled as soon as I first booted up my phone. Contacts were already backed up to the cloud, so I didn't lose anyone's phone number. Pretty much the only thing that I didn't get back on my new phone were my old SMS messages, and I had to relogin to all of my apps, but not a big deal. The Pixels include a USB OTG adapter and special software that lets you move over EVERYTHING including SMS messages. Android phones are a hell of a lot different than the Note 2 and G3 that you were used to, they're all really nice now, with great hardware and software. (Although I wouldn't buy an S8 for the software though...)
  14. I think there's a serious disconnect between an SoC's raw performance versus the Real World User Experience of a phone. OK, the raw performance of the phone under benchmarks didn't change, and that's still good, but benchmarks are not the way to measure a phone's smoothness (or how much it stutters). I wish the researcher would have contacted one of the writers at XDA-Developers to learn more about real world UX and tools to investigate how smooth a phone really is, such as GPU Profiling
  15. I think "BOTH." is a very valid answer. To be honest, Broadwell was just for mobile CPUs, and there were very few desktop CPUs on that platform. In my mind, it was practically just a skip in generation. They could have just done that again, and not waste time and resources on a KABY LAKE REFRESH. Instead, just delay Coffee Lake a little bit so we can get that 6-core goodness
  16. This is exactly why I'm confused about X299 replacing Z270.
  17. So I've heard about Intel's insane Skylake-X lineup, from the Core i7-7800X all the way up to the Core i9-7980XE behemoth and their X299 platform. Another thing that I found interesting are the i7-7700K and i5-7600K refreshes, the Kaby Lake-X i7-7740X and the i5-7640X running on the same X299 platform. If the Kaby Lake-X refreshes are supposed to replace the 7700K and 7600K, (you know, to move everyone over to X299 (with a slightly more expensive motherboard) for the future upgrade paths) what does this mean for Z270? Does Intel expect everyone to hop over to the X299 no matter what? Is Z270 going to hit the bucket or will it be meant as some weird chipset alternative that's only a few hundred cheaper than the flagship that will have an excellent upgrade path?
  18. Hey, you wanna watch U.S. Politics with me?
  19. Oh no, I have a spare 1 TB hard drive in storage. I'll be using that to store everything. I just wanted a boot SSD.
  20. I'd prefer a MicroATX computer, as I have a firm suspicion that I will be lugging this computer around with me to college.
  21. Unless I can update the BIOS without another LGA 1151 CPU, that is a problem. I don't want to get a skylake CPU just to update the BIOS. If I can download that BIOS update from my dying X51 and stick it on a USB stick, that's fine. I just need a guide for that, as I've never flashed a new BIOS before. Do you have a specific card in mind, I don't want to spend much more than 600 dollars.

I'm really looking forward to Ryzen, but Ryzen 5 doesn't come out until in another 2 weeks. Also I can't find any cheap B350 boards below 80 bucks. And if I'm going AMD, I demand a B350 board, because free overclocking (Even on the stock cooler). You guys can help me decide which team I go with this time. I'd like to spend around 600 dollars US. I'll be using this computer for web browsing as well as serious gaming at 1080p with one monitor for gaming. I have no plans for 1440p, and since I'll be a college student soon, VR is out of the question. Besides, I can just stick a 1060 in there if I really want VR for some reason. Don't worry about peripherals, I have a KB, mouse, and two monitors that I can reuse. Windows 10 is 20 dollars because I plan to buy a key off Kinguin or G2A or something like that. I need this computer because my X51 is currently going on the fritz. It's hard crashing after an hour or so of gaming. Windows itself is claiming that it's a hard power loss. I've already started a thread on the forum. If you have any solutions, please see the thread linked.
  23. So I dusted my PC out yesterday. And it's still crashing, especially on Rainbow 6. Funnily enough, I expected it to crash while playing comp CSGO, but it didn't. I'm going to call Alienware support tomorrow and see what they can do for me. Do you think it's the power supply? Do you have any further advice for what I can do?
  24. I'm actually surprised that Apple responded.
