I couldn't get any work done tonight because of this. Travis CI was, and still kinda is, down. There goes a productive night

Appendicitis, while on vacation, had to get surgery and then we had to leave vacation early. But luckily we just left our campground in the mountains, if we were still there I probably would have to have been airlifted from the campground due to the remote location. I get sick on every vacation

We all make mistakes, I was going to put one in mine until I dug up a thread on the pfSense forums.

Agreed, that is why I don't post in that sub forum.

    So this happened today:

    http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486021-intel%E2%80%99s-7th-generation-kaby-lake-and-200-series-chipset-platform-detailed-%E2%80%93-compatible-with-lga-1151/

    http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/486023-rumor-kaby-lake-desktop-coming-q4-2016-24-pcie-30-lanes/

The top thread got posted 4 minutes before me, and is just copy pasted except for the poorly written sentence

"They say increased core performance. So a next big performance increase since Sandy Bridge inc?. to bad its stil  far away."

The second thread is mine, where I typed up 10 sentences summarizing the news as well as including some conclusions not made in the original source, such as the fact that triple card setups will be able to run at 8x - 8x - 8x for the first time on the mainstream consumer chipset. It got locked because I took the extra time to improve quality, and as a result, was four minutes after the copy paste post.

This thing has happened before, and it'll keep happening until people start following posting guidelines. To quote from the posting guidelines:

Yet it seems the only rules followed on a strict basis seem to be

    and

This frankly discourages me from spending any extra amount of time improving my post. I don't post in news much, only stuff from WCCF, Anandtech, and Tom's Hardware, but when I do I'm constantly trying to post in a timely manner while still retaining quality. High profile topics like those involving Intel, AMD, and Nvidia always seem like a race to post first, improve later (if at all). Some people have circumvented this by posting a title and just writing "Writing post" or something similar in the actual post, then taking a few extra minutes to complete their post properly. That's great and all, but when I first tried this, the thread got locked in under 3 minutes and I had to wait an hour for it to get unlocked and finished.

What I'm asking is, that for the sake of encouraging quality in the news, can there be some sort of formal exception for those who wish to improve their threads without getting beat to the post by someone giving minimal effort?

I know some people will say this is just me being butthurt and whining about it, but this genuinely and consistently affects that quality of the news being posted and is a problem.

There were a few issues with that so maybe they are being fixed.
