These are the preliminary stats, this is a list of everyone, even those that did not meet the minimum requirements as I think it is important to celebrate everyone who got involved! The awards ceremony will be posted sometime in the next 48 hours if all goes to plan so keep your eyes open for it.

In the meantime I would just like to thank everyone who got involve and folded for the event, even if you did not meet the minimum requirements I want you to know that you are still appreciated, you are still very much a part of this team. We fold for any number of reasons, in memory of a lost loved one, to help others simply for the sake of helping others, to gain more internet points than the next guy or for some even simply for the giveaway. No matter your reasoning, be proud of what you are part of here. Look back over the last five weeks with pride and joy.

As many of you may know I have had a lot of alcohol tonight. My dads wife has had good news regarding her recent cancer operation so we have been celebrating, I'm not going to lie that I am quite overcome by the effects of alcohol. This blog post will be short due to the use of voice-to-text software.

We have Den-Fi wearing the crown with 1,711.05 million points, Macaw2000 with 1,141.14 million points and in third place rodarkone with 752.71 million points. Unilevers on in fourth with 723.84 million points followed by miker07 in fifth with 654.80 million points, Gorgon remains in sixth place with 633.35 million points, Shlouski is on seventh with 499.53 million points, _Rlocke in in eighth place with 481.32 million points, LAR_Systems in ninth with 400.69 million points and finally the gatekeeper remains the fortified Justaphf with 390.83 million points.

This may not be correct @marknd59 has helped and I've used voice to text to write this, thank you for everyone sticking with us.

givingtnt reacted to colonel_mortis for a blog entry, LTT Forum Tech Stack
The LTT forum is built on Invision Community (previously known as IPS and IPB), an off-the-shelf forum software. The majority of the code that powers the forum is theirs, and the technologies that we can use are largely constrained by what Invision Community supports.

The backend is written entirely in PHP, using a custom framework built specially for Invision Community. Some type annotations have been introduced into the codebase recently, but most of the code was written before PHP supported types and is therefore untyped (this applies to both IC's code and our custom additions). For a sense of scale, there are over 450,000 lines of PHP in Invision Community, and about 12,000 lines of LTT-specific PHP.

Data is stored in MySQL, Elasticsearch and Redis. MySQL is the source of truth for all of the data in the system, and interaction with it from the backend code use Active Records. User content is duplicated into Elasticsearch to power the search functionality, as well as activity feeds and content feeds on user profiles (everywhere that combines content of multiple different types into one view). Redis is just used as a cache for frequently accessed or expensive values.

Requests are handled using NGINX, and your requests also pass through Cloudflare before getting there to the server.

All of the backend services are hosted on one server, with a 16 core EPYC processor. On the server, we're running CentOS 8.

For the frontend, all of the HTML rendering is performed on the server side, using a custom HTML template syntax that works similarly to mustache (although with considerably less polish). Writing this code is virtually identical to writing raw HTML, except that you can use variables, use loops, and import other templates. Invision Community also has its own front end CSS framework, which generally works well to minimise the specific CSS required for each new feature.

Continuing with the trend, there is also a custom Javascript framework for attaching controllers to elements and for declaring and using UI widgets. The framework is built for ES5 + jQuery; while it is possible to use ES6+ features in custom code, there is rarely enough that needs doing with custom code to be able to make use of much.

We can easily edit the PHP, HTML and CSS provided by Invision Community, both using their hook system and by directly modifying code on our fork of the code, but the Javascript framework is generally not editable because it doesn't provide a generally useable hooking mechanism and the code is stored in the database rather than in files. This means that custom javascript is generally limited to only the small amount needed to support new functionality; accordingly, we only have about 400 lines of LTT-specific JS.

I've also built a couple of GitHub actions in Typescript to automate some boring tasks, such as updating the repo with the latest version of Invision Community.

Ladles and gentlespoons, four days down, ten days to go, it seems like many people have been clambering to up their production, but how much of a difference is this likely to make, only time will tell!

The great team of LTT continues to steam ahead, blowing all previous records out of the water! It was once said that when the call to action came in the enthusiast community would be too selfish to mobilise in great numbers, well here we are! Standing tall, proud, unified! We have dedicated so many resources, so much time, and power. We throw ourselves into the task, babysitting our devices, reading up ways to maximise our production, supporting each other! Thank you to every single one of you who has joined the fight against COVID-19, and I hope to see you hang around the folding team after all this is over. All are welcome here at team LTT!

Look at this amazing Video from EOC that shows our climb up the ranks, and I believe it would be amazing to see this climb continue.

In first place the king @Den-Fi sits on his throne, holding onto the crown with an amazing 64.49 million points, he id really pulling ahead and now we find ourselves asking, can he be conquered. Second place is occupied by @ZombieStew, but with 37.85 million points I'm sure he has come to terms with the fact that he won't be sitting on any thrones by the end of this. @miker07 takes third place with 36.95 million points, he could seriously be looking to take the number two spot if he can only find himself a little more grunt to throw at the problem. With a wide gap opening up behind him he must be feeling pretty secure as @Xoggy comes in fourth with 25.4 million points, the X man doesn't have the power needed to advance further by the looks of it and there are a few further down the table that could be a challenge to him over the coming days. Fifth place is taken up by @n0xlf, it looks like they have had a tough day folding only bagging 3.4m points bringing his total up to 23.5 million, if he is wanting to keep that spot there needs to be more power thrown at the problem! @Fapasaurus is in 6th with 19.2m points, but with a production of 4.8m he could prove to be a challenger for the ahead of him if he plays the cards rights. Sitting 1.9m points behind him we find @BlackAda with 17.3m points. @Favebook finding himself in in 8th in such a large competition goes to show some of the pedigree we have here in the ranks, but, as he will know quite well, everything can change during the event. With 16.8m points he is in a precarious place, as not far behind we have @Unilevers who has already been promoted from the gatekeeper spot with 16.5m. The new man of the gate of the top 10 is @Ayren, with 15.9m it can be said that they are pulling theor weight to keep that place in the rankings for sure! 11th place we have @LAR_Systems who has fallen out of grace with the folding gods and has fallen down the stack, holding on with 15.6m it's all to place for to squeeze into the top 10! @Yabdat, another well seasoned folder is sitting in 12th place with a comfortable 15.5m, he will almost certainly be looking at these numbers closely to see if theres an advantage to be had. But, it will be important for him to cast his eyes to his rear as we have @HybridTI outpacing him and only a divide of 200k points separate the two folders. But the predator that is @Macaw2000 is firing on all cylinders, having both of them in their sights by outproducing then with a total of 15.2 million points so far! And in 15th place we have @catawalks, the walker of cats, the purveyor of felines, holding into the last of the top 15 spots with 15.1m points.

Looking down the stack we do have some more interesting guys popping up, like @BlueSpartan, who with a production of 2.5m points in the last day could truly be planning to make a splash. @cyberguy91, @abakus3k and @madarus are also ones to watch for sure in the coming days!

As you can see it all so very exited here. With the top spots being passed back and forth as people try their bast to force more production out of their machine, but, be cautious, because if you push it too far you may drop WUs and although this early in the game it may not be world-ending. I'm sure you'd end up with a little egg on your face regardless!

givingtnt reacted to colonel_mortis for a blog entry, A breakdown of Saturday's outage
Timeline of the outage: (times in UTC)
Starting at 02:03 on Saturday, requests started intermittently returning error 502, and many of the requests that were served successfully were significantly slower than normal At 05:59, most of the services on the server crashed. All subsequent requests were served by Cloudflare with error code 502 At about 11:00, I came online and attempted to diagnose the problem. Due to the previous failures I was unable to access the server, so all I was able to do was route traffic to an offline page At 16:35, with extra help, the server was forcibly restarted At 16:43 the server seemed to have come up successfully, so we enabled traffic and monitored the status By 16:53 it was clear that performance very poor and a significant fraction of the requests were resulting in error 502 (which means in this case that the server was already processing too many requests, so where were no workers available), so we disabled traffic again to investigate the situation further At 17:36, there was nothing clearly wrong so we tried enabling traffic again At 17:39 the performance was significantly regressing again so the site was turned offline again At 18:00 we ordered a new server At 18:35 the server was ready to be set up with all of the forum-related things, and for the data to be migrated to it At 21:28, the new server was fully set up and the forum was turned back online
    What were the symptoms?
IOWait accounted for the majority of CPU time, but IO utilisation was relatively normal In the syslog we were seeing a number of IO timeouts for the primary drive Prior to rebooting, the limited errors that we could see indicated that there had been disk corruption
    What was the root cause?
Although we aren't 100% sure, we think it's fairly likely that one of the two RAID 1 disks that form the primary disk had failed, and the poor performance was a consequence of trying to rebuild the array.

Why replace the server rather than the disk?
There were already plans to replace the server, this failure just accelerated them. We were also of the opinion that having the disk replaced and getting the array rebuilt would likely not end up being faster, especially as we did not have sufficient information to pinpoint the failure.

I dont have the time to write out the ranks but here you are. We have seen an explosion of production for the final sprint of the event and it will be good to see if everyone can keep it up.

Also, I just want to add that if we suspect you are purposefully just skimming the minimum requirements you may be disqualified. If we see you produce one WU per day for the last 15days for instance we may feel the need to investigate.

If you guys thought a little stint in the hospital was going to keep me down you're wrong! Time to smash out another update. PS there has been some strange behaviour with the Stanford server this cycle so if your numbers seem of it is not our fault!

Tomerrs is holding onto first my the skin of his teeth with 151million points, The king is looking like he intends to take back his throne by force with 147.7million points, _Rlocke is too looking to be challenging Tomerrs with 130.5million.  In 4th we have the corporate backed Jakkuh with 93.6million points, Gorgon takes 5th with 61.3million points. In 6th we have Dissitesuxba11s with 51.5million points, the fish-faced Porina takes 7th with 49.8million, Ben Quigley takes 8th with 48.6million. Cereal5 takes 9th with 43.6million points and Palespartan is now in 10th with 40.5million.

Last night I spent six hours trying to fix the sheet, for the most part it is fine and dandy but a few users numbers seem off and I can not work out why, when hes back online later I will see if @Gorgon can have a look and maybe he can fix the issue! The following four users have been identified as having under reported figures, @choccobear, @DUW1G1T, @D_Newb and @[REDACTED]. Guys, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to fix your numbers for this update and I am hoping Gorgon and come and find the elusive issue.

In first we have Tomerrs holding onto that throne with 79million points, The king is in second with 65.5milion, _Rlocke is in third with 51.4million, Jakkuh is in fourth with 50.6million. Fifth place is taken by Gorgon with a gap of around 18million points. Ben Quigley Sits in sixth with 28.8million, Followed by Dissitesuxba11s with 28.1million points, Porina has 26.1million points, Palespartan is in 9th with 23million points, Cereal5 is the gatekeeper of the top 10 with 21million.
Yabdat finds himself in 11th with 18.7million, Invaderzim is in 12th with 16million, TVwazhere follows with 14.2million. Willhemmens holds 15th with 12million. RollinLower has help onto 16th with just shy of 12million. CagedAnimalz, Stijnman and Sazrocks are all hovering around the 11million mark. And in 20th we have one of our question entries, DUW1G1T at 10million.

Most of the ranks seem to be pretty fixed for the time being, Tomerrs holding onto first, the king in second, @Yabdat looks like he can push a few more ranks up the table, Interestingly if @_Rlocke keeps up this rate of production there's a chance he could take the throne from Tomerrs. But, in the past we have seen 10million in a day from Tom so we will have to see how that goes.
The overall team has seen over 230million points of production over the last 24hours..

Please remember we have minimum participation requirements, these are 100k points, 15WUs, and 15 days of having activity over the course of the whole month.

First thing sorry about the delay, with the preparations for automation we made a few mistakes that needed fixing before the update, I am aware of one issue that is still persisting and that is the fact that 2-5 people will not be on here that have been on past ones, if you are concerned just create a message with me and @Gorgon. But, please, try not to worry we are working the problem. These numbers will be off by 3 hours, as we have switched from EOC servers to using straight Stanford data. So you will see 12.5% more point production today than realistically you achieved, but all totals are correct. Once again don't worry about it.

Now with the disclaimers and excuses out of the way, onto the juicy juicy stats...

Sitting on the throne is still Tomerrs, with 37.7million points! The figurehead of old, King Poet is in second, with 33.9million points, Jakkuh is in third with 26.6million. Dissitesuxba11s is in 4th with 17.3million points and Ben Quigley has managed to stay in the top 5 with 16.8million points. Gorgon is in 6th, with 16.6million. He is followed by the fishy Porina, with 15.3milion, _Rlocke is 1.5million behind him. Palespartan finds himself 9th place with 13million points, Cereal5 rounds up the top 10 pack, with 10million points.
Invaderzim117 is holding onto the 11 spot with with just shy of 9million. DUW1G1T, TVwazhere, D_Newb and Yabdat are all fighting for places 12-15 with around 7.5million points. Theres then another gap of around 1million points have opened up and we have another grouping. RollinLower, Willhemmings, CagedAnimalz and Stilnman all have around the 6.5 million mark and are fighting to push themselves higher up the top 20!

Can anyone even begin to challenge the great @Tomerrs, Our only hope is @jakkuh_t with his corporate sponsor behind him, Its looking like @Ben Quigley will be losing the top 5 spot at this rate, @_Rlocke looks like he could be a challenge to the king at this rate. @palespartan needs to be careful and look back, as hes going to be forced out of the top 10 with the way things are set at the moment.

Please remember we have minimum participation requirements, these are 100k points, 15WUs, and 15 days of having activity over the course of the whole month.

I pulled an all-nighter night before last to get the spreadsheet fixed, So last night I crashed and slept like a baby, the spread should be fixed, some of today's points production may seem high for a few people but that was to bring them in line with their real total points. The week column is perfect, thus the most important data is not exactly as needed. The reports should be completely accurate from now on unless mistakes are made. Just as a side note the event members have produced 79% of LMGs total point production over the last 24 or so hours.

Now with that out of the way lets look at the standings so far, there have been some changes happening over the last day or so. The King himself is remaining comfortably in his throne sat at the top of the rankings approaching 14million points, Porina has come in to steal the number two spot sitting there with 6.9million followed closely by BenQ with 6.8million. Dissitesuxba11s has managed to increase production and is now finding themselves in forth with 6.6million. Gorgon is still holding 5th place with 5.6million, but Palespartan has gained a little ground on him now with 5.2 million. Jakkuh seems to be making a challenge to the king himself with a showing of 4.1million points produced in his first day competing alone, hes currently sitting at 7th. There's a notable gap between 7th and 8th, TVwazhere and Tomerrs are fighting it out for 8th place with 3.4 and 3.2million points respectively, but Cereal5 is only behind by around 30k points.
After the top 10 there's a fair gap building up, with 400k between Invaderzim117 and 10th place, Cagedanimalz is pulling in with only around 100k points separating him from 11th.  Stijnman and D_Newb are sitting right on top of each others with 2.6 million each, Its a close one, with only 10k separating the two we're practically splitting hairs.
15th-17th places are all slip by no more than 50k and James sitting in 18th seems to have been knocked down a peg from his supposed ally Jakkuh coming into the frey. Powelljl is on 19th with 2.1million but he has willhemmens stepping up to him fast and hard!

Will the king keep his throne from the threat of @jakkuh_t, can @Ben Quigley regain his place as second on the podium, or is this the start of a long downfall. @Dissitesuxba11s has some some real aggression to get into forth, But is it enough to secure one of those elusive podium places. @Gorgon may seen safe and secure but looking at the production rates of some lower on the board the question has to be asked, can he weather the storm, not only is @palespartan challenging him on every corner we have the latest entries coming in trying to make a name for themselves. @Tomerrs is also firing himself up the ranks like a cannon ball, but does he have the stamina to go all the way. Then we have @leadeater and @DUW1G1T both producing over 1.2million points but are currently sitting pretty low in the rankings. I'm expecting to be mentioning their names more often in the coming days.

If your numbers seem off, or you cant find yourself on the list then please do get in contact with me and I will double check on your data, we currently have 310 sign-ups but only 186 have produced any points so far for the event.
