  1. any word on this? the released images look pretty darn similar
  2. So I currently have the 1080 strix (watercooled with a nickle + acetal block) and i'm thinking about upgrading to the soon to be released 1080 ti strix, but I have a few concerns. Looking at what the waterblock fits, which is literally all the strix models 1060-1080 (see photo), is it possible to use the block I already have on the upcoming 1080 ti? I know EKWB is releasing a new block for it, but looking at photos of the pcb it looks almost identical to the pcb of the regular 1080 strix... If aforementioned block does not fit, is it worth upgrading? (I just recently upgraded to the 1080 so technically I could return my current GPU) If aforementioned block does not fit, how much does it not fit, cause like I said, it seems to be pretty dam close? Are we talking like one or two screws won't hold the card together or is it much worse than that? Or maybe is there a different aftermarket pcb that will fit the block I already own? Discussion and input is greatly appreciated
  3. I mean it wasn't the full 700 but 670 (ROG strix here) is pretty close. but the blocks for them were also 150 a piece so there's that Edit: I guess an extension of my question would be will the 8 GB's vs 11 GB's of VRAM really make that much of a difference, considering the base/boost clock on my cards is the same if not higher than the founder's 1080 ti
  4. ATM its a 1080p projector but im planning on getting an LG 4k OLED in the summer, and that was kinda the whole point of this build. to be able to game in 4K
  5. At the moment the definitely do. but you know, for science and what not
  6. So not too long ago (>30 days) I got 2 1080's and technically their still within the "return" period through amazon. Is it worth the upgrade to the 1080 ti's? I feel like i should also mention that my 1080's are 1080 strix that are watercooled, so unless i'm wrong (and someone please confirm this) i would have to replace the water blocks as well. Alright, open discussion, GO!
  7. From the last video Luke posted on GTX 1080 SLI it seems like for most games 2 of them did at least 60 FPS in 4K max. At least the new titles
  8. So there currently is no single card setup to run 4K at high/ max? lol
  9. Alright, so I've tried to look around to see if there is an answer for my question, but since i'm running 2 R9 290x's in CF I can't seem to find out exact information. Base clock for both of them is ~1330 Mhz. So I'm thinking of upgrading my GPUs to either the 1080 strix or the 1080 SC because, I want to go into 4K gaming. Right now I'm gaming on a 1080p projector and even now with most of the AAA titles my 2 GPUs can't run max settings anymore and really most games have to run closer to medium (and this is on 1080p) so I really don't think they will be able to do much in 4K but I have no way to test it right now (aside from super-sampling from the GPU, but IDK if that is a good indicator of true 4K performance). So is it worth the upgrade? Will I see much of a performance boost? Or should I just wait for the next iteration of cards to come out before upgrading? Cost wise I'm guessing after selling the 2 cards I'll end up more or less even, so it really isn't that big of a deal here. And from what i've deducted going into 1080 SLI wouldn't be worth it so... yea. The only think I found was upgrading from a R9 295 to a 1080 would be a 22% increase in performance, and about a 48% increase in performance from 1 R9 290x. Any thoughts would be great!
  10. all those look like quality laptops that will get the job done. I really did like the 1800p display on the XPS 15, i couldn't find any of those in a higher resolution that 1080, or am i just not looking hard enough
  11. so i went to my local best buy today to see if they had any of the laptops i wanted on the floor. and god damn does the XPS 15 look amazing. I also decided to forego a dedicated gpu if need be and maybe get a 2 in 1. They were showing off a spectre x360 with a native 4K display? that can't be right is it? but the lenovo yoga line look quite good as well
  12. Hey guys, After looking through the forum a bit I didn't find the answers I was quite looking for. I'm starting grad school in the fall and I will need a daily driver to use in class/ studying/ potentially at home. Going to a health science field, so I really won't be doing much rendering or photo/video editing. I have a monster desktop built so I realistically wouldn't be gaming on it (except for the occasional LAN). So the three I currently like are 1. Dell XPS 13(6500U, HD 5500, 256 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM 3200x1800 ~$950) 2. Dell XPS 15 (cant find the specs for the one I wanted right now) and 3. MSI GS S372 Stealth (6700HQ, GTX 965m, 128 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM 1920x1080 ~ $1,250) Any feedback or new ideas would be greatly appreciated!
  13. Hey LTT, My little brothers birthday is coming up soon and I wanted to surprise him with a solid upgrade for his computer. So I ended up getting him a 290x to upgrade his pre-built all in one desktop the lenovo ideacenter k330. After I bought a new PSU to supply the GPU the computer anddd then it wouldn't post. After digging around on tomshardware i found out the the mobo only supports 3 GPUs go figure. So i got him a new mobo as well, but now the case pins have a lot more pins than the mobo has. Not only that but all the paperwork i have for the computer doesn't tell me what the exact case pinout is (I have the one for the mobo). The only thing that sort of helped was a pinout for an A60 series of computers from lenovo. I'm here to ask if anyone has had any experience tracing back a pinout and figuring out what each pin is. Or if someone has the pinout for the k330 that would be nice too :3 I contacted lenovo customer service but they only gave me a differnt number to call for the case manufacturer. I figured I would check here in the mean time to see if anyone could help Thank in advance!
