Anyone who was wanting to pick up a 7950/7970/280X but couldn't, watch ebay for people who are in despair selling their mining equipment. I might pick up a couple if they become abundant and cheap enough

manofcolombia reacted to RuecanOnRails in Litecoin Mining Pool Invites: Spread The Hashes
With the recent hype surrounding Litecoin, a lot of new miners and a lot more hashing power has been added to the network.
While the enthusiasm is great, the distribution of Hashing power is not looking to good. It's important to prevent one pool from acquiring a large % of the network.
You can view estimates of each known pool and their respective amount of the network.
https://www.litecoinpool.org/pools
A lot of new comers are joining up with WeMineLTC due to them being a large pool with a nice feature set. The amount which they are ahead of other pools is a bit concerning. Reaching over 30% of the network recently. if a bad actor were to launch an attack using that pool. There was a forum post regarding this same issue a week ago. I am bringing this up again as it continues to need attention. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/84312-psa-try-and-use-other-mining-pools-in-place-of-wwwwemineltccom-they-are-near-25-of-the-network-hash-rate/
To help divide the hashrate at least on this forum, I have a few dozen invites readily available for https://www.liteguardian.com/secure/ An Invite only pool. Liteguardian is a low fee 2% PPS pool great for part time and full time miners alike.
If you would like an invite, I will require an email address to send the invite to. Please send me a PM with an email. Don't expose your email in public forums unless you like to be target of spam bots hehe.

manofcolombia reacted to RuecanOnRails in BTC-E and the best way to sell LTC and get your money
Using http://www.gyft.com/ you can get 3% off Amazon, and many other gift cards when paying with Bitcoin. Exchange your Litecoin to Bitcoin, then use the Bitcoins to buy from Gyft. They don't accept Litecoin directly, you can message and request them to add support for it. Support for Litecoin purchases will only happen as more people want to use it.
In short, using Gyft and Bitcoins together gives you 3% off everything.

Another option would be to USE the currency. There is no need to exchange directly for fiat, instead look for an option to exchange the coins for goods/services.
Here's a small site with a few business's that accept Bitcoin. If a certain place doesn't accept Litecoin directly, the liquidity of the market you can exchange Litecoin for Bitcoin almost instantly.
http://www.coinmap.org/ (Site is still gaining attention, many merchants that accept Crypto-Currencies have not added themselves)

I'm in about the same boat, the mining rig i'm building will probably just run till something dies, then I'll replace it and it'll run some more. Now if only newegg would ship the parts and get the other parts I need back in stock

Hopefully, and by that time who knows, I might be running a respectable mining farm out of my parents guest bedroom

manofcolombia reacted to RuecanOnRails in My Prospect Litecoin Mining Rig
That's the beauty of coin mining. It's self regulated difficulty adjustments make it so mining always remains at least somewhat profitable. If mining becomes unprofitable a lot of miners leave, the difficulty then adjusts downward making it profitable again If none of the miners leave and the difficulty remains high. The miners then become reluctant to sell their coins at a loss and hold, which decreases liquidity supply, but leaves demand at the same. The price then increases to compensate.
There's always next generation hardware just on the horizon to help increase efficiency as well.
-
manofcolombia reacted to RuecanOnRails in My Prospect Litecoin Mining Rig
Keep in mind, that the price has stayed roughly the same while the difficulty has increased 30% in the past 6 days. Mining profitability will continue to decline unless price per coin increases to maintain a steady ratio. Any calculator you use to check profits are only valid for a max of 3 days, as the difficulty adjusts every 3 days. With recent interest and everyone seeming to be building a miner difficulty will continue to increase and lower daily earnings substantially.
http://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty
I'm not saying mining wont be profitable, but it likely wont stay at this high of raw profit, the difficulty will increase to close the gap. It might be worthwhile to split your investment between mining hardware and purchasing coins directly.
