  1. Im getting bored using OS X and Windows so I was wondering which distro I should go through for linux as a beginner. I see that Mint is a very popular one and have already downloaded it but I plan on going through a few and seeing which ones I like the most. I'll be using VirtualBox for now (tell me if thats stupid or not) and my main goal for now is to just learn about Linux and try to move my daily work to the OS. I'm curious what kind of free video editing software is available and if Microsoft Office can truly be replaced by freeware. Any feedback would be great and if you have any links to pages that could help accelerate my learning would much appreciated!
  2. I'm not a patient person so if it lagged out on me I'd get frustrated real quick lol If you could plug a usb cable into it to make it wired I'd get it but since you experience connectivity issues I'll go with the g502
  3. After looking at almost every mouse I'm stuck between the 502 and the 602. I like to palm the mouse and I have slightly larger than normal hands but not too big. My main concern is the wireless receiver on the G602 as I can't figure out whether its using 2.4 GHz or 5.8 because I'm seeing different answers everywhere I look and Logitech's own website doesn't specify. I have a lot of 2.4Ghz interference in my apartment and it forced me to get a dual band router to make the internet usable. I'm not a serious FPS gamer so I don't need pin point accuracy but I also don't want to get the G602 if it is going to have wireless issues. Does anyone have some experience with either mice? Are they comfortable for palm grip?
  4. It just randomly fixed itself... Thanks to everyone who replied though
  5. It was a clean install when I built it. I can only get 30 mbps internet where I live and i really dont want to have to format and start from scratch. I have ~800gb of stuff on here
  6. So a few days ago my PC wouldn't let me open a video and said it cant be opened using the built in administrator account. I followed the steps in this link : http://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2015/07/windows-10-edge-opened-builtin-administrator-account/ and everything went back to normal. Today, I went to open another video and the same thing happened. I have tried resetting the option to disabled rebooting and then enabling to reboot again but nothing is working. Everywhere I look on the internet this simple solution fixes everyones problem. I'm running Windows 10 Education 64 bit if that makes a difference
  7. How far back should I go? Don't we have to start using Geforce experience soon for game ready drivers?
  8. I have. It happens at stock clocks too
  9. They just run poorly because of the GPU being clocked so low. The only way to fix it is to restart the system and hope it doesn't happen again
  10. I have the EVGA SC GTX 950 and have had a 80 MHz overclock on the core and 300 MHz overclock on the memory since I got it. Recently certain games such as Half Life 2, Minecraft, and recently CS GO are causing it to lock the core at 405 MHz. I understand that the card has a safe mode for when it crashes and it reverts to 405 MHz but nothing is crashing. The driver isn't crashing and the game isn't crashing. It never boosts above 405 MHz and playing a certain game will lock it there until I restart my PC which is really frustrating. Even if i revert to stock clocks it still does this. I haven't been able to find out much by googling around other than that its in safe mode and theres no reason for it to be. I validated my overclock by running fur mark, heaven, and valley for over an hour each. I played BF4 for 5 hours straight the other day and the card didn't even have a hiccup and yet these games that a laptop can run are choking up the card and causing problems. Any help would be appreciated
  11. Yes, I ran furmark, valley, and heaven for about an hour each and so far no games are having any problems
  12. I'm assuming that voids my warranty. I don't want to risk something going wrong and being screwed
  13. In the settings unlock voltage control is already checked but it wont let me change it. I wanted to push the card a little farther since the temps are <70 in furmark. Should I just keep my current overclock?
  14. I have the single fan EVGA SC version of the card and I assumed I'd have the freedom of changing voltage while overclocking but Afterburner has it locked. I can use Precision to change the voltage but overclocking on Precision makes the GPU freak out for whatever reason and will crash with the smallest overclock so it's not really usable. Is the voltage supposed to be locked on the 950? Do I need to change some settings in Afterburner? Any help would great. My current overclock is Core: 1467MHz Memory: 3704MHz
  15. When I unscrewed the screws for the panels they were extremely hard to get out and kept going at really weird angles and getting stuck. After I got them out the front panel came off easily but I can't get the back panel off. I feel like if I use more force Im going to break it. It also looks like it might be on crooked and might be jammed. Any ideas on what I should do?
