Now, I work in professional settings in which I've heard way way worse sexual innuendos and crude jokes and as long as everyone takes it at its face value which that it is a bit of fun and banter, there are no issues. Plus the industry I work in is 89% women which puts me in a small minority.

No malicious meaning is behind anything I've ever heard on a non WAN Show LTT video (I don't usually watch the WAN Show due to the time difference as I live in the UK).

If you do have issues with this then there are plenty of other tech YouTubers who don't include this sort of stuff in their videos.

I do understand that there maybe a culture internally which needs to be resolved and quickly otherwise they will loose my support entirely with reforms to the way that they handle HR issues (By hiring or dedicating someone to that role instead of slapping it on Colton's plate with the other 8 duties he has).

The issue should have been resolved a long time ago in private but now it's been made public LMG needs to take its time when addressing this as you can see what happens when they rush things (e.g. Linus's original post regarding the GN controversy).

Things take time to fix and address properly and proper investigations need to take place to ensure that anyone who is guilty of sexual assault is investigated by the proper legal entities (Which ongoing investigations should NEVER be publicly discussed until a resolution has been found with consent of the victim). With other HR issues being resolved by having someone dedicated to the role. As much as Colton may be a good guy he can't continue juggling 18 different jobs.

Okay, here is my thoughts on this.

I believe that having it paywalled to begin with was a poor choice so was the "micro" ads during this video, I am guessing that they wanted to keep it in the LTT style which always includes sponsor spots and LTTStore.com bits in it however this video is one in which jokes should have been left out however, for the majority of the video I believe this is why Linus is stepping down as CEO, he must have had an idea or two that issues like this was happening at LTT. This doesn't excuse certain things which I will touch upon in a moment but for the editorial issues I can see that Linus had way too much on his plate and that he is very emotionally connected with this company. Linus built this company with allot of help from his family, friends and colleagues so he reacts in a way in which causes more issues akin of someone saying negative things about your child, are you going to get emotional and say things in which you wish you didn't say, of course you are, you are human but as a CEO, you can't do that.

Linus needs to step back and let Terren Tong manage the company and pull it back from the brink of becoming a platform which no one trusts which no one wants to see as we want to have as many companies/channels doing this sort of thing to keep manufacturers honest but to do so LTT needs to be honest too.

Otherwise within this video, the "taking time" to rectify issues will be something that is greatly needed and will hopefully ensure that LTT is here for the next 15 years.

However, Madisons comments regarding her time as an LTT employee has come at a difficult time for LTT and as much as I believe that certain things should be dealt with privately, these things can't be helped for a few reasons. Firstly the community has hounded her for years since her departure so for her to get us off her back she has had to bring these issues to light in which I fully support. Women need to be supported in tech industries and being (I know at this present moment its he said she said) sexually assaulted and belittled at every turn with no support from her line manager or senior management, THIS is THE major issue at LTT at the moment.

Now do I think that LTT should respond publicly regarding Madison, absolutely not on video, this is a private matter that needs to be worked on in the background unless both parties wish to discuss it on camera, this is something that will need to be sorted and quickly but not rushed, LTT needs to fix this sharpish and will need to investigate (not just an internal investigation but have an external party investigate this also) and promptly fire/discipline people who are directly involved with any sexual assaults which happen at LTT.

So I am debating to myself, a long time LTT supporter, who donated to support the new office build donkeys years ago if I can continue to watch LTT, the HR issues need to be resolved in a quick manner and they need to appoint someone to dedicate their time to HR issues and not just keep Colton doing it whilst juggling several other duties.

If LTT can't take care of their own people, they can't take care of the community and the content they push out to us.

I don't know about you lot but this feels like Linus's "Steve Jobs" moment in which his love for the company and his emotional connections to it is clouding his judgement and the way he acts in the heat of the moment.

I'm not accusing Linus of being an arsehole (Like Steve Jobs was in the early days of Apple) but he has done the right things to move the company forward, the reason Apple declined in the Late 80s and 90s was due to Steve Jobs's vision being expelled from the company. By stepping down as CEO and becoming the CVO (Chief Vision Officer) I think that he will avoid LMG's decline whilst being able to focus on what he does best, create content.

As much as he is flawed, Linus is the soul of LMG and without him, it would fail.

Now that tech Jesus has called them out LTT went "oh sh!t" but it's been brewing for a long time.
So first, as my mandatory joke, let me say this : Thanks Steeve!

This is my take a software dev, process analyst with 30 years in growing in medium to large organizations :

TLDR: LMG grew way too fast with novice management and it shows. It's been showing for the last two years.

    Now some thoughts:
    - Even with process review, the team reaching maturity will take time. That means team members senior should be more involved in Q.C.
    - Slowing the pace is a good idea but setting a sustainable pace is a better one.
    - There need to be an attitude adjustment in the team. This includes
       - Knowing when to joke and not to joke (the comments here speak for themselves)
       - Knowing when not to plug sponsors and Ltt store plug (the volume is just plain annoying and completely inappropriate in this video)
       - Awareness this isn't just the latest crisis but an existential crisis.
       - Some culture change in the writing room might be in order.
       - Some humility and some therapy. Linus, especially on WAN show has been arrogant and his ego needs some reigning in.
       - Understanding the road to Hell is paved with good intentions
       - Accepting LMG will take a financial hit while they get the house in order.

Beyond all this, they need to identify the root cause(s). Processes fail for a lot of reason. My primary suspect lack of cohesive management (managing the trees instead of the forest). Not just from Linus but his very young and very green team. The best example I got is his lack of formal training and the way he compensate in it. I don't remember the quote (was on WAN) be he learns what he needs to and leave the rests. The problem is what he leaves and what he doesn't know that he doesn't know. he new will help but there will need to be some serious adjustments and Linus may well push back.

Don't get me wrong, I admire LTT: their passion and dedication to employees is great. But pressing blood from a stone while giving it free snacks is still pressing blood from a stone.

There need to be a new dedication to the product.
The new CEO is a good move but it comes a little late. What I sense is a totally organic organization that needs some serious restructuring and adjustment of its values and needs to slow down.

LTT isn't a startup anymore, so startup mentality needs to go and some outside blood is sorely needed.

Personally I don’t think it is in bad taste at all. If anyone is offended, “So fucking what” as Stephen Fry once said. Honestly, there are far worse things going on in the world than some little fuss over a few mistakes and poor judgement on a YouTube channel.

it would be interesting to have stats, how many mistakes have been made in how many videos. And then put those mistakes into context, whether they have had a detrimental effect on others or whether most people didn’t even notice or care about them.

If only people were this passionate about climate crisis, starving millions, unnecessary wars, homelessness etc, then the world might be a better place
