I was in the process of shipping my computer home from school and decided to take out the gpu because last time UPS broke my computer. (From the East coast of U.S. To the West coast) So i decided to take my GPU on the plane with me. So i had my keyboard, and two mice in my bag with clothes, headphones, etc and my GPU wrapped in a anti static bag. So they scan it throught the conveyor belt and immediately it was like the TSA agents went on red alert. They made me go to a room where they searched my bag and pulled it out. Now the gpu was a nvidia 770 SC with no back plate (i know never again getting without a backplate.) the guy poorly handled the graphics card and bent one of the the exhaust spoke things on the end of the card. But anyway that was def the biggest waste of my time ever they also swiped everything on my and in my bag for gun powder, including the card. I just thought it was kinda funny because i was some 16 year old kid just trying to take my computer part home. Oh and they searched everything on me including my shoes, shirt etc.
Just sharing an interesting story that just happened.

It is definitely possible to build a semi-passive rig that gets good temps under heavy load.
 
I'd say your parts list generally looks good for a semi-passive rig, however in terms of the case, while I really love the R4 I don't think it's ventilated enough for decent passive cooling, as with a passive build you really want to be as close to "open-air" as possible.
 
Also with the CPU Cooler, ideally you want it to have the biggest heatsink possible that you can fit in the case. Check out some of the fully passive coolers like the Nofan CR-95 to get an idea of what a fully passive build would look like. As you don't need the rig to run completely passively under heavy load, you won't need to go quite that big, but basically the bigger the cooler the longer it will stay passive.

Well, that seems to have worked. Folding on 8 cores in a Linux distro using VMPlayer 3.0.0. Using HFM.NET, it is telling me I am now at 31K PPD. :D

Mucking about with an old version of VMPlayer 3.0.0 (has 8 core support) which can apparently run a Linux distro much better then the current v7 SMP only...

#1 - Intel Core2Duo, GTX 660 - GPU folding
#2 - Intel QuadCore, GTX 560 - CPU and GPU folding

Please note that they are retail units (in the video I said pre-production, but this has since been changed) and they are Korean unlocked global units, so you will need to verify if they will work correctly on your carrier! So i was gonna buy a new pc case, but then, i though i could make one. THUS! My build (just a new case) "Cyan" Was started, i spent the first day buying Plexiglas and dissembling my pc from the old case

After that i started to layout the parts on the plexiglas.
 
After i milled out the power-button and card reader slots.

 
Then i drilled and tapped out holes in the main piece and made some small beam-like braces for the optical drive and powersupply.

 
Added the GPU support bracket

 
after a hour of siliconing and assembling things, it was done! (almost)
