Intel all the way! If only you need only render and render and render - then AMD. But Intel will crush AMD in most everyday things and most non-multi thread games out there.
-
It will no be as cheap as Q9400. No way! These cpus still go solid in performance and in price! Xeon is best on price/performance. In cinebench score it manages to get higher score then AMD Athlon 760K, wich is much newer cpu. Bottleneck of course will come at some point, but deal with the fact that this ir old generation of cpus.

Do the 775 to 771 mod and take Xeon - faster clock speed, biger cache, cooler operation and therefore better OC potencial.

Xeon E3-1230 V2 and H67 chipset
Rubenis replied to NecroFlex's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
BS. I have Xeon 1230 V2 in Gigabyte H61N-USB3 motherboard and it did work with no hassle at all, but Xeon also is not on supported CPU lsit. If it supports 3770 then I believe it will suppoer Xeon as well. -
Decent Graphics Card for Video Editing with Adobe Premier CC 2015
Rubenis replied to AceDaz's topic in Graphics Cards
Used GTX 660 and above. Do not buy GTX 650/650 Ti, because at several tests, including my own expierence, GTX 660 is about 40% better for video editing. In some forums people say, that it is because of wider bus @192bits. -
Well since a lot of files are in NAS, then it would take much less time - basically it is Windows install + drivers and then programs. Performance gains is the tempting part of this step. Windows would save me time and the time is money.
-
Well I can not buy Mac, because they are terribly expensive in here. And since this PC is just pure workstation, and all my other needs are covered by tablet, phone and SmartTv, so this WS is my only concern right now.

Well here is my story. I am entusist grade photographer and videographer. I have benn constantly upgrading my gear, including PC. So a about one and a half year ago I had a good system - i7 2600, Z77 MB, 16GB RAM, SSD and HDDs and GTX 650 Ti for GPU acceleration (works on both Windows and Mac) About that time in my country the cryptovirus striked quite hard. Since I did not want to loose all my work I did switch from Windows 8 to OS X - my PC allmost OBB working with everything. OS X I did purchase legally, so please - I know it is against EULA of Apple, but at least I have legal copy of Mavericks. But few days ago I started to think about moving back to Windiows, this time 10th. So I did fairy easy test for my needs - took one spare SSD, that was the same model as boot drive of OS X and put Windows 10 on my machine. I did two tests - exporting RAW to JPG photos and simple 4K video footage export to Full HD in Premiere Pro, to see was OS X faster than Windows or not. Well in Lightroom 6 PC was faster by abouy 15%, but in Premiere pro difference in export times was allmost 20% in favour of Windows. Now I tempted to switch back to Windows, since it gives me better performance in the same woarkloads and specs. What do you think? Should I switch back or still keep working on a PC-Mac??

How to Crossfire a AMD Graphics Card With an APU?
Rubenis replied to iamdarkbowser's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
R9 270X are not able to crossfire with APU. HD7750/R7 250X are max and still you need fideling to it work. -
Whats with all the intel hype?
Rubenis replied to Jeremykin's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Not anymore. There are not so many AMD mobos with latest tech, like M.2 slots for example. And the reason is old technology. -
Whats with all the intel hype?
Rubenis replied to Jeremykin's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Well there are not so many games, that uses more than 4 threads, so that makes i3 cpus with high clock speed and great single core performance makes it better on all type of games than FX 6300. And they are same price. About i5 and FX 8XXX - FX is cheaper, but most of the time to match i5 they need to overclocked, that means more expensive motherboards and that makes i5+mobo combo much more closer to price of FX +mobo. About performance - Intel uses more advanced architecture. And that is about it. -
Check for Xeons and 775 to 771 mod on your motherboard. You will get quad core for about 30-40 dollars and then you can save up/make up by selling GTX 650 for better graphics card.
