Hey everyone my name is Thom,

I've been a member of the forum for some time now and a subscriber of LinusTechTips for a few years. Being 17 years old I'm still in school, in fact in my last year (Yr 12). Along with that I get to do a “Major Work” for my industrial tech Timber class. This “Major Work” can be anything we want, we must design it, then make it. Along with this we need to make an 80 page folio showing everything from steps of construction to drawings and tools used. We have about 8 months to create our project which is then marked by a group of judges who travel the state and mark the projects from each school. In 2014 I came Dux (First Place) in this subject with a mark of 96% I put a lot of effort into my projects and spend a lot of time designing and planning them.  Being my last year I decided to go big or go home, something that is different than a coffee table, a chair, etc. I decided to make this “Project: Ravage” a modded computer table.

You may be wondering why “Project: Ravage”? Well Ravage is to “cause severe and extensive damage to”, e.g my wallet and then benchmarks. I’m 100% sure none of the judges have seen this before so I'm hoping to blow their minds away. The project has changed so many times since last November when I started to plan it, come to think of it, the first design had 780ti’s in it, which has now been replaced by 980ti’s. Table will be fully water cooled with custom tubing.

The top of this table will be made out of Tasmanian Oak with a oil matte finish. To add to this there will be a sheet of glass over the wood top which will be laminated and toughened so it won't shatter or crack. I have always used tables with glass on the top and I like how they don't wear out or get damaged (as easily) like the timber would. This timber is light and will contrast well with the dark stained legs.

The Legs are made out of 70x70 pine with a few pieces of Tasmanian oak accents. These legs will be stained a dark brown/black and then lacquered to a matte finish.

For the box underneath I will be using Meranti. It’s like pine but without the knots. Its got a nice clean grain and looks like a premium timber but without the price tag. This box will be lacquered and kept with the timer look to match the table top and offset from the dark legs.

I never did Multimedia in school because the classes were at same time as timber so I never got taught AutoCAD or any other fancy programs. I taught myself how to use sketchup and with that knowledge I designed this table from scratch over a time span of 2-3 months. Throughout this time the table changed quiet a bit to account for different parts, cooling, aesthetics and the normal R&D stuff but it finally came down to this.

Description: Project: Ravage is a custom designed and built watercooled computer table from scratch. This was my first time watercooling and being only 17 years old it was challenging but the final results are amazing. I made this table at school for my timber major work and its final mark will go towards my final school result.

This morning I received the HSC marks for each subject. In Australia we call the final school test the HSC, this is the final tests before you head into University. I was put on the 2015 Honours Roll for high achievers. I scored 92/100 for Timber. This score was a collaboration of my project you see here and all school tests that I did. I will not know what my score was for this project alone as I don't find out till end of Feb next year (2016). A lot of effort was put in on this project and for a prototype it worked out well.

    Thanks for all the support.

I finally replaced my other desk with Ravage As you can see in the pics this is just my temp setup where my table will sit for a few months until my room gets redesigned. I worked hard on the cable management and it turned out really good. You can still see in the pictures the boxes for this build which I haven't had a chance to move but apart from that it looks good. And yes, I don't have a mouse pad, its a notepad flipped upside down, not gonna lie, used it for 2 years, best thing ever except for the fact its starting to die. Hoping to pickup a Steelseries Heavy, I like thick mousepads. Cables are absent when looking at the table and although I will not be able to change any of the stuff on my table because everything is cable tied together it should be fine. Hope you guys enjoy the pics.

Though I'd show off the headset stand I built from off cuts of this project. It matches the table top using the exact same timber. I'm not a huge fan of stands that clip onto your table or whatever so I made his. Simple design to match the table top as well as easy construction, just 2 screws and some glue. Looks good and can be used for most headsets. Enjoy the pics.

Found these Notti LED lights on ebay really cheap so I picked up the last 2 to add to my current setup. They are RGB LED lighting which connect via bluetooth with your phone, the app is pretty basic and needs some work but selecting a colour and making it rainbow mode work so that's all I need. I tried to sync it to music but its pretty awful. Thought I would throw up some pics to show you guys how it looks

I thought the Ceramic was a limited thing anyway??

Either way, the one plus 2 isn't as good as the 1 was when it came out. The 1 had everything you'd ever want, but the 2? No NFC or OLED Display? Only 1080p too?
I can't look at a screen unless it's OLED now that I have used a Note 4 and moto X so long.

Was building this during my final year of school, got paid $20 a week from selling newspapers. Its money I saved up over the past few years just by doing odd jobs like building friends computers and cleaning windows at a cafe for some extra cash. I now have a full time job while on holidays from school and preparing for Project Ravage V2.
