  1. With all the freshly painted blue accents it was time to reconstruct the case and see how good/bad it turned out.
  2. Five coats of paint later and some drying time, the parts came up really well. The spray paint has stuck well to the plastic and has been resilient to any scratches and fingerprints. My friend is super happy with the overall result and its definitely a one of a kind case. I'm also quiet happy with the results and the case looks amazing, pics in later update.
  3. Here are some pictures of the case before it was painted and the deconstruction. I really like how this case was built and how easy it was to separate each piece. Took about 20mins to get everything sorted and ready to paint. I gave the plastic a light sand with 1000 grit wet and dry sandpaper as well as a wipe down with mentholated spirits.
  4. The red accents on the 270X weren't quite matching the blue motherboard so with a bit of spray paint we achieved this. Doesn't look too bad after all. Original: After spray paint:
  5. This project is just a small build for my friend who is down in Sydney staying with me for a week. This pc was bought off ebay around 2 years ago for $500 and since then we have swapped everything out for cheap parts we have found along the way. The only thing that has survived the overhaul is the i5 cpu which is still performing for his needs. With a bit of time up my sleeves I decided to make it look nice and fancy with some new fans, a new case and a can of spray paint. With a small budget of $200, I had to work with what I could get so between the left over parts at my house and what we could get cheap this is what happened. Lets get right into it. CPU: i5 4570 CPU Cooler: DeepCool Gamer Storm Gabriel Motherboard: Asrock Z97 Pro4 LGA1150 Ram: 2x Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x 4GB) 2x Corsair Dominator (2x 2GB) Graphics Card: ASUS Radeon R9 270X Power Supply: Corsair VS550 Fans: 2x Thermaltake Riing 120mm 2x CoolerMaster Blue Led 120mm Case: Corsair Spec-Alpha Mid Tower (Grey/Black) Hard drives: 1TB Seagate Baracuda Samsung 850 Evo 250gb M.2 Total: Sub $1000 AUD Update 1: 270X Colour Change Update 2: Case Deconstruction Update 3: Painting Finished Update 4: Case Reconstruction Update 5: Case Interior
  6. This sounds really interesting. Can you have it done in a few days before I clean install win 10 <3
  7. OnePlus 3 is really new and I dare say they have heaps of orders. I ordered a skin for my opo and it took a few days. I wouldn't be too stressed.
  8. Your stock fan is nothing compared to my 11 noctua 3000rpm fans running on startup, thats a true jet.
  9. Get a glass window not acrylic. Acrylic will scratch way too easily and will look awful after a few weeks. When getting glass talk to the people at the shop because you may need it to be laminated or you may need safety glass. The bigger the area of glass the thicker it will have to be.
  10. Yeah should work fine No issues. Sometimes the kits of 4 sticks are just cheaper thats all.
  11. You shouldn't have any bottleneck issues. A 960 will be decent for 1080p gaming you should be able to play most things at high - ultra. Personally stick in a 240-250gb ssd instead, it will come in handy.
  12. 100 is just the default blck, keep it there. Watch a few videos on how to overclock. It takes a long time to do and do it properly without frying ur pc. As for a side note, dont go past 1.35 cpu core voltage. A reasonable overclock is 40x multiplier (4.0ghz) If you pushed it a bit you could get it to 4.5-4.7 ghz. Dont go crazy and try for 5.0ghz not gonna happen. You also need to learn how to test if its stable. Use aida64 for stress testing. Use the Ai suite and click 5 step optimization, it will overclock everything for you, its not bad at all.
  13. I had the same issue. Look at the reddit link for the windows 7 drivers here: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3rvoop/samsung_950_pro_nvme_ssd_windows_7_64/ Run the install as normal and then select the driver when the hard drive section comes up.
  14. Not 100% sure but it will probably void your warranty. It should work imo.
  15. Linus can blaze trails with me if he wants
  16. I think this is for pascal only though. So basically the 10xx series.
  17. I found this on the OC3D channel. He hasn't tested the Hb bridge yet as he hasn't got one but he said there shouldn't be much difference unless your going higher than 4k. We have to wait and see when they come out. From the pic you can kinda assume its not gonna be a huge difference in performance imo.
  18. Whats the deal about that, I didnt hear what happened.
  19. $1000 wont get you far, looks like you have scored pretty well with that link. Check out PC Case Gear and Mwave, maybe even JW. Your looking more in the price range of 1500 for something decent.
  20. Depends on what you use it for. 970 has a large advantage over the 960 but if your just web browsing and not doing anything fancy like gaming a 960 will be fine. Also the GS40 is more expensive because its a gaming laptop and it would be better quality over the HP Omen. The 400$ wouldn't just be for the graphics card only, it probably has other differences aswell.
  21. Cablemod has recently opened up their configurator. You can choose custom lengths, colours and everything. https://store.cablemod.com/configurator/
  22. Just as I bought a whole heap of cables, god damm!
  23. Nope Omg, best comment ever. Pretty sure this is a new record for number of likes in a time period. As for the build, yes its kinda dead. I have a week left of uni and plan to get onto this build in the holidays. Going to have to get some metal parts fabricated due to not having access to a workshop anymore to do it myself. There is big ideas for this but I just haven't had the time. The case is sitting next to my table gathering dust, poor 970's. I'm not leaving it just yet but watercooling this thing is gonna cost $$ which I dont have atm. Thanks for your concern guys
  24. Other reviewers said the camera was pretty standard and not the best, maybe linus was a bit too nice? And personally I wouldn't use this phone without a dbrand skin, looks too much like an iphone/htc.
