  1. Laptop was in for repare because it would shut off the moment it was picked up.

Somehow it was a faulty keyboard causing it, so they've replaced the entire top and it feels like a whole new laptop lmao

Thank you 3 year waranty. :D

Cost (roughly £90 less). That and I'm not really bothered if I'm not 100% up to date with everything.
  4. I went Intel in the end because of the USB C issue I noticed. A little more expensive, but that's okay. 2070 Super FE is on the way too. Pretty hyped.

Ah. Pretty big hit though, going from 6c12t down to 6c6t.

  5. I notice an issue with my upcoming build.

The NZXT H1 has a USB C connector on the front IO but the AM4 itx motherboards don't have a header for it. I sincerely hope it works (at USB 3) speeds without plugging in the header. If not, then I guess I'll see what the next boards bring, if they're coming out this year lol

If the new motherboards still don't, I guess I'll go Intel or just deal without for a while

This angered so many of my mates. Not even sorry.

It's now sat on my window ledge to dry out for the next few days

Honestly, keyboards deal with water better than most people would expect.

I'm building a whole new rig to get a desktop again. I can only assume that the card going out of stock is either new cards being around the corner, or the pandemic finally having some kind of impact as other components are currently out of stock too.
  9. I could get behind that if I didn't think the layout looked atroticous. I like a full sized as it has everything that I'd need for what I like to do. That layout is very similar to my laptop layout and I can't get down with it compared to my full sized Filco, especially how the 0 key on the numpad is a single key rather than double in length. The biggest issue I have with custom keyboards, and this is entirely subjective, is the insane obsession with small form factors and "efficiency". Especially the latter, you lose barely any time moving a hand over to the numpad rather than learning how to access a second layer to achieve something that wouldn't be an issue otherwise. I find layers fixing an issue that wasn't needed to be fixed to begin with, akin to removing a headphone jack and deciding that bluetooth is the solution. What you suggested before, being a separate numpad is something I'm interested into looking into, especially as it can be pushed out of the way when not in use to save space.

Probably better off anyway, especially if you already have a rig.

  11. Shame. I'm all down with investing into a custom board, but I like full size. Sounds like we're getting into deminising returns for efficiency if I'm honest.
  12. Cheers, definitely seems to be preference then. I'm not too bothered about the ergonomics and really enjoy having my numpad, so I don't think I could go without. Definitely going to keep looking into custom keyboards, but for now I'll be sticking with my trust, dusty Filco.
  13. Question. I'm getting into the rabbit hole of custom keyboards, after all, they can look so damn nice compared to the store bought alternatives. However, why aren't full sized more common? Are custom keyboard enthusiasts the hipsters of the PC world and care more about asthetics than function?
  14. New chest of drawers arrived. Frees up so much space while giving more storage.
