  1. First off my budget is £800 but if something is good above I can perhaps make £1000 but no more over this. I am going to be using this for Sixth Form/University/College. I will mostly be doing a word processing, internet browsing etc. i.e. general student-y stuff, but I will also be using Wolfram Mathematica so I do need some processing power. I am looking for: 1080p+ screen 14-15.6 inches no bigger as it needs to be pretty portable i5+ processor preferably latest gen 8GB+ RAM, I have way to many tabs open, like Linus Good battery life 250GB+ storage, preferably an SSD. must be very thin with good build quality - preferably made of metal but not super important I would rather not having discrete graphics unless the GPU can somehow be disconnected to conserve battery If you have any suggestions to amend the above list to make it more suitable for my uses (I am not sure what I really need), it would be helpful.
  2. So I have had the repair for about a week now and it is working fine, no more BSODs or programmes crashing thanks very much for the help. I will mark the topic solved in the hope it is fixed forever!
  3. I have 64 bit version, thanks in advance for the link.
  4. I don't believe I can do this as my windows 7 is not a retail copy and I got it from a manufacturer. The ISOs have all been removed and moved to a microsoft site which I cannot download them from because I have to input my serial number and it says that I must contact the original manufacturer of my PC to get support. I will do this but I do not know how long it will take for a reply.
  5. Something else I have noticed today is that certain programmes crash and can't be forced shut down using taskmanger 'end process'. The only two programmes that have done this are Raidcall and Chrome. To get these programmes to close I must restart my computer. Not sure what is causing this.
  6. I was playing a game at the time (Warframe) so that could explain the DirectX part of the BSOD. I have no overclocks on anything, but I did have at one point on CPU (about 6 months ago, maybe more). So I have no idea what is going on. What do you recommend I do now, other than read through that 17.6 MB monster PDF of pure text?
  7. I got a new BSOD today. I think it is different from last time. Specs are exactly the same as last time I was pretty much doing the same as I was last time, except firefox was not open as I was on RaidCall. 8. My Bitdefender is up to date now. I am currently not using Bitdefender as a firewall I am using Zonealarm. Bitdefender is my active antivirus, and I also sometimes use Adaware for scans. I know for definite that Bitdefenders firewall has nothing to do with this as the version of Bitdefender I have does not include a firewall. According to the activity log on Bitdefender nothing was actually happening at the time, the closest activity to it was 6 minutes afterwards so I have no idea what has happened, though vsserv.exe definitely is a Bitdefender process. Thanks for the helpful reply.
  9. I got my first bluescreen just now, no idea how/why. Computer is about 3 years old. What happened during the crash was I was listening to music via google play music streaming, had chrome and firefox open and some other things and I was playing Warframe on steam. All drivers are up to date except the graphics drivers, windows is up to date. Specs: CPU: i5 3570k Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengance @ 1600MHz GPU: EVGA GTX 760 SuperClocked ACX cooling Case: Zalman Z11 Plus Storage: 1TB HDD + 250GB Samsung 840 EVO PSU: 500W Xigmatek Display: Samsung 22" Cooling: Xigmatek CPU cooler Keyboard: dasKeyboard Pro Mouse: ROCCAT Kone XTD Bluescreen viewer info: https://mega.co.nz/#!gQFAmKqJ!5iBO3FSsK38bxz_aWiJrG7NwgUYaQQpLX7RJQSy_u1k Dump file: https://mega.co.nz/#!wIVFwTqD!FQmShTmcMcfqYMDNH8o_a2wYDCU8A8x3G25_kvODJ18 dxdiag.exe info, very long Thanks for any help you can provide. EDIT: I have no overclocks on anything, I used to though.
  10. I don't think I will get CIEMs just due to that I won't be able to sell them on as easily and they may be too noise isolating. The Shure SE425 look pretty good though apparently there is a lack in bass compared to similarily priced earphones, not much of an issue though. Discounting the Sony XBAs due to non-removeable cables. The Fostex TE-05 are looking like the pair I am most likely to get unless something else impresses me significantly.
  11. After doing some more research I have decided I will not go for Sennheiser, as although I have heard nothing but praise for them on the sound side of things, they are apparently overpriced. Not sure if it is true but it is the general consensus with a lot of reviews These look pretty good, I liked your review as well; very helpful, thanks. The art music one looks pretty good, and seem to be well recieved by reviewers, certainly taking them into consideration.
  12. Gives me this message sadly: "Pre-order Only - Stock available TBA"
  13. That's good as these are 2 IEMs that I have been looking an seem to be well recommended across the internet Sadly I do not believe they are available in the UK, cannot find them anywhere without resorting to Ebay plus I have had bad experience with ATH earphones in the past (won't stop me from buying another set again though).
  14. I am looking for a new set of earphones as my current ones have broken. My budget is about £100 but could potentially go up to £250 but I would not like to spend this much. I will use the IEM for commuting so as little noise leakage as possible would be great. I have no real preference to how noise isolating they are, however I would prefer a lack of active noise canceling features. No sports style IEMs I personally find them uncomfortable. I would only like IEM recommendations, no headphones please.
