  1. 2nd year computer engineering student here. I have a PC and get along fine, however if I had to do it again I would get a Mac, especially if the new ones are any good. A couple of the classes at my university require a Unix environment. For a PC user this involves dual booting or installing a buggy VM image from the professor. The mac students can do everything right from the command line. It is also incredibly easy for them to install a VM with windows on it, basically removing the downside. If you want a PC over a mac because of different hardware specs or price then that's a no brainer. But if you're really stuck I'd take a good look at the possible courses you might take and see if they require unix, if so you would be very happy with a mac.
  2. Yes this is the original thread from a while ago. Just added an iOS version.
  3. Raising this thread from the dead, but I updated the back-end so it is now much faster. Also did some minor UI improvements. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tassa It is now also available on the Apple App Store! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tassa/id1137767447?ls=1&mt=8 Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for the input! I agree the design needs work, the app does actually follow most of the material design guidelines, and it would be hard (and kinda pointless) to implement a card based UI. Do you have any specifics on the UI besides that? I agree it needs changing, I just can't pinpoint how.
  5. Thanks! A feature like that is in the works, along with four and five locations, but first I'm trying to focus on an iOS version and small bug fixes.
  6. App is out of beta, with the ability to open the results in a navigation app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tassa
  7. Honestly no, but this is more exact, and I believe simpler to use.
  8. Google maps has it for one location, but it's not able to intelligently find places in-between multiple addresses.
  9. Google takes a while to activate it once you sign up for testing. Maybe an hour or so.
  10. I've been working on an app for a while and I've finally got it into the beta stage. I would love it if you guys could provide some criticisms and suggestions for me to implement in future releases. Here's a copy of the description from the play store: Looking for a place to meet between you and friends? TASSA has you covered. TASSA will locate restaurants, theaters, parks and more between you and up to two additional friends. Simply enter your locations and select your desired category and TASSA will provide you with options. Here's the link to sign up for the open Beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.tassa Thanks for any feedback you guys can provide! P.S. It's US only for the time being due to api limitations, sorry
  11. I was able to activate over the phone after I uninstalled all the updates that installed when I was away. I'll be doing a clean install once windows 10 comes around anyway, so I just needed it activated for that upgrade. Thanks!
  12. I considered that too, but malwarebytes turned up nothing, and the computer was working fine when I left, and not used at all while I was gone, so I don't see how it could have been infected. I also am slightly worried about doing a full reinstall, because then I may not even be able to complete the install if the key doesn't work.
  13. I installed windows 8.1 pro with media center almost two years ago, with a valid product key, and it has been working fine ever since. I came home from vacation yesterday to see my computer shutdown. It took quite a bit of work getting to boot again, had to reset the BIOS and mess around with some other stuff. When I finally booted I get a message that windows is not activated. I tried putting in the product key but I get the error: "The activation server has reported that the product key has reached it's activation limit". The phone activation also fails. Any ideas?
