  1. Yes it does matter. Some laptops like macbooks pull air in from the sides and vent it out towards the screen hinge. So there is a small gap to allow airflow over components so a thermal pad may disrupt this airflow and cause certain components to get too hot.
  2. ^^^^^^ I agree. GN isn't afraid to find and say the truth. It's a backbone reports desperately need again and I am happy to see some still do. LTT should really be taking notes if they plan to be a credible source with their lab
  3. That's simply horseshit. The justification people assume is Apple takes your data but it's enclosed in their ecosystem and there's less of it as you pay more. So it's not ideal but some see this as better than others which I partially agree with
  4. I'm actually trying to get 1gig to a device near it that is not negotiating with the routers internal switch. Opposed to running new cables and getting new SFPs I would rather try to make this work first
  5. Hello, I was wondering if there is a way I can enable one of the ethernet ports to act as a passthrough from the other ethernet connection like a switch? Thanks

INB4 LTT members say crypto is fake again.

  7. Maybe if you melted the aluminum and fused the IHS to the cooler otherwise like others have said it's not going to work well
  8. Crazy concept but GPUs can be used for things outside of gaming and mining. Also there are still many algorithms that support GPU mining, while not as lucrative, with some decent prep work you can still make money.

There's Apple Music on Android, and its good. S…

Apple stopped developing it and swapped to the music app.
  10. Yeah I don't know about this video. Other users have highlighted great points and the title is incredibly misleading if not just a lie. Putting asterisks on a word doesn't just mean you can mislead people. The larger LTT gets the worse they look using clickbait and having misleading videos

Hahaha yeah I got a lot of cringe from the replies. Seriously though I recommend learning more about them
  12. Seeing 3rd world countries swap to crypto because their central banks failed is fascinating. Bitcoin is truly a global currency and it's been interesting hearing older people change how they view it. In 2011 it was a fake ponzi lotto scam now it's simply the new way of banking. They might still be reserved and not cashout their 401k and put it all in Bitcoin but they are significantly more accepting than in the past. I cringe so hard when people on the LTT forum still think crypto is a made up scam. Ooooof

The only reason people even care about crypto is so they can sell it for cash.

  13. Hahaha wtf yeah that icon is terrible.
  14. I starting using fing awhile ago when I was trying to find IPs of IoT devices on my network. Worked very well and later updates started reading device info which was super helpful. So instead of listing IPs it had the IP with a description like AppleTV, VizioSmartPlayer, or generic if it couldn't tell. I've personally never used the paid options and don't plan to as what I am looking for doesn't require anything of that nature. But yes they are a decent app I would recommend to people
  15. The M1 wasn't the first by far either. My profile pic is the die shot of an MI250. Which is truly 2 GPUs slapped into one die
  16. Daaaaamn I totally forgot about Scrapyard Wars. That was some peak content
  17. Good, it's called a standard for a reason. Imagine if every car manufacturer used their own unit of speed for each car lineup. Also I think people forget the lightning cable is just a USB C cable but in reverse to make it proprietary and it's god damn USB 2.0

lmao yeah it has nothing to do with the audio output
  19. I mean hardline typically has less maintenance as the tubing doesn't break down over time like soft tubing does.

Isn't that just an option within Apple music regardless of the device playing it?
  21. Bro where are you living. It sounds like a mental institution. I would use my phone with the flash on and camera irises should glow like an animals at night when you look through your phone. Then just stand near the camera and talk ambiguously about the lady
  22. It's the Nvidia geforce drivers. This started a couple months after the GTX980ti came out and the Nvidia forum was filled with people reporting the issue. I've found using Quadros like the RTX8000 won't display the same issues. So there is something inside the geforce game drivers that is causing the issue or some hardware difference in quadros makes it non apparent. ECC turned on and off has no affect
  23. What should I do if I know a local business has credit card skimmers?

      Notify the Police.

Absolutely report it to the local police. It's the only choice.

Police seems like the obvious choice here. I'd also report it to the company that supplies their POS, if it looks like it's provided by a banking institution.

  24. I'd say it's not getting crazier but more zoomed in like a madelbrot. We are extending more into non physical concepts, rules, entertainment, and so on.
