After searching for years to find the perfect laptop I have found it. Is it my macbook pro? No. Is it my matebook pro? No. It's both of them. I've been searching for a laptop that doesn't exist for years and never will. Using both laptops fills in all the gaps the other might have. It's a balance

    Ever tried an XPS?

I have tried an XPS and it falls short in a few areas. I don't like windows, it's trackpad is subpar, it isn't unibody, drive options, and it's thermal issues. Honestly my Matebook X Pro is the closest laptop I have gotten to being perfect except, it runs windows, it's trackpad, and audio port has an audible hum/hiss. That's the portion my macbook fills in. It's keyboard and trackpad are god damn miracles to use in comparison to every other laptop on the market. It's screen falls short in comparison to the matebook x pro though. That thing has an 800 nit 99% AdobeRGB 3K touchscreen panel with paper thin bezels and boy do you notice.

I understand the Windows, thing, but Linux is still an option. As for the trackpad, I disagree. Older models (like my 9570) pale in comparison to the likes of Apple who are the gold standard in terms of trackpads in my book. I'm not sure what you mean by unibody, my unit is made of two pieces of aluminum and the screen, where the only build complaint I have about it is the hinge isn't one-finger. You're right about drive options, from the factory, selection isn't great, but both the RAM and storage are slotted which is practically unheard of on premium machines like it. For thermals, the 8750H in my unit hangs around 50C during normal use, but can peak into the 90s in heavier loads. But name a powerful laptop that doesn't do that. I just love the power, build quality, and keyboard of the XPS line, especially when you consider its price vs other rivals.

If you disregard my biases, I think the new XPS line represents some very compelling options in the premium laptop space if a macbook isn't your jam.

Yeah I'm not saying the XPS isn't a good laptop, it's a pretty great one in fact. It's just didn't satisfy what I was looking for and is a bit pricey.
