The pinch functionality on the new airpods is a deal breaker for me. I loved that the orginals just used a mic listening for the tap. That when if they were covered by a hat or ear muffs you could just tap the thing itself.

    The whole point of the pinch is to enable the external mics to pass through audio from outside. You wouldn't want to enable that with just a tap, because then how would you control anything else?

     

    AirPods Pro are not a replacement for regular AirPods. Their feature sets are not really overlapping.

    Yes but they removed tapping all together. You have to squeeze for the play/pause/next track functionality. So good luck with gloves on

    As I said, they were intentionally designed to not have all the same features. Granted that intent is dumb, but that's they way it is.

    Pros squeeze, non pros tap, it's that simple. /s

     

    Either they meant for it to act different or they misjudged what the costumers want.
