What's a good goal for starting bank account balance going into college? I know it can range but a safe amount for fees, food, and transportation.

    $3000 is about enough for a year if you are smart.

    Enough to pay for what you will spend before you will earn more lol

    I mean really, that is kinda the best answer.  How much that is depends on you.

    Enough to cover any loans that you might get to boost your credit score. I had to save 8K/yr over my pre-grad to pay off most of my vet schooling as quickly as possible.

    This is spending money or rainy day fund?

    I'm going (probably) abroad for school next year, fully fed and sheltered and all, and i have at least 1500 of my own money saved for it. Probably not gonna spend very much at all.

    I have a debit card that I have never used. This is spending plus rainy day.
