  1. Hello, I just got this https://sabrent.com/products/ds-sd6p

sabrent USB C dock for my steamdeck. I’m trying to play games at 1080p on my 4K TV but it’s not working. If I set the resolution in windows to something other than native when I launch a game it disconnects and won’t output any video. If I change the resolution in game and keep windows native 4K it again just goes black and won’t output.

I believe the issue might be from HDCP and the sabrent is not allowing output of 4K content in 1080p or some copyright protection going on. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

I’m using high quality HDMI 2.0 cables in the TVs preferred port but still nothing. Thanks

When Linus posted that incompetent response in response to the GN accusations, we didn't blindly line up to defend him. I wonder why he would think that the entire LTT forum is full of Linus-worshipping middle schoolers.

Probably because that's what his Youtube analytics are.

If I may ask, why do you order LTT's merch so copiously? From one of your earlier posts, it seems like you have ordered an excessive amount of merch.  Unless you're giving it away, there doesn't seem to be a functional reason for you to have so much. Are you hoping that LTT will notice you and your excessive spending? Why order every Friday instead of pooling orders and buying once every month or two? How long have you been doing this?

Given the amount of money you have spent this year alone, you could've bought a very nice GPU or even a whole rig. No one's preventing you from spending your money however you please, but I'm genuinely curious as to what you think about all this.

    They are seeking validation

  4. Hello, I was wondering if there are any AI tools out yet that will take a text prompt and generate a video from it. Like stable diffusion but for video. As everything I have found so far does not do this. It's either a template, pre rendered, or is a glorified video editor. Thanks!

Love to see it, I'm so glad that transferring SIMs is getting easier and easier.

Yeah esims have changed the game. You just scan a QR code now and you can add an esim. But pretty soon esims will be obsolete as well with web3 wallet sims coming soon!

If your carrier doesn't have an app to do SIM/eSIM fuckery with you are unfortunately probably stuck either calling them or going to a physical location.

Yeah I ended up finding the sim swap portal on the carriers website. Super simple, just put in the IMEI and away you go!

  7. Hello, I just got an iPhone 15 Pro and when I try to set up the cellular on it from an existing iPhone 8 it says it needs to update the IOS version on the iPhone 8 for it to work. But there is no update for the iPhone 8. It's on 16 but needs to be on IOS 17 but apple doesn't support it. So do I have to call the carrier and swap it manually?

And how are you going to do NAT?

How are you going to firewall?

The fiber SFPs most ISPs use are GPON based, not standard SFPs you can pick up and they have to be tuned/set to the right frequency. Plus you'll have to get the ISP to allow you to use that SFP and authenticate you onto their network without the ONT.

Thanks for the reply. This is what I sorta figured it just seemed much simpler in my head than a cable network. I'll give the ISP a call and get an ONT

You need to contact the fiber ISP and sign up for service.

I have already done so and I was waiting for them to bury it. I want to avoid the installation charge if there isn't anything special

Probably a better question for your ISP than us, no?

ONT is basically a fiber modem: https://us.hitrontech.com/learn/what-is-an-ont/. SFP is a network interface standard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Form-factor_Pluggable

So is ONT not an adapter for fiber to ethernet? I was going to use an SFP that uses fiber to populate a switch

  10. Hello, I recently got fiber in my neighborhood and want to switch to it but currently have a cable modem. After some research it appears I need an ONT instead of a modem but I'm not sure if there is anything proprietary about it. As from the looks of it could I just use a fiber SFP and then populate a 48 port switch to get internet? Is the SFP considered an ONT or is there some customer checking or security happening on a purpose built ONT or ONT/router combo? Thanks!

Remember, the future is "Password-less" (combined with biometrics no doubt too).

AI blurred that line between fake and what is real. Never assume anyone remote is whom they claim to be without proof. Voiceprints and written signatures don't count.

This goes for law enforcement too. They assume all data they collect has intent or was even made by a human

It's already been mentioned in this thread but metadata can be changed. It should not be used to prove or disprove something. Besides, the competition seems to allow modified images, so even if the metadata said "made in Photoshop" they would probably still allow it.

Chances are this image wasn't just spat out perfect out of the AI program either, so the last step for "regular" photos and this AI generated image would probably be the same, and thus they would have very similar if not identical metadata.

You could verify the GPS cords from the metadata of the raw image. If the photographer doesn't have the original image it's highly suspect anyways

Look, I get it. But, 98% of the channel content is not Mac or phone related. They don't really do anything beyond a brief unboxing and first look at most phones, and that's usually on ShortCircuit, not LTT.

I get that you want phone reviews, and Mac reviews, but LTT just isn't the place for it.

I would love to see mechanical keyboards reviewed, but there are other, better places for that content. Same with cameras, DSLR, and action cameras.

Then why in the hell do people watch LTT? The channel used to be product showcasing, unboxings, and reviews.
