An update for you guys. I was able to do the intallation process of Windows on an other drive that I formated to MBR.

I went as far as the desktop. But along the way, I had to unplug the displays and replug it because I was loosing picture. After that, as soon as I installed the Nvidia driver, everything went black and I could not boot the computer again. Even the BIOS was not showing, the lights on the motherboard seemed to be stuck.

I power it down and plug the 2070s and it boot just fine into the new Windows installation.

I guess at this point this mean this GPU is just dead if it is blocking the BIOS to boot.

    Thanks again for your help.

I'd do that. Working with older hardware can be tricky, so trying an MBR Windows install might work.

I am not affiliated but have unRAID as my OS but if you read/ask/join a network/server forum and ask around you will get a better picture of how these retired servers are working, everything I've read has been more on the positive side than not and they seem to hold up and again are on the cheap they come again in various configurations of included hardware so It's almost like A la carte

You could build your own server if you can find a motherboard for a decent price. I'm not sure how Plex runs on FreeNas, but on my server I have a six core Sandybridge Xeon clocked at 2GHz (2.6 with some tricky turbo overclocking witchcraft) and it runs Plex like a dream. You typically need more CPU power for Plex if you have on the fly trans-coding (for lowering video quality to outside internet for speed and bandwidth reasons like me) and if you have a lot, and I mean a LOT of people using Plex at the same time.

If you don't want to dabble with ebay you can possibly try Aliexpress, though I've never bought from them.

I see this thread is still going. Read the first few pages.

    The word scummy was ill-chosen.

But the simple fact ramains that if everyone blocked the ads in my content Linus Tech Tips wouldn't exist. Period.

Those suggesting that I complain to Google... Do you think I can just call up Eric Schmidt and let him know I don't like the way they implement ads on YouTube? I laughed out loud.

YouTube isn't perfect but it's my best shot at running a viable business here so I can pay my employees and feed my family, so that's what I use. Those of you who opt to consume the content without supporting it, fine you're not "scummy". Come up with your own word for it

As for keyboard, the k60/k70 (corsair) looks really nice, but IMO pretty much any mechanical keyboard with a decent design and a backlight should be fine, unless you have a particular preference for switch type. Headsets are funny too, as head size and how much sound quality matters make a big difference.

I would probably go with a k70 and either a corsair 1500v2 headset, or your favorite pair of headphones (if you have some nice ones) and a modmic.

I know it's about $150 over, but something like this would be more along the lines of what I would choose.

Your choices are a bit misguided to me like your choice for CPU cooler. There are better cases than what you chose and well let me just put my choices for you to peruse.

    CASE 1 $199.99 CASE 2 $129.99

CPU $393.96 Don't pre-order it wait until it comes out and then it will be less.

GPU 1 $659.99   GPU 2 $619.99 This is your original GPU choice $529.99

    MOBO 1 $199.99  MOBO 2 $239.99

For the water cooling i would recommend you visit/contact Dazmode which is in Canada for a great kit.

All your other choices could be changed too but if those are the ones you like then leave it alone.

Cpu is the 4790k when it will be available in couple weeks for ~$30 more.I chose the glacer 240L because it is one of the best coolers out there and also it is expandable which means custom loop very easily.
Gpu,i decided the 780 because the 780ti is very expensive for a little bit more performance and i put a 850w psu for SLI ready whenever you feel like it.
Also,i took the initiative to add a 1440p monitor because it's just awesome. And it is IPS. You will not regret it. Tell me what you think. (:

Please use http://ca.pcpartpicker.com to organize your parts. It will make it easier for people to find what you are looking at, and show you lower prices than Newegg if such prices exist.

If you're just gaming, a 4690k (soon) will do nicely, unless you need to build it now, in that case, go with a 4670k.

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-06-08 19:26 EDT-0400)   I chose a more higher end PSU, because I hate having to 6+2 PCI-e power connectors on the same cord with higher end cards. Just making sure your 780 Ti has sufficient power. Unforunately, I couldn't manage to squeeze 1440p into your budget, so I compromised with 1ms 144hz instead. I also fit in a mechanical keyboard. I left the case and headset choice up to you, because those are totally personal. I also added a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO for your OS and maybe some games.   EDIT: The above post has a lower end video card, but some 1440p IPS eyecandy, would choose the above one, but keep mine in mind

You should wait for the 4790K, it will overclock a lot more.
A samsung 840 evo is more reliable than that SSD you chose.
And if you can make the stretch, a H105 or H110 would perform a lot better
And there are cheaper PSUs than that, so you could shave off some cost there too. A 750W would be more than enough for this system.

Yes it will. They all are made to run on DDR3. However once a DDR4 memory controller is used on the motherboard that is when the older RAM will no longer be compatible.
