1440P is a 16:9 aspect ratio, 1600P is a 16:10, 16:10 is a more "professional" ratio, used for editing and such. 970 SLI should be good for another 2-3 years with how games are going at this rate.

970 sli can do 1080, 1440, and 1600 ultra at 60 FPS on most all games, 4K it can play most games at ultra but it might dip below 60FPS depending on the game,

$90-$120 USD as it's a older card that is not very power efficient and also doesn't support mantle I think

DId, turned out that CSGO in one of the newer updates changed around the config.cfg file and the volume mixer settings where changed from 1=100% to .05=5%.

So windows 8.1 and 7 both have been lowering my mic volume in widows to 5% but only when a launch Counter Strike GO. I have no idea why this is, it's not source games because CS Source and Insurgency don't do it only counter strike GO. Mic settings http://puu.sh/exh9F/a84e65ca28.png This is what it's defaulting to http://puu.sh/exhbZ/e0b6a04846.png http://puu.sh/exhhR/940f1b8b3e.png I'm using a Zalman ZM Mic 1 and the realtek driver version is realtek 1.0.64.10, the newest I can get with my old motherboard.

At this point, is an r9 290x for $360 worth it?
91wow replied to TallOne123's topic in Graphics Cards
Seeing as how newegg is having sales on 280x's that use the same cooler and PCB as reference 7970's, i'd recommend a second 7970 or 280x. newegg also has this for the same price right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202133 -

great build, add in a hyper 212 evo if you can and be set. The stock intel ones are really loud. -

well if you're doing that kind of stuff then a lot will be offloaded onto your GPU for rendering and such. I think vegas 11 has cuda acceleration. -

This seems a bit more reasonable but you won't see much of any performance increase in games with a I7 over a I5, hell some games might perform worse, because I think the I5 has better single core performance over a I7 (I THINK) -

I have a green motherboard, black and red GPU cooler, noctua fans, white RAM, and a hyper 212+ all inside a modded HP case -

CSGO won't use more than 1 GPU, most games also won't really leverage more than 4 cores. If you want a lot of twitch streams going at once use VLC, it has next to no performance hit in games. I have a VERY old core 2 quad and watch 720 60FPS streams all the time while playing CSGO. You'd be a bit better off going with a I5 now and then a better i5/i7 when intel launches their next mainstream platform. unless you're streaming or doing content creation I recommend a I5 over a I7. -
Overclock it and you'll be fine.

Moving over to Intel [Need Advice]
91wow replied to adman29's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Are you just gaming? If so go with the 4690K cuz why not? If you plan on streaming, save up for a I7. motherboard wise. You can go with either one, get good overclocking out of both, it's really just upto what one will match your build best really.- 30 replies

Upgrade GPU first then on the next intel launch upgrade CPU if you can.

Go into control panel and uninstall nvidia physx driver, graphics driver, geforce experience, and anything else NvIdia. At least thats what I did when I went from a GT 630 to a 7870 last week

WHERE THE HELL DO YOU LIVE?? I feel bad for you my dude. Want to live with me you'll get 65 down and 6 up internet, a dog to cuddle with, and sometimes food.

rog swift if you play FPS games a lot. if not a really nice 1440P IPS or a 3440x1440 will be REALLY nice.
-
you might notice high ping with bad internet, but your resolution has nothing to do with latency 90% of the time

Intel is better core for core than AMD everyday of the week. You can't compare two CPU's due to clock speed really. I mean a I5 at 3.7GHz is faster than a 8350 at 4.4GHz in games. Game leverage less faster cores than more slower cores.

Coolermaster PSU's use good PCB's and components. Same stuff you'll see in a CX500m or EVGA 500w

Caselabs cases are probably some of the best anyone can ever dream to build in, easily modable as well.
