  1. Thanks for the info, yes my system will primarily be used for 3D Design (Maya, Zbrush, UE4) and some Video Editing... not so much gaming. Is it worth thinking about then? Thanks!
  2. Hi, Sorry if this topic is easily found elsewhere... I'm building a new PC with a Titan Xp GPU. I have my original Titan (from 2013) which is still good. I remember reading at one point that a nvidia update would allow adding graphics cards of different types together, but I'm not sure if that's possible. I'm wondering if there's a way I could integrate my old Titan for some added benefit, or if I should just leave it aside? What do you think? Thank you!
  3. Hi, I have watercooling components from my last build (from 2013) and am wondering if I can re-use them for my new one. What I'm unsure about are the watercooling blocks for my CPU and GPU. My question is, will the waterblock I have for my i7 LGA 2011 socket fit my new i9 2066 socket, or do I need to buy a new one? Also, I have a waterblock on my original GTX titan. Is there a chance it'll be compatible with my new Titan Xp, or should a get a new waterblock? I have EK waterblocks. Thanks!!
  4. Indeed, I'm so happy with the Intel & Nvidia option that I'd just like to stick with that.
  5. Hi, I'm building a new system for 3D / game design (Maya, Zbrush, UE4). I want to get a Intel Core i9-7960X Skylake X CPU, and already have a Titan Xp. I am just not sure what Motherboard I should go for. I am thinking about getting this one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132991 But there are other, more expensive options. Still, this one seems to fit the bill for me, and I don't think I'll be overclocking. What do you think of this board, or is there a better option? Thank you!
  6. I decided to go with the Titan Xp. It was difficult to acquire, but I finally have it now! I've been so happy with my original Titan card that I wanted to stick with the name. Thanks to everyone for the input!
  7. Hi, I want to purchase a Titan Xp card, but it seems like it's only available directly from the Nvidia website. They's got a "Notify Me" button which I've applied to. However it's been over a week and I'd really like to get this card. Is there another way to get this card in the Vancouver Canada area? Thanks!
  8. Hi, Thanks for the recommendation. As for PSU, maybe I can keep using my 850Watt supply then! But about the memory, I need to get 4x16GB cards because I'd like to buy more in the future to fill out the 128GB maximum of the MB. And the price difference between the different speeds doesn't seem that big at the level, maybe $100 give or take. I've also got the mass storage taken care of, a 16TB raid, plus two 500 Samsung 850 Pros.
  9. Hi, I'm building a new system and wanted to get some feedback before I make a purchase. The aim is to build a system that will excel at 3D content creation, great for using Maya, Houdini, ZBrush, Substance & UE4. I built my last PC in 2013, so I'm not sure if I fully understand all my options, but am feeling pretty good about this list of components: Intel Core i9-7960X ASUS ROG STRIX X299-E [I was looking at a more expensive MB that is no longer in stock at the moment. This was a quick substitute find that seems to fit the bill. Is it a worthy choice?] Titan Xp CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3466 SAMSUNG 960 PRO M.2 1 [PURCHASED] EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 120-G2-1300-XR 80+ GOLD 1300W Fully Modular Power Supply [Not sure if this is the right choice] I've got a Silverstone TJ11 Case and watercooling components from my current build as well. What do you guys think? Thank you for any help!
  10. Hi, I'm thinking of building a new PC centered on the i9-7980XE. I'm not too concerned with price, so I'm looking at high end components all around. My aim is to create a PC for 3D content creation great for running Maya, Zbrush, Substance, Houdini & UE4. Poly counts can reach into the tens of millions so I want a GPU that can handle absurd amounts of geometry, processing and simulations. I'm trying to compare GPUs but am a bit unclear about the advantages of the higher end cards for my needs. I mainly see comparisons for gaming and deep learning, but not really for 3D content creation. What advantages do the Titan xp or Titan V have over the 1080 for 3D work, if any? Any help would be appreciated!
  11. Thank you for the replies, yes I think I will have to get an adapter then.
  12. Hi, I purchased a Samsung 960 Pro SSD, not really thinking about the type of connector I will need to install it. I have an older MB; the Rampage IV Extreme. I can't find any info if my motherboard is compatible with my new SSD so I fear that it isn't. I guess I'm wondering if I missed something and my MB is actually compatible, or if I need to get an adapter. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
  13. Thanks for the replies! Yes, to clarify, I have the old Titan card, the first one. I wanted to get two at the time, but they were very expensive and in short supply then.. so I always wanted to add the second one later. I found one on ebay for 300-400 and am wondering if it's worth it now. I know getting a newer card would be much better but to be honest what I have is still working very well and I feel like it has a couple of years in it yet. If I were to go with a new card I'd wait a bit and get something nice, like a Titan X or Titan Z. So, do you think adding a second older Titan SLI would be worth it for working in Maya, Substance, Zbrush, UE4? Thanks!
  14. Hi, I built myself a pretty cool PC back in 2013 and am thinking of updating some components. I haven't been keeping up with tech since I built the system so I'm not sure what to really do with it. I want to give it a boost and was hoping to get some opinions/pointers as to what I could do! My primary focus is on 3D modelling and game engine work so graphics are important to me. Anyway, I am running a Rampage IV Extreme MB with an Intel i7-3930K, 64GB RAM (Corsair Vengeance) and a GTX Titan with 2 Samsung 850 Pro SSD drives. I was thinking of replacing the RAM because that is one area I kind of skimped on... I got one of the slower speed versions. I believe the relevant figure is that it is 1866MHz. How much of an impact would higher speed RAM sticks have? I was also thinking of adding another GTX Titan, even though the the card is quite old now! Do you think SLI would be worth it? Any thoughts would be welcome! Thank you!
