Samsung indeed does, I had a 3.5 years old Note 8, cracked screen, worn battery and charging connector, and I traded in for £200 refund from Samsung on my S21 Ultra. You are absolutely right, if the GW5 is indeed incredible I can change it.
So 3 days in, battery is over 1 day, it tracks my heart rate well, and the Samsung health app is great showing the average heart rate, and it stores the data, so I can look back on my day and see if my heartrate is too high
And the app is subscription free, unlike the fitbit app
for the $20 price you cant complain then, and you can save up easily for the GW5/Pixel watch

Thank you, I went with a 46mm Classic, so far it is great, and the app has all the features I want

I agree and understand, but as I said it is for actually tracking my health from now until October, so I wanted to wait the least amount of time, otherwise I would have waited.

It's almost like this exact same thing happened during the 20 series launch, and somehow people didn't expect it to happen again.

    But that would be ridiculous.

Basically a jury of 12 normies has to decide what a CPU core is. AMD went for a different approach than SMT (AMD went CMT) and it resulted in FX. If they insist only intel gets to define what a core is they should take a long walk off a short pier

Normally I would say you are right, no preorders. my first and last preorder was Titanfall 1

If they would ship me a box of shite with a picture of CD project red employees giving me the finger with an extended gameplay video on floppy disks for £200... I would say still worth it

HippY reacted to Suika in NVidia Geforce RTX 2080 confirmed up to 2x GTX 1080 performance. Evidence for 2080 ti as well.
This would be very good news if the RTX 2080 was priced to compete with the GTX 1080, but it's not, it's priced against a GTX 1080 Ti, so I'd reckon we're seeing a 10-20% gain, if we're taking NVIDIA at face value, in normal titles.

NVIDIA is making some very big bets on ray tracing, and I'm not convinced yet, not without a lot more developer support.

HippY reacted to Deus Voltage in RTX 20 Series Cards Confirmed With Pricing
According to AdoredTV, there is a good reason why they wouldn't show it. It'll probably be a GTX rather than an RTX. They're trying to force the market into adopting high priced GPU's. The whole pricing discrepancy thing (between their presentation and their website) raises lots of red flags.

Intel and AMD need to break Nvidia's market dominance asap.

Which is why I havent gotten on the preorder bandwagon. He compared a card with no optimized circuitry for RTX with one with dedicated cores... of course the one with dedicated hardware will be faster. The question is going to be about overall performance beyond having RTX enabled... furthermore, how much of a performance hit would we see with RTX enabled

    Few things:
In the UK, the Nvidia 2080/Ti cost the same for both the FE and board partner cards roughly speaking. there are a few cards that dip below FE prices by £50 but thats about it.

For the price increase, I think it is a viable think to complain about prices. Yes, people are able to afford it and yes, it is an expensive hobby and you could get into much more expensive hobbies... Then again, prices ARE going much higher, and here we saw a tier or two jump in price, which was not here before. It made a few changes, like people calling 1070 a mid tier GPU, which was high tier before. Thing is, Nvidia has monopoly over the market, as AMD GPUs are still expensive and not near the Nvidia performance (in gaming, not crypto) which means, either you buy this, or nothing.

Also i need more than 2-3 titles to enable RT to get a new GPU just for RT, unless it can be enforced to older games

People actually paying these ridiculous prices are to blame. Gamers have proven time and time again that they suck at voting with their wallets. Inb4 the resident Nvidia fanboy (not you) hits me with "hurr durr, it's not our fault you're poor" even though AMD's prices always follow Nvidia's

I'm not sure I understand the general tone of these comments?

Sure, I understand you guys don't like governments making decisions that are traditionally made by companies, but in this case the outcome will be positive for us:

Lightning is already an inferior USB-C port. Having lightning for me is a pain in the ass because my console and laptop charge by USB C, but I need a seperate cable for my phone.

I don't understand how anyone could think that Lightning is better than USB C in any regard other than aesthetics.

HippY reacted to LAwLz in EU Competition Commisioner wants to force Apple and others to switch to USB-C industry standard for charging phones
I hope you're joking... But I am not sure.

Several years ago (almost a decade at this point), phone manufacturers signed a voluntary agreement to switch over to micro-USB for their devices. This was because at the time, basically everyone had their own charger standard and it produced a ton of waste. Even Apple agreed to it.
However, the EU is now realizing that it hasn't had as big of an effect as intended, partially because Apple's solution to complying was to just sell a lighting to USB adapter (and at the time, 30-pin dock to micro-USB as pointed-out by Ars, if you had read the article).

Believe it or not, but the people in EU aren't brain-dead morons who doesn't understand technology. The person in charge of this investigation into unifying phone chargers is the same person who worked on regulations for Galileo and the Copernicus Programme. Also, whenever these types of investigations are made external sources are contacted for advice and help. It's not a 60 year old guy sitting in a room throwing darts at which law to pass.

They could, but the European market has generated over 47 billion dollars in revenue for Apple so far this year alone. We're talking hundreds of billions of dollars lost for Apple if their devices were to be banned in Europe.
I really doubt Apple makes that much money from their Lighting licensing revenue. It's probably not even 1/100 of the profits from the EU market, so it would make no financial sense to not comply if it meant jeopardizing their second biggest revenue source (the first being Americas).
