I think this is awful! No one in their right mind is gonna go for this! Heck Apple doesn't even do this! I really don't understand what Microsoft's problem is. They're racking in enough money as it is right now, why they deem this necessary is beyond me. Not only that, but streamers, gamers, content creators, and media/audio/video people like me can't afford this but I also can't switch to Linux because a great majority of my software requires the use of Windows. I'm so sick of Microsoft and the shit they're trying to pull. But I hope this is false and not actually true.

I've had Windows 11 on my Dell Latitude E5450. And frankly, I don't get what the point of it is. It's just Windows 10 with a new skin. But otherwise, Windows 11 is pointless and I absolutely refuse to upgrade my main work station to Win 11. I even disabled my TPM on my motherboard because 1. You don't need it on, and 2. I will not let Microsoft dictate to me what I run or don't run, and 3. a lot of my DAW Plugins, and DAW most likely will not run with Windows 11. I also literally do not see any performance improvements whatsoever. Basically what this comes down to is the classic marketing and hype bullshit that Microsft is known for. Windows 10 is perfectly fine as is, and I honestly wish I had Win 10 LTS on my main workstation, which is a Ryzen 5950x, 64GB ram, and RTX 3060 12GB. Even if Windows 10 gets dropped for support, I am still not going to blow my perfectly fine install of windows 10 aways just because some big-wig says too. Please tell me I am not the only one who sees this and knows it's not worth it.

Well I have, but as much as I can I try to play by the rules. The only thing that confuses me is, when you rip a Blu-Ray movie, how do you get all the special features, menus, etc, to come with the rip so you can pick and choose what you wanna watch?

In that case I think the noctua IPPC one would be good. You could go cheaper but these are quality fans. They go up to 3000RPM but at those speeds you are looking at a loud fan. They have PWN so you can adjust the speeds to your fit.

I have the Cosair H115i Pro RGB water cooler. And While the stock fans are nice and all, I'd really like to upgrade them to a litter faster speed and better quality fans like Noctua or Fractal Design fans. I think the fans are standard 140mm but I wasn't sure and I wanted to know what are the best fans for my AIO as I know not all fans are the same. Let me know and thanks in advance!

_Grid21 got a reaction from Zando_ in What was the point of this computer when it was in production?
Haha that's a lot of numbers for sure! I hated the precision board because it was so proprietary too. No real way to upgrade or move things around the system plus all the small fans on it made me worried if I ever had to replace it, would Dell service it or not.
I see. I didn't really have a computer from the X58 series. I personally came in at the Z87 Series with my Asus board now not supported since X470 boards came out. Btw, Asus is a lot better of a company IMO since I have dealt with their customer support. Not that Dell isn't great, I also own a really nice E5450 laptop that I dual booted and love it, but I know at some point all companies try to sell you new gear.
Ah ok! Good to know! Since I was into building PCs back then I am unfamiliar with computing history.

_Grid21 reacted to CruncyLicensePlates in Yamaha MG10XU quiet USB audio?
You are 100% correct. Integration of USB into Analog mixers is confusing for this 1 reason. It's a single channel on the mixer that is dual purpose. One for use stand alone / input to mixer and output from the computer. I neglected to mention that on Ch 9/10 there's a button to send the audio to the computer in either Mono or Stereo.

I'd like to point out too, that that Level Stereo nob does NOT affect how out the USB signal is into the computer, and I know because I have done numerous tests on this and the 9/10 is only designed for mix out of ALL THE CHANNELS, and USB in for bringing your computer playback into the mixer and I really feel people are missing this point royally.

Thanks! To address both of you, I am not ready to give up so easily. I am gonna try a few things and see if they work, and if not, then if anything, I got the experience of trying to overclock which has been a personal life goal of mine.

EDIT: Apparently according to HWiNFO64 41x00 is a supported speed. So what gives?

EDIT 2: Does the clock speed in this case how to do with the memory speed?

EDIT 3: I called Asus and they actually helped me understand what to set, and they told me since I am not using an AIO to just set the ratio to 35.00x, TPU 1, VDDCR CPU Power Phase control to "optimized" Precision Boost disabled, and performance Bias to "none". So I went from 3.20Ghz for a base clock to 3.50Ghz base. Not much, but I assume until I go to an AIO, that's the best I can do.

I'm totally happy! I love my board for the nice PCIe advantages too, for example, the 2 16x Slots aren't shared. I was just curious how it was laid out and why.
So since my board is "dual channel" does that mean it's Daisy Chained because of not only the color coding but also the way A DIMM and *A DIMM with the " * " symbol?

_Grid21 got a reaction from Ben17 in Dying GPU? Not sure.
I have been noticing a new strange issue with my desktop. I have a EVGA 980 Ti FTW GPU that I've had for a REALLY long time, probably a couple of years now. I stream and game on this graphics almost 25 hours a week. My issue is this. I have it set in windows that after 15 minutes Windows will display the "black" screensaver but my monitors are usually still awake meaning their power lights are still lit as normal like when I use them. Well as of recent when the screensaver goes to "black" 2 of the out monitors, I have 3 monitors, will power into a "sleep" state and are not displaying the "black" screensaver. I did some research on Google and symptoms of a dying GPU were a black screen, however, I don't know if that's on power up or what. I know the video cables are fine, and I just updated my Geforce driver last night, upon writing this that was February 15th at 4AM. I know Windows had a few updates, but none of them have to do with the GPU. So how do I know if my 980 Ti is starting to go on me? Should I replace the GPU now before I start having real issues? And if so, what is the next GPU that comes close to a 980 Ti?

Also too after the monitors enter this "sleep state" then it shifts all my windows I have open to one "asleep monitor" or the other.

Why is stuff like this a big deal? TV companies do this all the time, but when someone like Linus does it, you all freak out. Frankly, it's really none of your business how @LinusTech Decides to do any advertising. If that's the marketing plan they went with, you all should acknowledge that's what they decided to do and move on and stop wasting Linus' time in stupid marketing drama. This shouldn't be new to anyone. Let the poor man do what he loves, pay the bills for his family, and company, and continue to enjoy the great videos he makes! End of Story folks, now move on. Well for it being a digital optical to analog speaker converter, it sounds pretty good. What's cooler is that the AUX port allowed me to run an analog cable from my Yamaha MG20XU mixer headphone/monitor out to my Astor Wireless base station. So it serves 2 purposes. As weird as it sounds though, somehow the Optical audio seemed to sound more detailed than the USB port did and that's what doesn't make sense, same digital data, 2 different ways of converting it.

I feel silly for not knowing this since I study this stuff inside and out and I am a streamer myself, I knew something seem fishy but I wasn't sure what. Now, if you disable power saving stuff of the PCIe lanes, does that hold the slots at 3.0 instead of defaulting to 1.1 when not under workloads?

EDIT: How do PCI cards interact with the CPU and does that PCIe performance in any way? Granted PCI is a legacy technology, I am curious how that interfaces with the CPU.

EDIT 2: I have a bigger question. Why aren't all the PCIe separate? Why do they have to share all the same lanes? And is this where AMD Ryzen 2 handles PCIe better than Intel 4th Generation?

So I have a Dell Precision T5500 that I am trying to use as an OBS NDI encoding server. I want to put my old GTX 760 for hardware encoding to take some load off of encoding on the dual Xeon X5550s. Here is the problem The power supply is 855Watts but only has 2 6-pin power plugs, the GTX 760 needs 1 6-pin and 1 8-pin. My question is, since I won't be gaming on the server box but rather will be encoding, long-term, will the 760 be ok running on just 2 6-pin power plugs?
