Is this fucking real?

1000$ to rotate/tilt a screen?

I've also read that they offer a simple vesa adapter for $200

No fucking way this is real this has to be satire

They want $6k for 8 cores and a $200 graphics card, it does have ECC, dual 10gb nics and shitload of thunderbolt but holy shit $6k for 8 cores

You can't even be mad with Apple though

They've crafted a target audience that are willing to hand over anything they fucking put to them

It's as if they're trying to figure out how much is too much, but yea, those who spend hundreds or thousands every cycle just to get the "newest and greatest" will eat that shit up..

I think they intentionally price these things really strategically - it provides the shock factor that only rattles up the fanboys even more to feel they have to justify it even more, and so buy the fucking shit

I'm excited for a new "cutting edge " display from apple, they were way ahead of the curve a lot of times on screens, but this is madness. It's beyond greed, it's transparent to even the most layman customer. It's so brazen. Apple will always charge more for hardware, and people know that. But 1k for a STAND? That's 100$ shy of the low end imac! It's not greed, it's more like active disdain for the customer's dignity. When people buy an overprice apple computer product, they wanted mac, they often got it for the workplace, and they are getting something, they feel good about their purchase. No one will feel good about spending this kind of money on a stand, no matter how much money they have to throw around. A simple stand that costs more than a lot of people in the US make in a month after taxes, and well more than I make in a week.

Even expensive fashion items like shoes make more sense....this is barely even visible from the front....this cost twice as much as my standing desk at work!

here's the video of the announcement, I love the soft confused reaction in the crowd when he blasts past it

I hadn't seen the new mac pro until that and 100% thought it was a cheese grater

I'd like to believe that this would be true, but knowing the most dedicated of apple fanboys, they'll just find a way to justify its price, just as @wANKER mentioned.

The veil of spending is over their eyes, people will always buy things they don't need or things that are ridiculously overpriced.

A cheaper alternative might hit the market sometime soon, that's if the vesa interface isn't proprietary (or even the screw threads for that matter)

@lewdicrous just taking the vesa adapter and a vesa stand still costs less.

Unless their vesa adapter has it's own way of mounting to their stand, then you'd need to somehow rig it up to the stand of your choosing.

    Hopefully that's not the case.

Mounting between the vesa adapter from apple and the end user's equipment.

    Addition:

If the vesa size on their display is standard then you can just buy an off the shelf vesa mount.

If it's not standard, but can fit on any mount, then you can just buy the adapter and use any mount you want*.

If the adapter won't fit on any mount, then you might need to buy what apple offers until someone makes their own version.

*As long as they fit together, if not, then maybe you can 3d print an adater that goes between your mount and their vesa adapter.
