A plea to our LTT overloards on Headphone reviews
spartaman64 replied to LapsedMemory's topic in Audio
maybe they should get a HE1 also as a measure of the peak. though ive heard sennheiser hasnt been responding to requests so maybe they will have to settle for a susvara or something Kappa -
yeah like the other guy said i personally would get silent alpacas and spring swap them if i want something like that

its hard to say because people have different preferences. but you would be going from a treble heavy headphone to a treble light headphone so you might not like the tonality if you like the tonality of the dt990. but the lcd2 takes EQ very well i would also suggest considering the used market. lcd2 goes for around $700 and the hd800 is around 800 used. just make sure you are getting the fazor model if you want the current variant also i wouldnt say planars are better than dynamics it depends on the implementation. there are certain characteristic and I find that I generally like the characteristics of planars but that may or may not be the case for you.

dont a lot of people use bluetooth headphones on planes? from what i see on google its allowed also but might depend on the airline

also its hard to get the full volume on android because they dont have hardware volume control without rooting or something like UAPP. I got abigail dongle from aliexpress and while i havent had time to ab test upon initial impressions I think its better than apple dong. also the cable on abigail is much more robust and i heard the cable fraying on the apple dong is a problem

a lot of companies had trouble with the 3000 series cards. and its becoming clear that its because nvidia gave them samples too late and they didnt have time to properly test them. also on the cooling complaints i dont think evga had much issues with cooling the gpu so i dont really care about these marketing terms as long as the temps are good. also nobody was able to get cards from another of the other aibs either their queue system helped a lot of people have a chance of getting a card and iirc when linus launched his verified gamer thing evga was the biggest contributor. also at launch evga has by far the most number of cards on the consumer market. at the time we thought they were just given more chip but later we learned that nvidia and some aibs were doing private sales to crypto miners so maybe evga was just the company that was doing the least of that

i watched gn's video and yeah i understand now. its a personal decision not a business one. the ceo probably has all the money he wants so hes doing this out of passion and having to deal with nvidia's shit probably killed a lot of his interest in working on gpus. and maybe he thinks amd and intel makes inferior products so he's not interested in a partnership with them for now

Yep but I didn't really mind since the p2w "exchange rate" is terrible. You could spend 1000 dollars and get nothing out of it lol. Enhancing is heavily rng based

theres also people who pay hundreds of thousands for costumes to melt into cron stones to prevent their gear from downgrading on failed enhancements. some guy spent 300k usd got banned for piloting made a new account and spent another 270k usd LUL they also use leaseweb one of the cheapest server providers but very low quality. after the server migration i heard they also started using AWS but im not sure what's the split also a ton of stuff in bdo is client side. unfortunately this leads to people being able to do stuff like speedhacking and i think its one of the things increasing desync issues in the game

Is a DAC only important if you don't have an headphone jack?
spartaman64 replied to Case maker's topic in Audio
the dac in the apple dongle is pretty good. imo cheaper dacs dont really make that much of a difference. it was not until the rme adi-2 that i heard a difference in dacs- 7 replies

the absolute best? probably something like the focal utopia. most modern computers etc should be able to drive them to a decent volume but some older stuff might struggle with the 80 ohms so maybe the focal clears if thats an issue ok jokes aside maybe something like the akg k371. if you get a 10 dollar apple dongle it should really expand the amount of headphones you can power effectively. unless you live in the EU and have to get the usb c version. with the apple dongle you can go for something like the hd6xx or he400se/sundara

you can turn the volume low enough so its not too loud but i dont think you would really benefit too much from them with a dt990 but since you planning to upgrade in the future its fine. i think you should consider just getting the amp for now since "low priced" dacs imo dont really offer that much of a benefit unless you are having interference issues with your pc

there has been some QC issues but that aside the performance of schiit products have been generally good. also it seem like a bit of a conflict of interest for a competitor to be making such statements on an impartial forum
