yes and no. one of the characteristics of most planars is fast transient response and decay. but that can sound unnatural to some people also some people say they have a lack of dynamics. but at the end of the day you are still listening to headphones

i like the sundara but i also like the characteristics of planars. I also know a lot of people who dont like planars to the point where a hd6xx is better to them than susvara. have you heard a planar headphone before?

i don't like ads either but what's the alternative? pay a 5 dollar monthly sub for every website you want to use? if everyone uses adblock then a lot of websites won't have income to run anymore.

Help: I'm having an impossible dilemma with choosing speakers
spartaman64 replied to Djeunut's topic in Audio
you can probably find a pair of jbl 305p mkii for under 200 -
maybe a pair of jbl 305p mkii? I see they are on sale for $109 per unit right now so 220

the concept was ok but its more exploit world than new world. you can become unkillable if you drag around the game window which makes certain CTF pvp game modes pointless to play. theres new money/resource duping glitches that breaks the economy happening like every other week. its a contest of who can exploit the hardest. i thought maiding or mapping was bad in bdo but apparenty new world turns that up to 11

yeah i heard the qudelix 5k has a better parametric EQ

moondrop nekocake, or if you can stretch the budget moondrop sparks. the sparks dont have anc but idk how good the anc on nekocake or any fake airpod is anyways and their sound quality is better. nekocake has ok sound quality also.

FTC sues to block Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard

i mean isnt the point that this might be good for pc and xbox users but bad for playstation users thus anticompetitive. US anticompetitve laws are more around anticompetitive behavior than if a company is an actual monopoly -
xm4s are ok but very "consumer tuning" ie boosted bass and recessed treble. does get mitigated by some of the EQ presets. i havent heard the galaxy buds but they should be tuned better in theory. I liked the moondrop sparks more but they lack many of the features like ANC also they occasionally randomly unpair from each other and i need to put then back in the case and press on them for 5 seconds.

yes you will lose automatic ear detection, spatial audio, customization of controls, and find my device. but it should still be useable

Heres my personal experience with amps and dacs. I upgraded from my onboard amp to a liquid spark and got a pretty big improvement probably not a surprise to anyone especially with my headphones at the time being 250 ohms. Then i got a headphone upgrade and thought I might as well upgrade my amp also and I got an a90. It wasn't as big as onboard to liquid spark but I experienced a pretty significant improvement. At the same time I got an smsl m300 mkii dac but I didn't experience any improvement with that compared to the onboard dac. Then i went to canjam and tried out some amps and dacs. I was mostly unimpressed. The benchmark and DCS lina stacks sounded pretty much the same as my a90 smsl m300 stack. I thought the chord hugo tt2 with mscaler might sound a bit better but nowhere near justifying its 12000 dollar price. The burson soloist grand tourer sounded downright horrible imo. If anyone says amps and dacs all sound the same listen to that Kappa. Imo it sounds worse than a dongle. The one that really impressed me with its sound was the rme adi2 pro fs and it was by itself. Later I bought the dac version and it sounded as good as I remembered. And when I connected it to my a90 to use as a dac it sounded even better. Is it the dac? I'm not sure maybe it's just the better preamp.

k361 has a more agreeable tuning for most people. many people find the entire dt lineup sibilant

for a while you can get er2se for 50 dollars if you paste in an email price thingy int he url on adorama but they seem to have discontinued that lol.

max voltage your amp can output and how that translates to db with your headphone's impedance and sensitivity. headphones are not smart systems and they will go as loud as the amp forces power into them. well until they pop. the exception being if you have a bluetooth headphone or some other headphone with a built in amp

hd 600 Looking for DAC/AMP recommendations for HD 600 - BTR5 or something else?
spartaman64 replied to NCSGeek's topic in Audio
maybe a dx3 pro+ a little over budget but not by much. its not balanced but considering the main selling point for regular consumers with balanced is more power and it has more power single ended than the fiio amp balanced -
theres the focal bathys. they are meant to be used bluetooth but they have a dac mode with usb C. they are a bit pricy though. maybe theres other wireless headphones that does that also but im not sure

hd 600 Looking for DAC/AMP recommendations for HD 600 - BTR5 or something else?
spartaman64 replied to NCSGeek's topic in Audio
i think you might be better off just getting an amp for now and maybe something like an apple dongle to use as a dac if you are having problems with your computer dac. theres balanced input and balanced output. i wouldnt worry about either of those unless you are making long cable runs or live in a radio lab or something. also i wouldnt worry about DSD. I got some to tryout they were expensive like 30 dollars for the album or something and they took up a lot of space 1.7GB per song file. I didnt really notice a difference between it and flac and theoretically there shouldnt be a difference unless your dac reconstruction filter is terrible. -
'Pixel Fold' renders leak with a supposed $1,799 price tag
spartaman64 replied to Haaselh0ff's topic in Tech News
i think their point is products usually last much longer than the manufacturer's ratings. so we shouldnt take the how many folds rating as a hard cap -
i saw someone's measurement of a gigabyte z390 aorus audio output. it looked ok until the output impedance test. 78 ohms thats going to alter the frequency response of most average consumer headphones and if you get a higher impedance headphone it might not have enough power

difference between single driver and multi driver IEMs?
spartaman64 replied to Stan2292's topic in Audio
I thought er4xr is single BA. But anyways as person said how many drivers isnt always indicative of performance. its a design/tuning choice made by the companies having multiple drivers can make it easier by having each driver cover a specific range or having a driver augment sound from another one. but in the end it comes down to execution. I think blessing 2 is probably the best its price for most people. Maybe the blessing 2 dusk if you want more bass. I've also always been a bit scared about ety's triple flange eartips after hearing about someone having part of it break off in his ear. But the b2 has chonky nozzles which might be an issue if you have small ear canals. Another option is the 7hz timeless but ive heard there was a revision at some point. Some people say its worse some say its the same I have no idea lol.
