  1. Actually according to every single source on the web, the 5775c comes with 128MB of eDram. I forgot about the other coherent cpu model's eDram amount.
  2. This is just ONE of the many reasons why I voted Ron Paul the past two RIGGED presidential elections ( 2004 and 2008). He isn't, at heart, a republiCRAT nor a demoCAN. He is a FREE thinking intelligent decent baby delivering human being. Sad that he had to retire. Oh well, his son, Rand, is probably the closest REAL chance we have at REAL change ( unlike the kind barry seotoro aka oBUMMER kept promising in his campaign rhetoric). People, it's not rocket science and it doesn't even require a college or high school level education. " If you do the same things you've always done...using same methods, every time against the same problems and expect DIFFERENT results, THAT is the definition of insanity ( and imo asininity)." If you TRULY want to fix our nation with anything you MAY have control over, STOP voting for the same "polished-ticians". Rand Paul is THE ONLY obvious choice. He's a libertarian at heart ( something we have NEVER had. Also don't say George Washington. Technically he was an old school democrat, which isn't MUCH of a problem imo, but still didn't have sense enough to abolish slavery) Let the haters begin posting their stupidity and ignorance against me because I know all you haters and the two-party system voters out there ...WILL because you can't think for yourselves instead of the tv doing it for you.
  3. @techguru, No. I don't do huhu, netflix, or any other internet required media content service ( youtube is an acception to me) unless I see content on there I like and there is a free trial period available with an UNgimped access to that content. I see a movie I like, I rent it on redbox. If it's worthy. I buy it at the pawn shop, then I take that purchased copy and rip it to my hdd. Next, I shrink it using Handbrake. Then, I make a backup copy of that to my external hdd that is connected to my WDTV live smp which never leaves my home. This smp will eventually be replaced by my 4k ready custom build htpc that I'm already planning the build for. Also in case anyone feels like providing me with an asinine response related to" OO.OOOO COPYRIGHT VIOLATOR. SOUND THE ALARM!!" . It is perfectly legal to make a backup copy of something you PURCHASED ( movie wise) to use IN YOUR OWN HOME as long as you DON'T upload it to the internet and don't try to sell it and keep the profits as you PAID for the damn content and are NOT trying to monetize it given that you are not the creator of it. This isn't up for discussion so don't waste your time nor mine arguing otherwise.
  4. @slenderman379, That raven case is pretty sweet, but takes up too much room horizontally. I've already chosen the that Thermaltake Element Qi.
  5. @EcoBoost, That's good to know. All that i'll be using this pc for is solid 4k and below- movie/video watching and possibly as another data backup storage solution. Time to get started grinding the 4130 vs 4130t data all over the net. Cheers
  6. @EcoBoost, DAMN that was fast.lol. Thanks.
  7. I chose the Thermaltake Element Qi pc case ( includes a 220w psu). Now here is what I need help with choosing. Requirements: 1. Lowest wattage possible intel haswell or broadwell cpu capable of SMOOTH 4k video playback WITHOUT dedicated vid card. 2. Mini itx intel motherboard with displayport ( it's a safe bet any of these has the required version of displayport that supports 4k @ 60hz by now) 3. Linux distro that is a heavenly dream to use JUST mainly for video/movie watching and boots up fast ( i'm not against some medium and a little heavy tweaking, but I still consider myself a linux noob ( sophomore imo at best) 4. The software/o.s./distro MUST support .mkv files ( I use Handbrake to shrink movies using Intel quicksync setting) Thanks in advance for all the help.
  8. The point is a faster Windows installation. I"ve literally sat down and hand-timed it. the ssd WAS around twice as fast as my 32GB usb 3.0 sandisk ultra thumb drive. I'm thinking this is due to the much faster 4k read speeds from the callisto deluxe that comes closer to matching the 4k write speeds of my sata gen III samsung 850 evo 500GB ssd. Think about it and see it real time for yourself. ANY time you're transferring/copying a ( do this test using a big file like a bluray movie for example) big file from one storage drive to another, quickly open up Task Manager in Windows and carefully look at the drive's WRITE speed, the one that is is RECEIVING the file, and the READ speed of the drive from which the file is coming FROM. You'll see what I mean. Yes, system image backups have saved my bacon many times and save me tons of time, but it's nice to know IF I must nuke the o.s. installed storage drive and start all over fresh, I can do it MUCH faster than before. So there is plenty of point to this exercise. Until you find yourself needing to get your pc back up and a system image restoration ISN'T an option, you'll then realize how valuable it can be. Cheers
  9. I am a complete noob to Intel as far as DIRECT experience is concerned. I swam through the oceans of info involving intel cpu overclocking since the sandy bridge days when Linus ( ncix tech tips days) was a blonde with this backwards hat, and I realized there is much to consider depending on the board and cpu gen, etc. Current rig: NZXT Hale 90 m ( first gen) 1k watt psu, Asrock z97m pro4 matx motherboard 4790k ( auto voltages) with Cryorig R1 Ultimate cpu cooler, 2 sticks of 8GB Kingston Savage ram at XMP profile 1 thus 2400mhz at 1.65 volts Samsung 850 evo 500GB ssd 3TB 7200 rpm hdd, Sapphire r9 280x 3GB vram vid card There are so many things in this mobo's UEFI /bios to deal with it's making my head spin. Please help, (preferably from someone experience with this board/ brand lineup coherent enough to this motherboard and this cpu if possible), and I thank you all for any reasonable suggestions including but perhaps not limited to the follow: 1. Things to disable 2. Things to ENSURE they are ENabled 3. Realistic ghz limits. I"m guessing 4.6ghz is my best case scenario. Thanks sincerely for all the help.
  10. @Prastupok. I installed Win 8.1 por 64 bit using a 60GB mushkin chronos deluxe sata gen 3 ssd to a samsung 850 evo 500GB sata gen 3 ssd. I don't think there are any REAL bottlenecks there as it took precisely 3.5 minutes to install windows including the system reboot time. The " setting up" part was the same speed since the same ssd ( 850 evo) is doing the work.
  11. I want to use a ssd as the bootable media containing the Windows o.s installation disc/files to install Windows MUCH faster than your usb thumb drive . ***Keep in mind I already have an adapter cord/cable ( the same thing that comes in any Apricorn EZ gig cloning software- kit that sells for $29.99 USD or higher anywhere). Thus I don't need a 2.5" storage drive enclosure to enable me to plug the ssd into the pc via usb 3.0.*** Can a ssd be made bootable and used to install Windows to the storage drive in your pc just like how you can use the "Windows 7 usb/dvd download tool" that is free and works with both win 7 and all flavors of 8? I have no reason to assume it can't since the usb thumb drive is just simply the same overall thing except slower nand flash and slower controller(s). Has anyone tried this? I haven't seen LMG, Tech of tomorrow, Tek Syndicate, nor any of the newegg or ncixcom teams speak of nor try this. Thanks for the intelligent info fellow geeks. Cheers
  12. Perhaps you should reinstall Windows ( custom) but FIRST do a system image backup first just in case you want to get back EXACTLY where you're at now if Freshly reinstalling windows doesn't do the trick. I know this seems like ( bringing out a nuke to kill a 4x4 foot fire ant bed) resolution, but drastic times call for drastic measures, and it sounds like you're at that point of frustration. I know by now I would be. Remember WHATEVER storage drive you use to perform the System Image Backup TO, ensure you DON'T ever install any programs into it otherwise Windows WON'T let you use it for System Image Backups ever until that backup drive is completely nuked again. I don't fully understand why, but trust me. I know this from experience. Brain farts often teach us much more in life than a book. Nothing beats field experience. After freshly reinstalling Windows, open Notepad or take physical notes and monitor ( after installing any and every driver, program, etc) your ram usage. Log it before and after download AND before and after installing windows updates. Set it "to check for updates automatically but let me choose when to download and install them." Log it in between ANY and everything you do on that pc and eventually you'll find the real cause of the problem. Whenever I would slam my head into the pavement in frustration KNOWING I went through every possible practical and normally successful option to resolve any pc problem, just nuking the Windows o.s installed storage drive and starting clean ALWAYS resolved the problem. Knowing my luck, my problems were caused by a crazy registry edit, or some other program settings that goofed with something important, like my chrome's browser extensions behavior or the behavior of the browser itself. I"ll check back tomorrow on ya. Good luck. Win 8.1 pro 64 bit here.
  13. Also, it is obvious from reading your reply comments on this url that you're just either trolling in a George Carlin-want to be way ( the want to be part seems to stem from your expertise in portable audio consumption gear aka headphones/headsets) or you haven't anything more intelligent to do with your time than to insult others who have legitimately made good buying decisions. I smell " console" peasant on you. * Points to newegg or ncix.com for a proper baptism and exorcism* Come back to Earth. It's ok. We all make mistakes.
  14. ( facepalm) Tek Syndicate isn't just some random youtube channel. Even IF Logan himself was a moron and had no clue what he was talking about ( which isn't the case OBVIOUSLY had you watched even one of their episodes) he surrounds himself with intelligent, experienced, and very critical people in the pc tech world. They also have sense not to say stupid crap like " zed 97" when it's clearly "z97" Youtube, Linustechtips.com, Teksyndicate.com, anandtech.com are ALL equally viable sources of pc tech related information in one context or another. So what IS good enough for your precious needs then? Ask any TRUE musician ( not the garbage you hear on the local radio station like y101.7 down here in central MS, USA that plays the same teenie bopper one hit wonder crap like " all about that bass" and other mindless asinine machine-voice-tuning songs which is 99.99% of pop culture and has been for the past 7+ years easily) if they use a headset or an EXCELLENT pair of headphones when they are sampling their own music. THINK about it. Conversation is over.
