TheDustyHeatsink's Achievements

  1. Can anyone give me a maximum safe voltage? I will be running a h80 on the card which I have spare, via a g10 adapter so temperatures should not be a problem.
  2. That's all well and good but its still "it could"...what makes 1.6V the maximum? CPU's cooled on various liquid's easily pass the 1.6 mark and they don't instantly self destruct... Intel themselves actually have recommended in the past a max of 1.9V on ln2 for ivy bridge, so 1.6 is definitely not the "maximum" if you remove cooling as a factor..
  3. Yeah but talking theoretically here, what if I exceed the "suggested" voltage way before I'm even close to the temperature limit? For example, pushing 1.6/1.7V on my Phenom 965. What would be the next dangerous factor? (if any)... such a grey area.
  4. Hiii, I'm at a loss to find information on what is considered to be "safe" voltages? I'm certainly not a novice when it comes to computers, however as increasing the voltage ramps the temps up like crazy, is there considered to be any dangers of going pretty high other than temperatures? Say I use a ridiculous cooler, not sub-zero temps, but would there actually be any danger with putting the voltages to what are considered to be "pretty high", as long as the temperatures are okay? If not, how do I know where to draw the line? It seems like a bit of a grey area to me. I don't practically have this as a problem for overclocking my own set up, but its just been bugging me! Dusty.
  5. I love the unique design & great performance of the liquid cooler! My CPU is dying for a better cooler.
  6. Thank you Linus & Co What I love about your videos most are that they are snappy, to the point, entertaining and factual. Wait that's more than one thing, oh well. I found LinusTechTips while researching/dreaming parts for my first computer build, of which is still my daily beast 3 years on. I adore Fractal's new marketing strategy on the channel! The community is top. Keep em' rollin' Linus. Subscribers is JUST A NUMBER don't forget, as is resolution and frame rate. Jack.
  7. Yes I see the point you are getting at, and I completely agree. It's a very fine line as to what people deem as inappropriate, which depends entirely on how you interpret it. I do agree that it is way more important to prioritize time on tracking and prosecuting those who are real criminals. Mainly because the internet will always contain controversial material, and there is nothing really that can be done to remove these minority areas/sites. It's difficult to set out a black and white rule for what should be and should not be allowed on the internet when it comes to art, because it's a form of free expression. That's what art is. I'm sorry to hear what happened during your childhood.
  8. Automatically labelling me as someone who seeks things to complain about.... thanks. Regarding one of your other comments, "I find adults telling little children they will burn for all eternity in fire if they don't follow a book with many plotholes creepy, but that's their business.". I completely agree, however "that's their business" is like saying, rapists can commit their crime, but that's their business, therefore I will not intervene or stand up to it. Child porn on the internet, I'm sure you will agree, is sick. I do not need a better understanding of anime to know what kind of horrible, child depicting comics are terrifyingly common within some sites and stores. I do think that CNN were way to generalist about labelling anime as "child porn", however, there is no way you can possibly be FOR certain "child porn" depicting comics and images, surely?
  9. It's interesting how most people say this is stupid.... I think not. Certain anime comics do depict child pornography, thus apparently making it vaguely acceptable which is pretty sick.... saying its OK because its not real is a bit ignorant.
  10. Loving everything about it! Would be perfect to upgrade from my beat up little galaxy ace!
  11. HAHA. Yeh Geoffrey the cleaner tripped out the server cuz he plugged in a hoover
  12. I thought it was worth mentioning, as it makes me feel warm and fuzzy when its down.
