So probably none of you will remember but I did an amatuer build log showcasing my build of my "ultimate" budget gaming rig. Hephaestus. A ZOTAC 980 AMP, 16GB of T-Force RAM, an i5 6600K at 4.3GHz constant in an In-Win 303 case on an ASUS Maximus Hero 9 board....That was about 2 or 3 years ago and my GPU is about 7 years old now. But at 2560x1080p this rig has kept me going strong at 144Hz pretty much Ultra settings for everything. But then I played the ANTHEM demo... I was getting barely over 70 frames with everything set to about High details. Granted the game was gorgeous but the super open world games like it, Far Cry 5, sometimes even Warframe, Destiny 2 on rare occasion, Just Cause 2, pretty much anything I do in VR that tries to be a AAA title, I haven't tried Witcher 3 yet but I assume that'll be hard to play and etc. Also just going through what games I want in the future... Metro Exodus, Rage 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, etc... So TL:DR, I want to up my system. I'm planning on buying a 2080, non-ti, when my tax returns come in and then transitioning my 980 into my Ryzen build. But I wanna know the best CPU/RAM upgrades I can do for my dollar. I REALLY don't want to have to buy a whole new board because I already have several perfectly good motherboards sitting on a shelf not being used because they're old and it annoys the shite out of me. btw if it helps both my GPU and CPU are often pinned at 100% usage while gaming. Included pic is about a half hour into the Anthem demo

So the Corsair controller DOES let you do SOME things, i don't know what kind of functions you can get out of it though. ASUS AURA kindof sucks for "reacting to music" as it is just not very accurate if you try plugging it into a motherboards 50/50 header. Aside from that they have a certain limit of things one header can control because it has to power everything and it's not a super powerful port. I would say that you're trying to do something very ambitious and you'll likely need to teach yourself Arduino programming in order to run the fans in the unique way you want...also those things are SO loud when you get close lol

You all are telling me an unfortunate truth I've known for too long...I just hate to get rid of the 980 because of how absolutely beautiful it looks especially compared to the gross cards out now..all black frames with black/gray frames instead relying on RGB lights...also it's expensive A.F.

So PAX East is on its way...last year at PAX East I started Project Hephaestus. Re-creating my gaming PC using The Greek god Hephaestus as an inspiration. Steel, Lava, Reds/Oranges/Grays. It perfectly matches my ZOTAC 980 AMP Edition. Since all I really do is gaming and spreadsheets and video watching I have always stuck with an i5 because it just makes sense. Best price/performance with Intel, perfectly powerful for every day usage. THAT BEING SAID... When playing Destiny 2 in 2560x1080 at Ultra details [except shadows at low, bloom off and DoF off] I am not even able to keep stable at 144Hz [my monitor refresh rate] I very RARELY break below 90 or 100, which is still a great experience, but I am worried that it will become an issue for me So this takes me back to PAX East...last year is when I bought my 6600k...do you think it would be worth it to get a 7700k OR a 6600k since it will be on sale? And if I should upgrade, would I need to upgrade my cooler from the Noctua NH-Lx65 I have now to keep below 75-80C? I know I should upgrade my 980 soon but its SO expensive lol

So that FAQ only applies to 6 different types of monitors that they sell, sadly the one you have is not one of the ones supported, hence why you don't see the VESA mounting screw holes

So I'm trying to get a U.P.S. for my workstation/gaming rig at home. Power here is pretty reliable but we do occasionally get really bad wind/rain/ice storms and I would like to know that my systems will be safe especially with how cheap these units seem to be... I have about a $150-$200USD limit According to the PCPP list I made here https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XN2tM8 my system uses about 500W [rounding up to next highest 100] so what kind of system should I look at which would give me about 5 minutes of safety for my system? Also does the battery beep when it loses power even if everything connected to it is turned off?

Alright so hear me out here...I am working on a "Hephaestus" themed build. Hephaestus is the is the Greek god of blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals, metallurgy, fire and volcanoes. I was thinking of taking the fan from a horizontal CPU cooler [like a Noctua NH-L9x65] and glittering the fan blade itself like how Linus does in the Christmas build off, except I would maybe do an orange or silver glitter so while the fan spins and the RGB LEDs hit it, it looks like liquid metal or lava spinning. But i'm wondering, aside from the mess of glitter [i assume that the glitter that spun off of the fan in the Christmas video when they finally turned it on was just excess and it would only fly off that once] would it be so dangerous to the fan I use on the cooler? I may or may not use the actual Noctua fan on the cooler but i'm just curious what you all had to say about the idea <3

Thanks a ton man. The point of doing a horizontal cooler is so I can put a fancy fan there and show it off along with the other 3 fans in the vertical top portion of the case. I've been looking at some coolers designed like the PH-TC14CS but I've been avoiding them on principal because i'm worried about the heat pipes bending over time...do you or anyone you can quote has any experience of that happening? I call that cooler design a "floating" radiator.

By Horizontally I mean that the fan is laying down parallel to the motherboard. The case i'll be working in is the new inwin 303c when it comes out in Q2 2017 but for now i'm in a cooler master HAF EVO XB. I plan to be using full height or slightly higher than full height RAM like the GEIL EVO X or similar RGB LED RAM sticks [right now im using Ballistix Tracer Orange/Blue]

I don't wanna spend 150USD+ for the "proper" AiO I should get to get good performance lol...the cost of potentially 2 new CPUs is WAY out of the question

Maybe take the cooler apart and clean?
