  1. @therandomness I don't mind. I can't afford to buy one graphics card right now. It's better to get a single GPU and then upgrade to a second later on down the line.
  2. Righttttt... I am going to be building a new PC soon. A kind of standard-affair(i5 6500, z170 motherboard, 8gb of ram, 250GB 850 pro and a 1TB WD blue).I am also getting an r9 380. In the future, I am planning to upgrade to 2x r9 380s. There isn't much information on the internet(what I did see recommended an 800w power supply, which surely isn't right?) Just wanted your opinions? I was thinking a good 600w power supply, but if you can prove otherwise I will likely go with something else? Thank you alllllll
  3. So, this was in the UK news recently Wanted people's opinions? Personally, I think it is pretty awful, I like my privacy to be honest http://www.kitguru.net/channel/jon-martindale/police-push-for-ability-to-view-web-history-without-warrants/ Police in the UK are lobbying the government to give them the powers to look at what they describe as the “where, when and what,” of online activities, essentially letting them view the browsing history of every single internet user in the UK, without being issued a warrant. The reasoning they claim, is that with more and more transactions being carried out online, traditional methods of surveillance just can’t keep an eye on people like they used to. “Five years ago, [a suspect] could have physically walked into a bank and carried out a transaction. We could have put a surveillance team on that but now, most of it is done online. We just want to know about the visit,” said Richard Berry (via the Guardian), a spokesperson for the National Police Chief’s council and assistant chief constable at Gloucestershire police. ‘What’s that some kind of illegal porn?! Oh, it’s a medical device? Log his activity anyway…’ Source: Wikimedia Perhaps not believing his own argument, Berry did clarify that he would consider it much too “intrusive,” for officers to be able to read the content of online actions such as as search results and social networking messages and said that a warrant should be required in those instances. He did say however that the measures being proposed were no different than what the police were already capable of doing with telephone records. These are the sorts of measures that the Theresa May pushed ‘Snooper’s Charter’ were meant to implement, but it was initially shot down by the Liberal Democrats when they were part of the last government’s coalition. However it may be that the Investigatory Powers Bill announced earlier this year and set to come into force soon, will provide many of these same powers to police forces and intelligence agencies, despite the concern of privacy advocates.

  5. From http://www.kitguru.net/desktop-pc/console-desktop-pc/matthew-wilson/you-can-now-buy-the-ps4-and-xbox-one-in-laptop-form/ Consoles aren’t the most portable things in the world but Ed Zarick looks to be changing that by showing off and selling the PlayBook 4 and Xbook One- laptop versions of Sony and Microsoft’s latest consoles. However, you’ll need to have a wedge of disposable income in order to afford one as they both cost close to £1000/$1500. Zarick is a self-taught engineer who was also responsible for previously creating a portable Xbox 360, the Xbook 360. Last month, he began selling the Xbook One, featuring a 22 Inch Vizio 1080p LED TV and the console itself packaged in a 3D printed and laser cut case. Zarick has run through the process of turning a console in to a laptop on his own website, Edsjunk. The process for the Playbook 4 is presumably exactly the same, featuring a 22″ Vizio 1080p LED TV and a 3D printed and laser cut case for the console. As you can see in the image above too, these laptop versions can be a bit chunky, the PS4 as we are used to seeing it is actually fairly small. Both consoles come with a HDMI out so that they can still be plugged in to a TV as a console rather than just being used as a laptop. Apparently, demand for these is actually quite high, the Xbook One goes for $1500 plus $75 extra for shipping inside of the US, international shipping will cost extra. The Playbook 4 on the other hand goes for $1400 with shipping charged as extra. Buyers are required to pay a $750.00 non-refundable upfront deposit in order to be added to the waiting list.
  6. Well, I found LTT as a nervous 13-year-old, wanting to know how to build my first computer and general pc tech news. Now, two years later, it is even more awesome and the community to back it up is perfect and I hope Linus and Luke and the rest of the team understand how much of an impact they had on the tech world and I am so grateful and omg tytyty
  7. Yeah, it's copy pasta from the website, but if you don't want to click the link, eh. Remember that piece we did on Nvidia's Research Paper? The one that claimed that the GM200 flagship core would be launching in this year? Well turns out there was something to it after all. I was doing my habitual cursory inspection of the shipping data at Zauba.com and I spotted the entry we have been waiting for. The Customer Sample of the GM200 core. The Customer Sample means that most of the internal testing of the GM200 is now complete and they are now refining the end product. Nvidia GM200 ‘Maxwell Flagship’ Core Internal Testing Finished – GTX Titan II Coming SoonNow I am not sure whether I have told you guys this before but Nvidia is hosting a very big reveal event on 10 – 12 September next month and this is where the second generation Maxwell will make its debut. Nvidia will be hosting a reveal event and we will probably see the GTX900 Mobility Series unveiled too. However, we just might even see the next iteration of the Titan series at the reveal too, considering the fact that shipping data shows the GPU is now completely ready. Do keep in mind that I do not know what the card will be called, but Titan II seems like a good name as any. Here is the shipping entry from Zauba.com that confirms that the GM200 aka the Titan II GPU are now exiting the internal testing state: Before the first ‘CS’ entry which appeared on 12th August 2014, there had only been entries using the nomenclature ‘INT’ which means the core is meant for Internal Testing. Because green follows the same pattern we knew that once the INT chips were spotted the CS chips wouldn’t be that far behind and it looks like our waiting has paid off because the chips with the name GM200-CS0-A1 and GM200-CS1-A1 have been spotted, indicating that the GPU is now more or less ready. This core will have double the performance per watt of the GK110 core (as can be seen from the research paper) and we should see an amazing leap in gaming performance from 204 to 200. So the jump from Titan to the Titan II is shaping out to be pretty cool. The GTX Titan II (or whatever it is called) should give you a minimum of 50% performance increase in Gaming in real life settings, seeing we are looking at a 100% boost in on-paper performance. Considering the fact that the research paper by Nvidia also claimed that the Titan II would be out before the end of 2014 means that the time line for this GPU is now more or less confirmed. I believe we are looking at a 2 Month launch window considering the history of the GM204 core. That would put the the launch of the GM200 GPU somewhere around November, unless Nvidia manages to pull one on us and launch alongside GM204. 8. I am not sure if this has already been posted. If it has, sorry. Although it was expected that Nvidia Corp. would release its new GeForce GTX 800-series graphics cards for desktops this September and October, the company has decided to skip the GeForce 800 family for desktop PCs and jump straight to the GeForce 900 line of products. Model numbers of modern central processing units and graphics processing units have been criticized criticized for years since in many cases they barely reflect performance and positioning of products and in many cases cannot even determine their generation. At present Nvidia offers high-end GeForce GTX 700-series of products for desktop computers. At the same time, the company sells GeForce GTX 800M family of products for notebooks. What is rather confusing is that both lineups – the GTX 700 and the GTX 800M – are based on similar chips powered by the Kepler architecture. In a bid to avoid confusion with its upcoming families of graphics processing units for desktop and mobile computers, Nvidia decided to sell its products powered by the second-generation Maxwell GPUs code-named GM200, GM204 and other under the GeForce 900 moniker, reports VideoCardz. As a result, Nvidia is now expected to formally introduce the GeForce GTX 970 and the GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards on the 19th of September, 2014. The GeForce GTX 960 is projected to arrive sometime in October. Nvidia did not comment on the news-story.
  9. Remember the article I posted last time? Adata, one of the world’s largest independent suppliers of memory modules, on Thursday introduced its first family of DDR4 memory solutions aimed at enthusiasts. Unfortunately, the Adata XPG Z1 DDR4 memory will not be faster than the top-of-the-range DDR3 memory modules from other makers, yet, it will still allow to overclock memory sub-systems of the upcoming code-named “Haswell-E” chips. The Adata XPG Z1 DDR4 solutions will be available as 4GB and 8GB modules with 1.2V voltage setting in dual-channel and quad-channel kits. The XPG Z1 DDR4 solutions are rated to run at 2133MHz with CL15 15-15 or CL13 13-13timings, 2400MHz with CL16 16-16 latency settings as well as at 2800MHz with CL17 17-17 settings. The modules are based on advanced 10-layer printed-circuit boards with 2oz copper that are designed for extreme clock-rates. All the XPG Z1 DDR4 memory solutions utilize brand-new cooling systems, which feature a jet wing-inspired design with carbon texture used for race cars, symbolizing the pursuit of extreme performance. It is noteworthy that for some reason Adata decided not to push its first-generation DDR4 modules for enthusiasts higher than to 2.80GHz. Modern DDR3 modules can function at 3.0GHz and upwards. Some other makers of enthusiast-class memory plan to offer 3.0GHz and even 3.20GHz DDR4 modules this year. The Adata XPG Z1 DDR4 memory modules will be available starting next month and will be covered by a lifetime warranty.
