  1. My family has a large music library (200+ GB) and are all avid music fans. When my sisters and I each went off to university we created copies of the library. Through this we have ended up with multiple branches of the library which each of us have expanded independently. I would like to merge all these libraries into one master that I keep on a NAS. In the end I hope to have a NAS in my apartment with the master library, which I could use to stream music to different devices in my house (primarily my computer and a Chromecast Audio connected to my main speakers). Does anyone have experience merging media libraries? Due to the size I would need something automated. Also what software should I use for managing the library on my NAS? All the libraries are currently in iTunes Finally, would a basic NAS (eg a WD myCloud) be sufficient or should I build my own?
  2. This is a really cool console replacement. Also, I travel back and forth between uni and home and it would be great to have something that I could move with ease. Awesome giveaway, great videos. Keep up the good work!

  5. Thanks so much for the responses. I plan to upgrade my RAM in about a week. I'll give it a try and let you guys know if it works.
  6. I’ve been looking into upgrading my laptop from 4GB of RAM to 8GB. My Dad has an iMac with two empty RAM slots. Both of our computers currently have a 2x2GB RAM configuration. The RAM in my computer is a higher speed, but would it be possible to add my RAM to his? (effectively giving him 8GB in a 4x2GB config) Thanks, Bellow is more information of each of our RAM configurations (pulled from the Apple support pages) Dad’s Mac 4 GB of RAM (1333 MHz PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM) The maximum amount of RAM you can install in your computer is 16 GB (a 4 GB SO-DIMM in each slot). You can use any Small-Outline dual inline memory modules (SO-DIMMS) that meet all of these criteria: PC3-10600 Unbuffered Nonparity 204-pin 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM You can use RAM module sizes of 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot. My Macbook 4 GB of RAM (1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM PC3-12800) Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format 67.6mm x 30mm (1.18 inch) 2 GB or 4 GB 204-pin PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz type RAM
  7. I've always wanted a NUC! Cool giveaway. Keep up the great work!
  8. I had to give up on Chrome, I kept on having issue with any flash based video. After several attempts to fix it I just gave up
  9. I'm coming from using it on a 720p widescreen TV, so I feel like it won't be too jarring of a switch from that
  10. I have thought about emulation but I mainly play smash bros and mario kart with my roommates so controllers are the main reason I want to keep using the real thing.
  11. I have an N64 that I play on with my roomates all the time. The TV we were using just broke. I was wondering if it would work to buy an adaptor and use my PC monitor. My monitor has VGA and DVI inputs. I was thinking of something like this Any suggestion/thoughts? Is this a good solution? Thanks
  12. I love that the Z2 is waterproof and dust resistant. DBRAND IS MADE IN CANADA!! Woot Woot, true patriot love! Awesome giveaway, awesome videos. Keep up the great work
  13. http://youtu.be/fpbOEoRrHyU I thought this was a good piece about net neutrality that would be approachable for a wide range of people (those who may not follow tech).
  14. I don't have access to another TV at the moment but I'll try that next time I can. Although we have used the hdmi ports for other things (a friend has a windows laptop with hdmi out) and they worked. I've tried it on enough MacBooks (4 of us in the apt have macs) that I don't think it's the port. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it.
  15. Hi guys, Long time listener first time poster. My roommate has a LG tv and we've been trying to hook up our MacBooks to no avail. The tv shows no signal but does show the hdmi input as active when I go to switch inputs. I sometimes get a black flash on my macbook screen when plugging it in which seems to change my laptop screen's resolution preferences but doesn't register on the tv. I also have clicked "detect displays" in system preferences with no luck. I have tried both an hdmi to mini-displayport adapter and a mini-displayport to hdmi cable, neither work. I have done a PRAM reset also with no success. I am open to suggestions, thanks in advance.
