satanisahippy reacted to roylapoutre in Ramp case fans up under GPU load?
If you have all your case fans hooked up to the motherboard, it's possible to change the fan profile on some motherboard but most of the time, you can only chose a fixed RPM, which sucks. And if they're connected directly to the PSU, enjoy the full 12V full RPM no matter what

The thing that changed my life was the NZXT Grid+ V2 fan controller. For 30$, you have 6x3 pins connectors (with 4 to 3 pins adapters so you can also connect CPU PWM fans in there) and with the CAM software, you can adjust each fan with the curve you want and base the curves on either CPU or GPU temp. You can also stop your fans if you want.

You might be able to tweak the RPM of your case fans without a dedicated fan controller thanks to software like SpeedFan (provided they're connected to your motherboard of course), but you'll never have the features of the Grid. At that price, it's a must have for silence AND performance freaks like me

Yeah Speedfan would be the way to go, if the fans are conencted to the mainboard!

I think you can do it with SpeedFan - I've seen, some time ago, a video on how to set it up depending on GPU load

Power off, power on.....Yeah you're good. All the important information is stored in non-volatile memory. It's only the webpage info that nobody actually cares about that is stored in the router's ram.

If something doesn't reset, just tell it to refresh it's connections.

Build it in a small case like this, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-217-AN&groupid=2362&catid=2279 Or this, http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=414
You probably wont get it smaller than that without buying a close to un-upgradable pre-built system.
I think some of the steamboxes is upgradable, But not by much.

The pre-built ones will probably have a formfactor that is close to a console,
But if you build it by your own you probably cant get it as small But it will be cheaper.

Depends how you look at it, its almost impossible to get a build as small as the steam boxes, especially the Alienware Alpha for example, its impossible to get components

Price wise, they are not that much more expensive than a custom build,

BUT if you dont care about size, you could possibly build something better for similar money, but it would be in a cheap matx case etc

I remember someone pricing all the parts used in a AlienWare and the parts for the same/similar build. I think the price gap was within 50 bucks.

Well, I guess if you're on a tight budget, and can't afford to build a quality system yourself, then going pre-built with something like that probably makes sense. It's up to you though mate, it's ultimately your decision what you choose.
Good luck with whatever you end up going with.

There is no way to get the same components cheaper, you can only drop certain things from the build, drop down the i3 for example or buy a cheaper case

Well did you ever change the username and password for the router? If not, the username & password are in your router manual. Well resetting the router won't change the network name & password( at least for me on my N600), you would have to go into the router settings to change it.

The quality, performance, and sound signatures of fans will generally vary even from the same brand. There aren't so many brands to recommend than individual lines/models.
Sound signature will generally matter more than dBA and dBA as well as CFM specs aren't always reliable. Benchmarks are better references when choosing fans.
