BigChimp97 reacted to Energycore in What air cooler should I pick (if any at all)?
Well the Deepcool Assassin II is basically a good looking NH-D15

BigChimp97 got a reaction from ShadowCaptain in Upgrading to 1440p
After having my IPS i would never go back to TN its horrific ahha. Aslong as the colours are great and the blacks are actually black and not a shade of grey then all is well

BigChimp97 got a reaction from Kopil Goyary in Big upgrade to current build.
The problem with this PSU is that the CPU power connector is too short, at the minute im having to run it under my cooler and it only just reaches ahah. I'm also going to be selling my old rig to a friend, minus the SSD and CPU cooler of course.

BigChimp97 got a reaction from JFischer00 in Second hand LGA1150 CPU for gaming?
If it's only for the next couple of years then i'm sure the i5-4460 will serve you well. What sort of games are you playing?

BigChimp97 reacted to Zyndo in Z170 Hero vs Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1
well most modern motherboards nowadays have Q-LED's These are little LED's on your motherboard that light up during boot when activating specific components. They are also responsible for lighting up when an individual component is experiencing an issue. For example if you tried overclocking your RAM, and you went too far and you couldn't get into windows anymore; Your motherboard would light up the LED corresponding to your RAM to signify you have a RAM problem. The issue with this is, you now have to GUESS what your RAM problem is. All it tells you is that there is a RAM problem, it may not at all be related to your RAM overclock (in this example). A Q-Code takes that one step further by lighting up your RAM LED, as well as displaying a 2 digit code on your motherboard (in the case of the Hero, the code is located in the top right corner). If you get one of these error codes, you can pull out your motherboard manual, look up what that code means, and it will accurately tell you what is wrong. It takes out a lot of the guesswork in troubleshooting. It can also occasionally tell you things that are wrong that may not have a Q-LED assigned to them.
I've never used one before, so I don't know more than that. But from my understanding, basically Q-Codes are an advanced troubleshooting tool.

BigChimp97 reacted to Trey222 in Z97 or Z170?
They have the same number of cores. (both 4 physical and 8 hyperthreaded cores) They difference is the die size. Haswell is built on 22nm and skylake is 14nm. This means that the Skylake is slightly faster and better for games and other stuff. I think the Skylake CPU could be better becuase it will give you an upgrade path for the future because Haswell was the last i7 (I do not count Broadwell) for the Z97 while Skylake is only the first for Z170.

From what I have heard, late 2016, so it may be too long. Still hope it will be the new king of price to performance when it comes out though.

BigChimp97 reacted to DeadKerbal in Z97 or Z170?
On the assumption that your PC will be used almost entirely for gaming and other low demand tasks (internet browsing etc) then i don't think at this stage the Skylake gives good value. From what I've seen its certainly a great CPU, but for gaming the bulk of the work is done by the GPU. I went for a i5-4690k on a z-97 mobo and its been absolutely fine. These will start to come down in price now the next gen is out so save your money.

BigChimp97 reacted to Oshino Shinobu in Z97 or Z170?
As you're going to be switching out the board anyway, I would go for Skylake. The price difference isn't very big between Z97 and Z170 anymore.

BigChimp97 reacted to ZetZet in Z97 or Z170?
Since you have 16GB of DDR3 I would grab a 4790K and be done with it.

Skylake if you can afford it. What're the rest of your specs?

BigChimp97 got a reaction from Vocalcoffie in Corsair Obsidian
It's a great case from what i've seen, enough space for pretty much anything you want to throw at it and looks sleek. Getting a bit old now, but i suppose class never goes out of style.

BigChimp97 reacted to GalacticRuler in 4790k or 6700k
If you can afford a 6700K, you should get a 5820K.

The Corsair 250D is awesome and can fit full size GPUs and other hardware as long as you put it all in correctly.
