  1. Red Dead 2 and GTAV would be must have's. I actually had a similar experience when i was in prison, we weren't allowed to have anything with a disc drive though so i had a N64, i smashed Zelda, Goldeneye and Perfect Dark for years lol
  2. So i currently have my headphones (Bose QC35II's) connected to my TV via Bluetooth, it's just easier that way for me to stop gaming, swap to Netflix or a movie from my external HDD and continue without really skipping a beat. I keep seeing people talking about how transformative 3D audio is and ranting about how amazing certain games sound, they sound fine to me, but nothing super crazy to gush over either, which got me thinking that there's a good chance that I'm not getting the best out of my PS5's audio by using my headphones in this way. What would be the best way for me to get the most out of my gaming audio (using headphones only).
  3. I've been pretty fortunate with my PC, it's a 7700+GTX1080 build that i had for a while before the pandemic hit, then i popped it into my campervan and figured that i'd upgrade when it finally died but it's still kicking, after going for a couple of laps around Australia with the dust and the vibrations etc lol I'm hoping that it holds out until Nvidia drops the 5000 series cards, i love it when you hold off for ages and get to experience a really massive bump in power/visuals, i'll be going from GTAV @ 1920x1080 to GTA6 @ 4k 60
  4. I unsubscribed years ago, i first started watching when Linus was still doing videos back on the old old channel before he branched out on his own, i liked the informative videos and reviews about stuff i was into. Not sure when it happened exactly, but the channel seemed to morph into a tech themed comedy thing rather than something i'd go to for tech guidance.
  5. Wait what? Console exclusives are a huge thing, anyone who knows anything about the gaming industry will tell you that Sony crushing MS last generation was largely due to their exclusives and focus on quality single player games, that's not an opinion, that's just how it went. Why on earth do you think MS is spending so much cash on studios? It's to get their own exclusives lol The average consumer doesn't always know about who owns which studios and IP's, they'll walk into a retail outlet and say "I want to play Spiderman or Starfield" and the sales staff will point them towards the console they need. Titles like that are hardware movers, once you've gotten someone to buy the hardware, they're locked into the ecosystem, when someone buys the latest Assassins Creed game for their PS or X-box via the digital storefronts, something like 30% of the games price stays with Sony/MS so it's super important to try and get people to buy your hardware. Also, what the hell does FOMO have to do with this conversation?
  6. Sure, that's for you personally, but your personal feelings don't negate anything i said about console exclusives and the role they have played, and will continue to play in the future.
  7. Ummm, no they aren't. Playstation's success last generation is for the most part a product of their strong stable of exclusives, particularly single player narrative driven titles, so much so that MS has spent years gobbling up studios so they can compete on the exclusives front (Starfield is pretty much the first major title to arrive as a result of these efforts). If anything, exclusives are going to become even more important in the years ahead. I'm not knocking the idea of putting a PC in your lounge to replace your X-Box, i just think it would be silly to not keep your Playstation as part of the setup, ideally i'd throw a Nintendo in there too, because that's the gaming holy trinity, PC-PS-Nintendo.
  8. I once plugged my HDMI into the MOBO out instead of the GPU out and thought my new PC was fucked, in my defense, i had swapped from one PC case size MOBO orientation to another, that's why i popped it into the wrong one lol
  9. I own a PS and buy my games on disc, they pretty much never ask me to sign in. To be fair though, i mostly keep my console offline anyway (prevents unwanted updates). Whenever i buy new games, i just download the day one patch and then disable the internet connection right away.
  10. Fellow Aussie here, the last few PC's i have purchased, i just got them from PCCG prebuilt, you can grab one of their pre-existing setups, of you can list the components you want and they'll add an assembly fee. I personally do it because I'm lazy and sometimes i get anxious about parts arriving DOA, it just gives me the peace of mind to know it's all under the one warranty and they'll handle any issues i may have lol
  11. I'm sick to death of companies selling electronic good and software that is configured in the most dangerous way possible in terms of data security and privacy etc. Every fucking time my family buys something, i have to do a deep dive on the settings and make it safe before it can be used
  12. I would recommend looking up a guy on YouTube called Will Prowse, you can watch one of his super early videos that'll explain the basics of what each element of your solar system does, from panels, to a charge controller, the battery bank, and finally an inverter to convert the power from DC to AC for your household appliances. I knew basically nothing prior to watching this guys videos and going to his website, then i built my own complete system for my campervan, it's big enough to run my gaming PC, PS5, 4k TV and all of the normal household stuff like refrigerator/lights etc. If you dig deep into the solar/battery world, you'll be able to learn how to build your own battery bank from high grade lithium cells that you import yourself and it'll end up costing you probably 1/3 of what it would have cost you to buy a pre-built battery bank.
  13. This kind of thing happens all the time in Australia, our Netflix library is a tiny fraction of the one people see in the US because the rights to a lot of the movies and TV shows are picked apart and sold off to various Australian streaming services or cable TV type services. It's one of the main reasons that Australians are among the worst content pirates in the world, because companies are always geo-blocking us and doing all they can to isolate profit from us in extra ways.
  14. I only go to Reddit on my PC using oldreddit so none of this API stuff is going to bother me, i totally feel for everyone though, if they were putting oldreddit on the chopping block, i'd be gone.
