rheyL reacted to CyberneticTitan in 2.4GHz Wifi speed question?
AX is backward compatible with N (and operates on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz), so I wouldn't go out and buy a new N router.
2.4GHz is likely very congested and outside of perhaps setting the center channel to a less congested band, there is not much else you can do. Consider buying a used AC/AX USB WiFi adapter for <$10.

If that is the case you need to move the RAM, In the manual if you only have 2, they go in slots A2 and B2. https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B450M Pro4-F.pdf

rheyL reacted to Average Nerd in PCIe slot question
Yes. You can actually put any card into any slot, as long as it physically fits.
But keep your GPU in the top slot, because that one has the most PCIe lanes allocated to it.

Yes it wil work pcie is pcie
Also question I see a bunch of people buying these small top down coolers for their pc. Did you get this recommended by some yt video or so as these are kinda expensive and poor value as a 14$ thermalright tower cooler is way better and quieter. Even 2 years ago was basically the case.
Just curious here fyi as its always either the noctua, sycthe or yours.

As someone who's made many a loop
Don't
Just dont
They are a worthless moneysink.
Air cooling is SO DAMN GOOD AND CHEAP these days its just great. Gpu's have also gotten really quiet dur to good coolers finally so literally no point.
Only do it when you have WAY too much money too waste (yes waste it always is) and have top spec crap.
Just so you know but a custom loop pc hold no more value than a similar specced air cooled or aio cpu cooled rig. Exactly 0.
People will not pay extra for it.

2yrs is kinda long for me, try cleaning it up first. Also you might want to reapply thermal paste too.

And not logged in since it might be one of the extensions you have and that loads as soon as you log in and it restores your stuff.

my guess would be an extension installed on the browser. but since you already formatted it. this will run down to softwares you installed. does the problem occur while on clean OS and only chrome installed?

Well, I used Orico offline HDD duplicator: http://www.orico.cc/us/product/detail/3550.html
I'm quite impress that it can duplicate a HDD to another same or bigger capacity HDD or storage.

this is probably a controller issue, the pcb at the bottom of the hdd. if their is still warranty, then replace it.

if you hear a sound on the hard drive when turning the pc on, then it might be a faulty sata cable, if no sound, then the hdd might be dead.

rheyL got a reaction from TheNamelessOne in Security updates for Windows 7 ostensibly end tomorrow, but also officially continue until 2023
I'm using Windows 7, turned off updates, and still using it now. Got no problems or whatsoever. Been using it for games, browsing and media content. Smooth sailing ?. Sad to know Microsoft ended its support.
will update to Windows 10 when games and applications starts to leave 7 behind. Until then, I'll use this as my daily driver ✌️

More like reality........... (personal experience)
/EDIT
Before i jumped ship and switched to linux for my daily stuff and keep my gaming pc as gaming only(exiled onto the iot network where it belongs now) i used win7 as a daily driver. Last time it seen updates was back in 2016-ish. No infections, no hacks, nothing. I had up-to-date AV but it was more of a safety net than actual necessity. Fully up-to-date browser(!= IE/Edge) with no-script and adblock and some common sense. This is all you need to not get hacked. But if someone doesnt have a brain.....

rheyL reacted to DeScruff in Cooler master gets tired of telling parents about thermal compound, changes tube design
I'm imagining this scenario now:
Mom: Jimmy we need to talk, your father and I are concerned about you using this... "Arctic Silver".
Jimmy: Oh don't worry Mom I moved onto Thermal Grizzly now!
Mom: *starts crying* Hes moving to stronger things.
Jimmy: Well yeah its lot better, and makes everything cooler.
Mom: JIMMY! Drugs aren't "Cool"!
Jimmy: ... Wut?

you have important files inside the hard drive? if yes, then backup those files and RMA that disk.

rheyL reacted to glenalz81 in How to clone my boot drive?
Macrium Reflect works pretty well. I would advise a fresh install over cloning 100 times out of 100 though.

Right click on D:\Windows, choose "delete"
This will wipe out the old windows directory.

If you're certain you don't need the data on the HDD, reformatting it will do the trick.
