  1. 5800x putting out 150+ more fps on average in valorant which is my main game, all i want to know is if ryzen is going to be better in only valorant or if it performs better in games acrossed the board. Even the 12900k has horrible numbers in valorant for what it is and i play competitively so fps is king in my case BUT if im only gaining in valorant by getting ryzen and sacrificing everywhere else, I would go 12th gen. that is where im kind of lost in my choice. sorry for double reply didnt want to double comment the same reply
  2. I've noticed that the alder lake CPUs are pretty cache starved and gaming performance in CPU heavy games like valorant, they're not even in the same realm as some of the ryzen CPUs in terms of FPS Is this across all games or am I only going to notice it in Valorant? Having a hard time deciding between Ryzen or 12th Gen Intel currently (Valorant is my main game but im looking to be able to play anything)
  3. Budget (including currency): $1500 roughly without a GPU, $2500 total(ish) but not really trying to get a GPU right now as the one I have in my old PC is fine until I can get a good deal. Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly Valorant, but want to be able to play all game well, i play competitively mostly so at the end of the day FPS is king. I also dabble in a bunch of other things and am aiming to get into the production world so this will also be a mild work horse, light video editing. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc.): Right now I MOSTLY play Valorant, but that's because I currently have a 4790k and a 1060 6g and am quite limited these days. I have an LG 27" 1080p 240hz. So the big question here is, how big of a problem is the alder lake CPUs being cache starved? I've seen a lot lately that in more CPU intensive games like Valorant the 5800/5900x+ are blowing all of the intel 12th gen CPUs out of the water in terms of fps, and if it is just Valorant I might be okay with spending the money on intel still, is it worth it to get 12th gen yet or am I wasting my time? I'm no stranger to building PCs but this is kind of where I'm confused because i can get a much faster all around CPU for cheaper with 12th gen, but if it sucks in all games or even just my main game then I don't see the point and I could use some advice from someone who knows a lot more.
  4. Its all games tbh, nothing important, cant transfer files from it either. Not a big deal drives are cheap these days anyway, I was just hoping for a fix as I wanted to play MW and its 166 gigs lol. Any input as to my random dead USB port? Or why it would've caused that/where to look?
  5. So I have COD MW on an external drive (alongside plenty of games) and last night i updated it, after updating I tried to launch the game and my pc completely spazzed out, after rebooting (forcefully) it wouldn't boot. After unplugging the drive my PC did start but the USB port my keyboard was plugged into stopped working, my mouse is plugged in right next to it, and it still works, and my keyboard still works, just in a different USB port now. The biggest issue now is anytime I plug the drive in and try to open any game on it, not just COD, explorer freezes and i have to restart it. I was wondering if anyone had a good tip as to how to troubleshoot/fix? I can open the drive and its files, but its extremely slow to do so a lot of the time.
  6. So I rebooted my PC the other day and Windows explorer never opened but I could right click on the blank window (I use a solid black background so I wasn't aware it actually logged in at first lol). So I ctrl+alt+del and open Task Manager, and I restart explorer but it never opens, so I try to run it, also nothing. Then I open CMD and run sfc /scannow and at around 30% Windows Explorer will just start working, for a few times it was always 29%, then it was 32% and today it was at 36% that it started working, the scan always finishes reading as "no integrity violations". Any ideas? I tried to reset the PC to factory but when it restarts and prompts me to choose a language none of my peripherals work in that menu, and yes I have tried all USB ports. Peripherals work in all safe-mode and special boot options. Can provide specs upon request.
  7. Not to thread jack, but I also cant factory reset but for a different reason, as soon as the computer reboots and it says to choose a language, none of my peripherals work, and its only in that specific menu, all safe mode options and stuff work.
  8. dont wanna spend a shit ton, probably like 75 USD at max, just need a decent wifi card.
  9. I partitioned my C drive a long time ago now and I installed Ubuntu on the second partition and after I did that, unless I go to the boot options on startup, it wont boot to anything it will say there's no boot device.
  10. because it's supposed to guard stolen phones, reason why the employee was told to never enable it in the first place.
  11. I can't get to the settings, I'm completely locked out of the phone on boot, says I need to login to the samsung account tied to the phone which I dont have because the person was not supposed to set up the security, it was a company phone, so now I can't access the settings menu
  12. So an employee with a company phone locked their S5 with the account, so now its giving me the abnormal factory reset and requiring a login, I can't get the login and I haven't found any of the fixes to work, is there any way I can enable usb-debugging so I can root the phone and load a custom ROM?
  13. I've always been extremely interested in having a lot of control over my OS and I know that Linux is more secure than windows and more lightweight. Although, I'm extremely new, I've only used linux once. Is there anything/anywhere I should read/go to learn more or learn everything I need to know?
  14. Is a 1060 going to get me 1080p 60fps at ultra in most games? I only really care about hitting 144+ fps in fps games
