  1. Hi all, So, I bought a Arctic Freezer 12 CO a while back (mainly because my case is very special and this *just* about fits height wise with the door of my case). I'm running a 4770K right now, and I do like silence, so I've set my fan profile such that the fan doesn't spin till about 65 degrees. However, i'm seeing that even with the fan spinning at 2000 RPM on full load, I can hover around 85-92 ish. Given the size of this heat sink isn't small, I was hoping it would be cooler than this. Am I doing something wrong? The temperature shoots back down again to ~58 when the load goes away, so am I right in interpreting that as the thermal paste is still good? I haven't overclocked the i7 4770K (and probably wont if it's this hot at stock), it tops out at 3.8GHz under load. Any ideas how I can bring this down? My case fans are 2 Noctua NF-B9 redux-1600, running at a fair speed too. The case is one of those old PowerMac Pro cases, which is effectively a massive hole all the way through.
  2. Sorry about the slow reply, I do have VSync on, but I would have thought that would hold me at 60fps.
  3. Hmm, I guess so. I used to run with about the same performance on an R9 280X. This is also an AMD optimised title, so hmm.
  4. Hmm, It's only showing 1.3GB VRAM used inside the Benchmark. I guess it's just not that optimized.
  5. Hey all, I'm looking to play a bit more of Tomb Raider (2013), i've forgotten about it for a while. Benchmarking at 4K High on a GTX 970 gives me Min 30fps, Max 60, Avg 46. But during the run, the CAM overlay shows that neither the CPU or the GPU are pegged. Both go no higher than ~70%. What could I be hitting? Temps are OK, nowhere near throttling I believe. Cheers, Matthew.
  6. This would be the answer to our problems relating to having a big tv in a room whilst also not covering up the windows during the day...
  7. Erm, I haven't noticed anything, I certainly can't see a lag between the mouse and screen. I didn't really buy it for 4K gaming as such (being 1) a Hackintosh running OSX most of the time, 2) I've only got a 970), however Drift 3 plays really nice (Min and Max frame rate in benchmark at 60FPS in 4K), but that's an old game. It's a bit slow turning on though, in comparison to another of my screens, meaning windows will sometimes jump to the second screen first for a second after waking it up from sleep. Also, another thing being display port and my other being DVI, it defaults to the DVI on boot until OSX / Windows boots up. Slightly annoying but nothing I can feasibly do.
  8. Hi There, I have a question for you all because after quite a bit of research, I still can't find the answer. I have an Asus PB287Q, which I purchased after forgetting that Linus reviewed it as one of his many 'Best Gaming Monitor Yet' monitors. I absolutely love it, it looks great, plenty of cool menu options like turning the LED off while in auto-discovery standby mode, however my laziness leeds to this slight glitch. When it is in standby (the computer is off without the monitor power button being pressed to turn it off), it has begun randomly turning on, showing the standard "DisplayPort: No signal" message, and then turning back off again. I could simply turn it off using the button to correct this, but I would really love to know if anyone else has had this with this (or another) monitor, and any steps that could correct it. The only thing that possibly happened was swapping my rig from an AMD system to my new Intel Hackintosh box with a GTX 970, but the mobo on the new one is in Deep Sleep mode in the bios to prevent another (seemly unsolvable) problem regarding my specific motherboard and the way the old PowerMac G5 case light works. Any ideas? Regards, Matthew.
  9. Everybody should get an SSD, it saves sooooooo much time waiting for Windows does updates to install!
  10. I would love to win a Kova, It looks awesome and is WAY more substantial and gaming-ready than my wireless travel Logitech one. It will go really well with the edgy lines of my BitFenix Colossus Micro ATX case. Thanks for the opportunity to win these cool mice! Regards, Matthew.
  11. There is actually a much more useful "up directory" feature in OSX, simply right click on the window title in Finder and you should be presented with a dropdown (like you asked for) that goes all the way to the top level directory! Give it a try
  12. I'm interested in the next gen gaming at the moment!
  13. If the card has any kind of VGA output (separate or in the DVI) , it may be outputting via that as a fall back. Otherwise, make sure to update your bios (it may also have an option to choose the built in Graphics instead of the PCI too (to install the drivers without the card outputting video).
  14. Here are my options in a table I think I will go for the R9 280X
  15. That link shows a £100 increase? Are you sure you read that right?
