Hey everyone, I am back from a nice holiday and I have installed most of my components into the cabinet. Instead of me talking how about I just show you some images =) Thank you everyone for the kind support, i hope to have the build filled with liquid in the next update. -

are you sure you want to paint that dragon black? personally i really like that metal look, gives a really nice accent. Black would make it not so pop, which i think it totally deserves to do ^^
Just my opinion, you do whatever you want with it

Ergh every time i see updates like this i just want to give up on school, get a job and buy all the parts needed for a high end gaming rig. The feeling of unboxing all of it would be so awesome..
After that i'd probably regret quitting school.. And have 2 parents being mad at me..
So let's not do that

Hey everyone, I finally got around to painting the cabinet a nice matte black colour. My MSI dragon has also been stuck onto the side of the cabinet and it looks great.
All that is left to do is:
1. Install components
2. Drill two 13mm holes for my tubing to route through up to the top shelf
3. Screw in my radiator mounts and PSU mount
4. Attach custom 5.25' box to cabinet and make plexi window for res cover
5. Bend the acrylic tubing
6. Connect wires
7. Fill the loop/leak test
8. Overclock
9. GET SOME GAMING HAPPENING
Here is where the cabinet is at.
I have installed my water blocks kindly supplied by EK Water Blocks.
As a few of you may know, my desk PC was painted in my dads spray booth at work. This time It was painted in our garage with the air spray gun. The paint job turned out amazing.
Here is the prep work:
The images below were taken with my phone son I apologise for the bad quality. These were taken just after the paint work was finished.
The paint finally dried and i was able to install the MSI dragon. I Glued the metal and the red acrylic dragon together then glued the dragon to the side of the cabinet.
Here is how the paint work and dragon turned out, It looks amazing:
This is the cabinet up to date. Next update i hope to have all of the components installed and hopefully some of the acrylic tubing installed.
Thank you for showing some interest in the build and let me know what you think =)

I know, I am sorry and i want to apologize, but for the last 2 months i'm experiencing some major energy problems. School is wearing me out like crazy and i need the weekends to recover, and for the last two weeks i called sick twice because i'm just so beat up.
I'm sorry i can't deliver the expectations right now.. also I can't promise anything, maybe i'll be jumping all over the place with energy going through the roof next week, maybe i'm going to have to wait for the Christmas holidays.. I just can't tell.
I am going to finish the desk of course, what's the point of a half-finished project right?

Cheers man, hope you like the final update!
Welcome to the community! I'm honored that this build helped you to make the plunge.
MEGA UPDATE!
Well this is it folks. It's been one hell of a journey with many ups and downs (some seriously low points), but I wouldn't trade it away lightly. The amount of support this build has garnered from the community has been astounding, finally winning a Bit-Tech MotM being the icing on a rather rich chocolate cake indeed. I'm amazed by simply how many have followed this thread too, a massive 315 at time of writing!
I'd like to thank everybody who's followed this build from the start, along with everybody who joined along the way. Also a big thanks to my sponsors EKWB who provided almost all of the watercooling parts for the build, it certainly would have been a much slower affair without them. I'd also like to thank the team over at Parvum Systems who managed to get a new block made so quickly, and of course a thanks to James (Phame) who made the original one that sadly now sits in my room as a grim reminder of the cost of carelessness.
First up, the final update:
Tidied up all the fan wires, much neater only having one.
Felt that the radiator screws needed a bit of sprucing too.
And now for the main event!
The rig is all up and running safely. I'd have grabbed a few pics of it pushing some pixels only every place I could use is a bit of a heap right now thanks to trying to frantically finish the build. Going to be a bit of a cleanup job for sure.

That's probably the route I was going to take, I'll see what it looks like first, may end up using something flexible like plastidip instead.
Thanks!
UPDATE!
Armed with 2 gallons of distilled water, I decided to have a go at playing with the coolants. To be honest, it sounds more exciting than it was as I found the coolant colour I wanted pretty fast. It's very similar to sunset yellow, I would have picked that exact one up were it in stock. Any more orange didn't look yellow enough, any less looked a bit anaemic. You may also notice that I picked up some Aurora 2 concentrate. Unfortunately it looks rubbish in the shade of yellow I'm looking to use, not nearly enough contrast. It's great for deep colours like punchy blue, red, green or even black, but light yellow just looked like urine really. I was about to take a photo for you but in an effort to darken it a bit, I added half a drop of red. Well that took over making it a vivid orange, again, not very interesting photo wise there. I'll probably use it in a future project, IMO Aurora can look damn fantastic in the right colour and setting. She's all filled up now. I'm really pleased without how easy this build is to fill and drain. I'll go over the details of the systems in a big update in a few days.
Tomorrow I'll try and get all the wiring done and hopefully the last few details on the flight case too! -

Hello and welcome to the final update
WOW!
What a journey this has been with my still unnamed TJ07 project! With this update I would like to show you the completed build in all of it's glory! Thank you to all of you sponsors for your support in making this the PC that I had imagined using your products!
This project started over a year ago when I bought a SilverStone Temjin TJ07 second hand from a local man.. I started designing ideas in SketchUp and eventually came up with a design that I (and you guys ) enjoyed. A few months went by when a friend of mine asked me to build this computer for him. Fast forward a few months of slow but sure progress, and here we have the finished product!!
Personally, I think that this PC looks spectacular!! I love the black on black with just a little hint of grey and carbon black highlights. Very stealthy and understated.
The finished project contains the following hardware:
Intel Core i7 4930K
ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition X79
G.Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3 PC19200/2400MHz CL10 4x8GB x2 (64GB total)
Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB x3 (Trifire)
Samsung 840 EVO Series 500GB x2
NB-BlackSilent Pro 120mm x6
SilverStone ST1200-G 1200W
EK Coolstream PE 480
EK Coolstream PE 240
EK-RES X3 250 x2
EK-FB ASUS R4BE Monoblock - Acetal+Nickel
EK-FC R9-290X - Acetal+Nickel (Rev.2.0) x3
EK-FC R9-290X Backplate - Black x3
Alphacool VPP655 - G1/4 IG complete with D5 HF Top
EK HD fittings and adapters
NSFW WARNING!!
Oh and get some popcorn
Thank you everyone for following my project! I have 2 more to be completed before the end of the year, so keep your eyes on my Facebook page for the build log links
See you at the next project!
Kind regards,
Justin "MetallicAcid" Ohlsen

Also check out stain, it will colour the wood but is soaks into the wood to is not shiny. You could make it look like your desk is made of a much more expensive wood than it is

MarQue98 got a reaction from levidias in [Build Log] Satan's Cave Project
Welcome to my first project build log!
some of you may already know what this project is going to be about, but for those who don't know, let me explain real quickly.
that's the idea, building a desk, throwing in my current parts, i'll list those in a moment. Also, it will be "degradable" in the form of the ability to easily add watercooling stuff later on.
i want to try and get this peace of glass in the middle, with a glowing red tube, and a aluminium plate with the logo of this build
here are the parts i'll be using, they're just from my "old" pc:
cpu: AMD FX6300
mobo: ASRock Fatal1ty killer
gpu: MSI r9 270
ram: g.skill ripjaws 2x4 kit
psu: corsair cx500m
storage: 240gb ssd (maybe some modding on this one? ) and a 1tb seagate hdd
cooling: i'll take the 4 zalman 12mm red led fans out of my case. my cpu cooler is a Prolimatech Panther. I won't blame you if you've never heard of that
so i guess that's pretty much it, without any furder a don't (hehe, watched a little too much RayWilliamJohnson ), let's get the party rocking!
so as with every other pc build out there, let's start with the peripherals.
Wait what? okay maybe not like "every other build", but i am going to start with the keyboard, since i can't actually do anything to the main build until the actual desk is build.
So i own a cmstorm quickfire ultimate, and i wanted to try and color the backplate to match the led's, which is red (duh), because the quickfire tk does have this and it looks STUNNING.
so i got myself some spraypaint, and let's get this going
Gawwd it's dirty..
that's better
now let's mummify it, so the electronics and switches won't get painted (as much)
after 2 rounds of spraying, it looks a little something like this
done! i sprayed it 3 times, let it dry and took the tape off.
crossed fingers, plugged the cable in the pc, and she shiiiines
put on the keys and there we go, the first part of this project is completed!
now i know that it is a little orangy but since it's underneath the keys and only meant as reflection for the led's, i'm not going to redo everything.
so far, i'm pretty satisfied, knowing i have two left hands
anyways, thanks for your attention and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
cheers!

Small Update:
The desk is in it's test phase right now, i'm pretty much using it the way it is now, to see if the height needs to be adjusted.
Also, the lack of updates is probably because of the fact that i have a sh*t-load of tests coming up next week, so I've been putting a lot of time in studying etc.
I've also decided that black isn't the color i want to go with, since it eats up so much light. My mom covered the desk with black fabric and i could already tell that that was not what i wanted.
I do really like the color of it now, but the only problem is that i do want the PC-box to be black. So maybe I'll go in between and make it a darker brown/grey, or I'll leave the surface like this and paint the inside of the PC-box black.
I'll experiment with that after my test-week is over.
That's it for now, have a nice day to you all

Update time!
i'm pretty disappointed about this myself, but i have to announce that there is exactly 0.0% progress on the desk itself..
part of the reason is because my dad is very busy and can't find the time to buy the wood for the desk.
on the other side, i also have a job now, so i can increase the headroom i have for this build financially wise
also, i finished school better than expected, and that has it's consequences $_$
i didn't want to post nothing for two whole weeks, and i did work on some things, so let me show you what i have been busy doing for the last 2 weeks.
my dad decided to clean up the house and toss everything unneeded/unwanted, which ofcourse gave me the opportunity to gather usefull stuff.
an old door was going to the slaughterhouse, and it had 8 pieces of glass in it, which i took ofcourse
also a broken electric piano was going out, so i stole the speakers. i have no experience in wiring things together etc, so i was about to blow up the house my soldering these speakers to my pc. Luckily my dad told me that that wasn't going to work and that i need another piece of hardware. that isn't the priority right now, maybe it's fun to drill inside the desk when everything else is finished, but for now i'm not going to bother too much about them.
glass panel with the stuff on the sides stripped off
the plates are just a bit bigger than a motherboard so they are basically perfect to use as a motherboard tray.
my dad used to clean the glass when the door was still in use, but he did it with one of these stupid sponges that put scratches all over the glass, so i'll have to clean them all and have a look at which one is least damaged
i also worked on a phone dock.
the lines in the middle are going to be cut out using a saw, this is where the phone sits. the other two ending lines, top left and bottom right, are going to have ( if everything works out the way i want it) plexi in it, with an led drilled into it, so it gives a nice red glow
quick sketchup model to give you a general idea.
okay so this one was kind of unfortunate. While i was working on the dock, the phone that the dock is for dropped. face down, screen shattered.
my dad and i opened up the phone to see what was still intact and what needed to be replaced, and lucky me, it's only gonna cost me about 20 bux.
this is what she looks like right now..
so yeah.. that's probably my priority right now.
that's also all that has happened since last time, please forgive me about the long space in between the updates. i can't tell when my dad finds the time to go buy the wood with me, but until then i will save up money and work on the dock, which the next update(s) are probably going to mostly about.
that's all i got, thanks for your time and i'll seeyou next time!
well i won't actually see you
because you're behind your computer
or phone
but what if i'm a hacker >
that would be creepy
this is getting awkward..
bye..

MarQue98 got a reaction from Ren in Just bought a new mouse with 13 programmable buttons. Too bad none of them work
FIXED!
i don't know what the problem was, so i'll tell you what i did.
i found out that there was an old receiver for a Bluetooth mouse in one of my rear usb ports, so i shut off my pc, took out all of the i/o i didn't need, and turned the pc back on.
then i uninstalled the cyborg software, and re-installed the driver, which then gave me a popup with "this driver isn't correctly installed, do you want to install it again?"
so i did, then i downloaded and re-installed the cyborg software, and now it works just fine
i can't say what the solution was, so there's nobody to honor, and so therefor i want to thank you all for the comments,
thanks

Alright. Check your programs list for old mouse drivers and remove them. If you're on Windows 7, go to Windows Update and check for updates. Look for anything that says "Microsoft .NET framework update" or something like that and install them. You may also have to search for older .NET frameworks on the Microsoft website and install them but I'm not sure. We can try that later if need be.
Reinstall the madcatz drivers after doing/checking all of that. Set up your profile properly and try again. We'll see where all that I posted gets you.

MarQue98 reacted to Ren in Just bought a new mouse with 13 programmable buttons. Too bad none of them work
Open notepad and check if the keypresses are working, i.e. press a macro button and see if 1/2/etc. is typed out.
If that works, check another game. Any game that has singleplayer, really. I don't know if this is accurate with League of Legends but there are some games that do not register input from keys that aren't Mouse 1/2 (left/right click), 3 (mouse wheel/center button), and 4/5 (side buttons primary). It has to do with anti-cheat software or something and I can't name a game that is against macros in this way - most just ban you for using them if it's against the rules/ToS - but it can exist easily.
I will say that I play DotA 2 and I had thought I remembered a moba or moba-like game that disallowed macro keys. It's not DotA, but I also remember people picking up Razer Nagas for LoL (pretty sure there's mice that are branded as "LoL/MOBA" as well..).
I'll keep looking but worst case scenario is you ask for a replacement.

yes you should key bind not macro. anyway madcatz sensor and software is awful

All in good time, the CAD files are currently with the guys at Parvum atm, who will be doing the cutting. My hard deadline is November 18th, so you won't have long to wait regardless
Interestingly enough though, in the 3 forums where I have logs up (here, Bit-Tech and OCN) I received update requests in each over the last 2 days rofl. Bit of a coincidence given I last updated all three at pretty much the same time. Seems that people have a universal threshold haha.
