Acci reacted to DigitalGoat in CPU Cores fluctuations when idle
This could be just Windows doing background tasks, logging, indexing, applying updates, optimising memory and pagefile usage and a whole lot of other idle time tasks.
If you want to see what is going on then you can download the Sysinternal suite (available on the MS Store or the main website), it is free and around 100MB in size, there are two apps in particular, Process Explorer and Process Monitor that show you in real time everything that is happening on your system.
Set some filters for what you want to monitor such as disk read/ writes (Explorer processes) and/ or Registry access to track down what is using the idle time to perform tasks.
There are some decent guides on tech forums for using these utilities, tenforums & elevenforums for example.

Acci reacted to TCatTheLynx in Is the RTX 3070 better than the RTX 3060 for gaming even though it has less vram?
3070 can be modified to have 16G of VRam in the future,I’m figuring this out.Technically possible.I’ve already done 2080ti 22G and 3080 20G,the 3070 16G is coming soon with a mod-fee at around 50$ by yourself in home.

just for reference, not a common solution.

Welcome to the SSD tier list.

SSD or Solid State Drive is a storage device containing non-volatile flash memory, used in place of hard drive because of its much greater speed. Unlike a hard drive, a solid state drive doesnt have any moving parts. It has two main components - A flash controller and  NAND flash memory chips.
More information on solid state drives can be had from here..
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive

This guide differentiates SSDs in different tiers based on their DWPD, sustained writes, controllers and NAND types.

NOTE - MANY MANUFACTURERS ARE REPLACING THE KEY COMPONENTS OF SSDS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) WITH INFERIOR COMPONENTS WITHOUT INFORMING THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THIS LIST IS BASED ON THE COMPONENTS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) THAT THE SSD CAME WITH  AT THE TIME OF LAUNCH.

Acci reacted to LAwLz in LTT store IOSS number
The people talking about IOSS numbers seem to all be talking about taxes. They are being charged taxes both at purchase, and when the items are being brought into the country. This is because it doesn't seem like the IOSS number is being handled correctly at LTT's end.

Some people trying to be helpful are jumping in to the conversation and are talking about custom duties, which is not the issue people in this thread are having.

You are suppose to be charged for custom duties.
You are not suppose to be charged for taxes/VAT twice.

Acci reacted to minibois in How did Wendel from level1techs get known as the go-to guy for server stuff?
    Wendell - before Level1Tech - was a co-host on a YouTube channel called TekSyndicate.
Without going into all the details, Wendel and co-host Logan split due to a whole lot of stuff (if I remember correctly including a different sort of direction).

Of course I don't know what went on, on the inside.. But Wendel actually got the YouTube channel (and forum I think?)
That is why if you go to the Level1Tech YouTube channel and click the 'videos' link, you actually get brought to this URL:

So a lot of Wendel's history on YouTube he has gotten through this YouTube channel. So if you want to see his YouTube history, you actually don't go through the Level1 channel, but rather through this one:
    https://www.youtube.com/user/razethew0rld/videos?view=0&sort=da&flow=grid
(I think.. If I remember that correctly).

TekSyndicate focused a lot on the same sort of stuff others tech YouTubers focused on in 2010-2014. Reviews of everything computers.
But they also did Linux stuff. Their community was very knowledgable about this stuff too. But even back then, Logan and Wendell had a similar dynamic as Linus and Anthony have now.
Linus/Logan did the brunt of the presentation, but when you needed all the factual info: you went to Anthony/Wendell.

Anyways, having said that - so kind of create some more YouTube validity for Wendell - he isn't a solely YouTube guy.
During the TekSyndicate days, Wendell had a traditional job as well. He is (was?) a consultant.
From what I can find, Wendell has always been kind of secretive on what his job is (well now it probably is YouTube, but I mean back in the day), so it's hard to say for sure what is was..

To wrap it up. He was/is a consultant, knows a lot of stuff, seems eager to learn, to re-iterate; he knows a lot, he has been in the tech community for a LONG time and he just overall seems like a nice guy.
I think that is why he is the go-to guy for so many tech YouTubers.

P.S. shoutout to the times when Wendell was the guy behind the monitors

I stopped watching Tek Syndicate when Wendell left

I think that is the case. It prevents 2x+ taxation, since in the destination country then charges VAT on top of the price that had VAT already paid in the country of origin.

Note that if you shop for more than 150 Euros, IOSS does not apply anymore, and there should not be any taxes handled by the store. Instead this time it must be handled by the destination country.

Seems to be fixed now. No taxes added to the total when shipping to EU (Finland).

This is just ridiculous. How is it so freakin hard to stop charging people for tax and then not even tell that for customers in order confirmation that hey btw we screw up all the orders. Instead "please contact us at support@lttstore.com" and then Linus is complaining on wan show how support tickets are endless. I wonder why, when you ask every single EU customer to create support ticket!

Nice video: My suggestion is to basically bully them: Get MKBHD, Austin, etc. To make noise about them and shame them into doing something. I mean the multiple millions of views this video should get (And I actually do encourage people to like and share the video this time) should be just the first taste but it should be scorched earth on them.
