BlueChinchillaEatingDorito reacted to Somerandomtechyboi in I'm trying to decide if it's worth to getting a new cpu cooler.
complete waste of money on outdated and overpriced designs

only good upgrade over your current cooler would be a phantom spirit 120 or a variant of it usually around 35$

otherwise just keep your cooler till you can get an actually better dual tower

You can also look for any non-profits in your area specializing in refurbishing and selling used hardware. Organizations like Free Geek are usually available in major urban centres. Of course, expect the hardware to be a couple generations older like Intel 8th generation old. Still capable, but not bleeding edge.

Unless you're running high-velocity server delta fans, you shouldn't pull nearly enough current for it to be a problem. Some coolers even include an adapter like that since most boards only have one CPU fan header.

Just wear regular ol' cheap disposable foam earplugs that meet local regulations for construction sites.

Is it compatible? Yes, any GPU with a PCIe slot would be compatible provided there are drivers for the Windows version you're running on said system. Something like a 1660 Super or RX 580 would be the most I would put in such a machine.

Unless you are worried about specific programs that aren't windows itself I would recommend a fresh install of windows to alleviate any risk for software related headaches.

honestly, if something else in the same pcie slot works, and you plug this card in without getting as much as an unknown device in device manager, you bought someone else's e-waste.

i did ofcourse toss in a quick google... and there's apparently counterfeit intel X550 cards out there.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from Weezy in New Monitor connected to laptop - Stretched View
Is the resolution for the secondary display set to 5120 x 1440 to match the monitor? The only other thing you can possibly change is to change the screen size on the monitor to tell it not to stretch the image. But that just nullifies the point of getting an ultrawide monitor with such high resolution in the first place.

BlueChinchillaEatingDorito got a reaction from thekingofmonks in Can a dinamic DHCP cause pachet loss or conectivity issues ?
It wouldn't directly be the cause of ping spikes. DHCP vs. Static only relates to how your router assigns a local IP address to your computer.

DHCP -> Router chooses a unique IP address on the network for you.
Static -> Device tells the router it is using the IP address you specify.

Now it's possible you could get ping spikes if you're using static IP and you set another device to the same static IP as the one you're playing games on. But you're more likely to experience a complete network outage for those two devices before you experience ping drops in game due to IP conflict.
